"Sky? Sky? Wake up." I heard James's voice. "I won't carry you again, up to the room."
Again? When did he even carry me? Was it when we were getting out of the club? By the way, what was he doing there? A meeting? In a club? My head was not stopping the never ending thoughts, it was getting too much. I must have passed out when he came to me at the club. I open my eyes and find myself sitting in the car, with the door wide open and James standing in front of the door, looking at me, his hands in his pockets.
"What happened?" I ask, not knowing what happened after I passed out.
"Can you get up?" He asked, ignoring my question and leaning in.
"I think?" I tried to get up but stumbled, I was still feeling drunk because I wasn't quite aware what was going on. James caught me and sighed before carrying me up in his arms. I felt my face get warm and felt embarrassed too.
"Thank you." I said without looking at him and felt his gaze on me the whole time. I was starting to feel awkward and silly, because I knew it was my fault.
He opened and closed the door, while still holding me, removed my heels and dropped them. He went straight to the bed and placed me on the bed slowly and sat down on the edge, stretching his head from side to side exhaling loudly.
"What did I tell you in the morning?" He asked, not looking at me, his hands resting behind him.
"I'm sorry, I know it is my fault. I asked Mr. Elliot to drive me there." I say crossing my legs and sitting apologetically.
"I said that because I didn't want you to get in any trouble out here in an unknown city." He says, sighing.
"I know."
"Don't do it again, okay?"
"I won't." My head was still spinning and I fell back in bed. I got up again because I had to change, this dress was not feeling comfortable now. "I'll be back."
"Where are you going?" He asked me, following me to the wardrobe.
"Got to change, I don't feel comfortable in this." I said and placed my hand on his shoulder before I lost my balance and fell down. He held me by my waist, almost confused. "Thanks, again." I almost chuckled while saying this.
I turned back, James still holding me, and opened the wardrobe to find my bag. I pulled out my baggy hoodie and closed the door. I started to get my dress off when I felt his hand tighten around my waist.
"Woah! Wait, wait. I'll take you to the bed, and I'll go outside." He said pulling me with him and making me sit on the bed.
"Just turn around, you dumbass." I said tugging at his suit before he could walk away.
"I will go outside, you can sleep after changing." He said, not turning back.
"Nope, you're sleeping here, with me." I don't know what I was saying. I must be not in the right mind, seriously.
"What am I doing?" I heard him mutter under his breath before saying loudly. "Fine."
I curled up to one side of the bed, looked at James and patted the empty side. He almost rolled his eyes before removing his suit jacket and placing it on the couch. He slid beside me facing straight up and exhaling loudly.
"Turn over." I said.
He turned to look at me with questioning eyes, but turned over anyway. He closed his eyes and relaxed a bit. I was caught off guard when I looked at him closely. The way he looked right now, worn off and tired, his hair tousled up, the face with the dim light looked so breathtaking, I couldn't imagine myself getting married to such a man. It felt almost unreal. The white shirt was a perfect fit, revealing the shape of his muscles. He had a great build, I could tell, even with the shirt on. I could smell his cologne filling the space around me, the scent was addictive. My gaze went back to his face, falling down to his lips. They felt really soft when he kissed me in the ceremony. Thinking about that made my heartbeat quicken before I even noticed. My hand reached out to touch his face.
Right before I almost touched his cheek, his eyes opened and his eyes seemed even more blue in the dark. He didn't move or say anything, his eyes were focused on me. I couldn't look away, my eyes were locked and my hand which was still above his cheek had started to shiver. He seemed dangerous to me right now, at this very moment. I don't know him at all. Nothing about his life and with every moment that passes when we're together, I seem to get more and more curious.
I saw the gold cufflinks and the platinum rings on his fingers shine as he slowly reached out to hold my hand and place them in between us. My hand was still shivering as he held it, eyes still on me. I felt the grip tighten a little bit which made my hand stop trembling. He reached out his hand, brushed off the strand of hair falling down on my cheek and tucked it behind my ear. I felt the heat reach my ears and face. I looked down immediately embarrassed. His hand dropped which was holding mine and when I looked up, he was asleep. He would have been too tired, I guess. After a few seconds, my eyes started to droop too.
I woke up with a sudden jerk in the morning. It must have been a weird dream, I don't even remember it. My eyes stared widely at James, who was still sleeping beside me, still holding my hand. I blinked a few times, was I still dreaming? He was breathing slowly and evenly. I think he had a good rest after sleeping. I smiled and slowly pulled out my hand out of his hold, trying not to wake him up.
I tiptoed out of the room without making a single noise and straight into the bathroom. My head was heavy, I shouldn't be drinking around James, I don't know what I'll do or say if I'm not in control of my actions. The worst thing that can happen is, if I tell him about the lie.
I shake away the thoughts, before I got into a hypothetical train of thoughts. I was hungry, so I called and asked for breakfast. I was waiting for breakfast laying down on the couch, when my phone rang. It was Fiona.
"Hello?"
"Hey Sky, what's going on? You didn't even text me. Did you forget your sister in just two days?" She said, I could hear her smile through the phone, she could try all she wants to hide, she can't. I smiled, I miss her already.
"Oh yeah, totally. I'm sorry, I was busy yesterday traveling around in Paris and then at the club at night." I say, playing along.
"Woah, you're in Paris?" She seemed actually shocked. I thought she would have heard from Ryan. Maybe James didn't have a talk with him.
"Yeah, we reached at midnight after the wedding."
"Oh, I'm glad that everything worked out fine. I was worried that you didn't reply to my text. So I called you for the update. Are you okay? Is he treating you well? He didn't do anything to you, did he?" And there goes her question trail.
"I'm fine, Fiona. Don't worry. He's a busy person as you already know."
"Yeah, I know. Ryan did say that he stayed away from this relationship stuff before too. This was just for expanding his family business and having a strong family back theirs up." She says, sighing.
"Yeah." My heart felt a little heavy after listening to this, obviously it was the truth and no one could change that. "You take care of yourself okay? It is more necessary that you focus on yourself more than me."
Just then I heard quick footsteps out of the bedroom. I got up pulling myself up slightly enough to watch over the door. James walked out quickly looking around, and his eyes met mine. He relaxed a bit and I held my hand up mouthing him 'hi'. He walked and sat beside my leg.
"Hey, I'll call you back later, okay?" I asked my sister on the phone.
"Yeah sure. Let me know if something happens, okay?" She asked.
"Yeah, I will. Love you." I say and cut the call. I see James, raising an eyebrow. "My sister."
"Oh." He leaned back and rested his head on the couch.
"Did something happen? You woke up looking worried." I ask him.
"Uh, yeah, no nothing happened. I was just shocked." He said sitting straight.
"Shocked because?"
"Nothing. I haven't slept this much in a while. I was worried if I would be late." He says getting up.
"Oh."
"I'll call for breakfast." He said picking up the telephone, right in the queue, the doorbell rang.
"I already called." I said sheepishly and got up to go take the breakfast.
"Thank you." I said to the lady staff as she left the breakfast in the room.
I looked around and James was already gone. I walked around to find him and heard the sound of shower running in the bath. I went back to the couch and sat down waiting for him to come back. After twenty minutes, he walked out with a peach shirt, black pants and a suit jacket in his hand.
"Do you only own suits?" I asked.
"No. I choose to wear them." He smiled forcefully and sat down on the couch in front of me.
"Okay. Can we eat now? I'm hungry." I say, patting my stomach.
"Sure you are." He says under his breath.
"Can you speak up sir?" I say tilting my head and holding out my ear.
"Let's eat. We're going out." He says and starts to eat.
"We? Where?" I was surprised.
"To the island."
