Chapter 8 - The Real Prophecy

It had only been a few minutes, but it felt like an hour, when Zed, one of the other purple fae's, walked in screaming the time out loud, "it's almost dark now folks, we're supposed to have supper before 7," He stormed in and halted, gazing at our dilemma, giving Riya a lengthy frown before shifting his gaze to me and back to her.

"What happened?" I notice his shadow tilting slightly towards Riya's ear.

She stayed silent either because she was in shock or because she didn't want me rampaging on her again.

I looked up at her, still perplexed, but gave her a grimace, if I'm the chosen one, what did she mean by one of the chosen ones... there are more?.

I mustered the guts to stand and walk past Zed and Riya as if they were ghosts and I couldn't see them. I stepped out of the narrow hallway and into the living room, the beautiful colors shone as the setting sun spread its rays through the glass of the window. I grabbed my bag, again checking for my pouch of gold coins, and ran out the door..

"Wait, Talon, let me explain." Riya pleaded with Zed, who stood behind her, and I could see from the expression of dread on his face that she had told him about my minor color change incident inside.

I was still enraged, so I turned around to avoid reliving the situation. I took a big breath. "I never told you, you knew I was the prince, but no one knows my name in Zagoroth, my parents made sure of it, so how?" I tried to keep my voice as natural as possible, but I couldn't maintain it steady enough for the young black fae I came to know as Maya walked up behind her.

"What's going on?" Her voice is as sweet as an angel. " He's one of the chosen." Zed burst out.

"I'm not…." I let out a sigh rolling my eyes then pointed at them. "Nothing like this has ever happened to me before, How could it happening now mean I'm the chosen one?"

There's a reason the project picks out teens who have just turned 18." Riya began to explain. "Talon please just come inside, and let us explain."

"If you really are one of them you can help us find Azova City." Zed added.

"You can assist us in locating Elenor." Riya knew that would make me give in; she was my weak link. I'd go to any length to get my sister back, but I wasn't going to abandon her. I could feel her presence someplace in my heart.

She was alive…

"You guys gave up on her and expect me to believe that you care about her?"

"You're simply exploiting me to go to that ridiculous city that you have no idea if it exists or not." My rage began to rise. It reached my heart and then rose to my neck. I stood outside the storefront.

"TALON GET INSIDE NOW!" Zed hissed, grabbing my hand and pulling me inside.

"Let me go." I pulled his hand away, unaware of my own strength in that moment and he let out a bloody scream before being struck out cold.

"I...I didn't really mean to injure him." I looked down at my hands, then back at him. Riya took him from one side, but he was too heavy for her, so Maya hoisted him up with ease and placed him on the table inside.

"It's all right, Talon, it's all right." She was attempting to calm me down and make sure I didn't cause any more harm. I followed her back inside, my gaze fixed on Zed, "is he going to be okay?" I pause, not wanting to know the answer to the inquiry.

"I think you just dislocated his arm, he's a big baby don't worry."

I let out a little chuckle, and for a short second, everything seemed normal. Riya was gazing at me with a small grin as I sat down, my smile gradually dissolving into a scowl. Riya drew a chair in front of me and said, "You're new to all of this, so it's natural for you to be confused. Let me explain the prophecy to you."

She nodded as she turned to face Maya. Maya appeared to understand exactly what she meant as she stepped up to a towering bookshelf and pushed it aside as though it weighted the same as a book.

It still astounded me how powerful a ten-year-old fae could be, but black fae's are famed for their strength and if she intended to kill me, her aim would be faultless and I'd be dead on the ground in seconds.

Maya instructed Riya to open the small hatch concealed behind the bookcase, which she did and stepped inside. A few seconds later, she emerged with a scroll, which surprised me because scrolls were no longer in use in the 23rd century.

She walked up to me and slid it open revealing the content inside, "the prophecy." She said in a slight whisper that shifted her head towards me.

I looked into her purple eyes, which had changed color from lilac to violet as they were no longer visible in the sun's rays, but I knew in a flash as she moved forward towards me that her beauty was breathtaking..

She began to read which pulled me out of my thoughts, I shook my head and focused.

When the world is most distressed

When the leaders are no longer trusted

When the world is separated to bits

Five fae's will take action while everyone else sits

Their colors will be unique and will show

All four colonies will fear them as their powers grow

At the age of 18 they'll find each other

And once they do they won't let go of one another

United they'll stand

But divided they'll fall

Once together, they'll bring peace to all
