I took a step in front of the other fae's and took a look around. I was taken aback. I'd never seen so much color before. It wasn't just purple, but also orange, yellow, green, and a variety of other hues only found in books; how did they manage to paint this room with such vibrant colors? Zagoroth lacked them; it was a kingdom of only four colors: black, red, purple, and blue.
It resembled... the pink room with posters from my dream, and Azova city was likewise brightly colored too. It made me wonder how such things were possible, humans and fae's living together again....
As I continued to look around, I noticed a little hallway with graffiti all over the walls. Both sides were packed with colorful phrases, some declaring the project sucks, others were a map of the village, and in the center was a door with a number of clay figurines of various fae, divided by colony, and some were even children.
"You have no business being here." I turn to face the voice and see Riya leaning against the door, arms folded.
"What exactly is this place?" My curiosity got the best of me, and I couldn't stop myself.
"It's a room of appreciation." She let out a small sigh and frowned before continuing, " for the Fae's who lost their lives trying to protect us from the project, they were banished outside of the village."
I stood there in silence, there were so many statues. And some looked to be 10 year old little girls and boys, one statue however caught my attention.
I approached it more closely and inspected it. "I've seen this girl before," I said, noticing how similar her looks were to mine. "Is this.... It can't be," I murmur, brushing the clay cheeks. I remove my hand and gaze down at the name tag. I took a few steps back, struggling to breathe. I felt as if someone had squeezed my heart so fiercely that it had been yanked out of my chest.
"Elenor! the leader of the rebels!" I glanced at it, unable to fathom the truth; I knew she went to the project, but I had thought she was still here, that I would see her someday. I was so engrossed in my thoughts that I didn't see my tears until they streamed down my cheeks and onto the lovely purple marble floor.
"She was blue-fae, but she never informed us who her parents were, thus her last name remained unknown." Riya proceeded without pausing to see my tears. I attempted to wipe them away before she approached, but I believe she saw since her tone changed and she began to praise Elenor.
"She was our captain, and she will live on in our hearts forever." "She helped us out of the project and told us about Azova City, she told us a place existed even though we scoffed at her, she said she'd prove it to us, she went but never returned. It's been years and we didn't know what to do without her so we chose a new captain," she said, placing a hand on my shoulder. I brushed it off before she could finish, "so you just forgot about her and replaced her?" My hands began to clenched into fists.
"We didn't have a choice; if there was a way to bring her back, we'd do it, but we were all too young to go out there, Talon."
I felt tears flow down my cheeks again, so I wiped them away with my sleeve and marched out, pushed her to the corner, "I need to leave." I started walking, then stopped just in front of the door, "how do you know my name?"
She hesitated before replying, "you told me?" she began fidgeting with her fingers.
"I didn't introduce myself to you." I started coming up to her, enclosing her against the wall, and with each step I drew closer, near enough for her to feel my hot breath on her, "how... do... you...know...my... name?" I ask again, emphasizing each word.
I was so angry that I felt like fire was coming out of my ears, and my hands and hair began to change color, turning red.....
I didn't notice I was in a trance staring her down until she screamed, "TALON!"
I blinked and stared in the mirror next to her. My hair turned a cherry red hue, and I kept my gaze glued on the mirror as I rotated my head to see my ears crimson and eyes flaming scarlet all different colors of red, but how could this be?
I came to a halt there, peering at my own image as the colors faded back into their original blue tint, slowly moving my head, eyes locked on my reflection as I saw my ears turn blue again.
"What just happened?" I whispered out loud enough for Riya who was still standing there to hear, "you're one of the chosen." she murmurs out.
"I'm what?"
"You've never heard of the prophecy have you?"
"I know it's about a chosen one who brings peace, but I came here seeking for my sister, Elenor, who I now learn is dead."
I sighed and dropped to the floor, flailing my hands with every syllable I shouted. I sat hugging my knees to my chest, hoping for something or someone to explain what was happening to me. Nothing like this had ever occurred before. These visions, this color altering what was going on with me....
I'm not feeling well. I sat there clenching my jaws, thinking to myself that if I sobbed one more time in front of Riya, she'd laugh.
I was still angry at her for allowing my sister to go, I was angry at my parents for lying to me about her, I was afraid of what had just happened, and confused about the vision, I couldn't decide which emotion to let out first.
