" I said I'm not having dinner!!" Alyssa yelled from under the duvet when the door opened. She heard it close softly and sighed thinking the maid had gone back with the food.
" Why?"
Alyssa pressed her lips then opened it . " I don't have ap..." Her eyes widened and she quickly removed the duvet and knelt on the bed immediately.
Quinn sighed and dropped the tray he was holding beside her. He switched on the room light and thoughtfully stared at her face.
Her nose and eyes were red and puffy like she had been crying for a long time.
He also moved and sat down on the edge of the bed. " You should try to eat something even if you're not hungry." Quinn scolded her in a very gentle way.
"I...I don't have appetite " Alyssa said with her head lowered. Somewhere in heart knew he was about to visit Tina judging from his attire.
Quinn gave her a soothing smile. There was no way he was going to explain that he had almost gotten to the restaurant when he received a call that she refused to eat dinner. He quickly ordered his driver to take him back home.
"Now eat" He ordered sternly but Alyssa didn't budge a little. She still kept her head low fiddling with her fingers.
"I don't feel like eating. I'm going to sleep" She said and buried herself under the duvet again.
Quinn rubbed his forehead. He wasn't used to persuading anyone. He was already short of words.
" I will drop it here. Make sure to eat before it gets cold." He said and walked out of the room.
Alyssa sat up on her bed and her once calm eyes became red again. " Why, Why are you so nice to me? Please don't make me get the wrong idea" She whispered staring at the door of her room.
*Tina is already very nice and understanding. It won't be a nice thing to start developing feelings for Mr Winters* She concluded and stared at the food, her mouth watering in delight. She was about to take a bite when a ringtone filled the room. She knew right away that it must be Quinn Winters phone. She brought it out and saw the caller was Tina. Her heart squeezed in pain but remembering her resolve, she quietly walked out of the room to knock his door.
" Come in"
Alyssa gently walked into the room quite ,afraid to make a sound. She eyes flew open seeing Quinn with only a single white towel that hung loosely around his waist.
"I...I'll come later" She said and turned to leave but missed her step and tripped falling on her butt right in front of Quinn.
Quinn stared at her for a while and then burst out laughing. Alyssa touched her red nose in embarrassment.
" Here. Come up" He stretched his hand out to lift her up.
The next morning while they were having breakfast, Quinn suddenly informed her they were going out.
As obedient as Alyssa was, she quickly got dressed and headed down the stairs. She met him waiting for her with his hands shoved in his pocket. She took a deep breath as she walked up to him.
" We're going to visit the dean" Quinn said as soon as the car started moving. He had long sensed her curiosity as she quietly sat beside him opening and closing her mouth like she was contemplating on if she should speak.
" Uh?" Alyssa turned to look at him with confusion written over her face. Her heart began beating fast thinking it was some kind of formal visit to the dean. She looked down at her clothes and sighed. There were numerous beautiful gown in her closet but she was uncomfortable wearing them and that was the reason she wore her ripped jean over an oversized hoodie.
Quinn smiled slightly and reached to hold her hand but stopped in time. He didn't want to scare her.
" Don't worry, it's just a normal visit. Although college lectures commenced about two months ago, judging from your high IQ, you should do just fine."
Alyssa adjusted her glasses that was about to slid down. The confusion on her face didn't diminish but rather it got intensified and her brain refused to process his words. She could only nod and gazed at the trees that ran past their car through the window.
Quinn leisurely walked into the campus closely filled by Alyssa whose head was lowered down with the hood covering her head and most parts of her face. All eyes were on Quinn, openly gawking at him. Some even took the liberty to take pictures but were stopped by the deathly glare of the bodyguards that accompanied them.
" Mr. Winters!! It's so nice to have you in my humble office " Mr Davidson said as he shook hands with Quinn. His eyes was twinkling with excitement.
Alyssa peeked at the man through her lowered lashes. He looked really young except for some white hair peeking out of his neatly trimmed hair.
" Pardon my manners. Please have a seat " He said as he led them sit comfortably on the couch in his office. He quickly walked away only to arrive with coffee.
" You don't have to be so courteous " Quinn commented as the dean placed a cup of coffee before him.
Mr Davidson smiled in response. That was when his eyes went to the nerd sitting awkwardly on the couch. The presence of Quinn greatly overshadowed her.
" You must be Alyssa Algernon right"
She was extremely surprised he knew her name. She nodded and shook his outstretched hand out of politeness.
The three of them discussed for quite a long while before finally reaching a conclusion.
" I will see you around Miss Alyssa" Mr Davidson said with a bright smile and gave her a pat in the shoulder. As Quinn and Alyssa made their way to the door, Mr Davidson's voice rang out.
" One minute Miss Alyssa. Would you prefer to stay at the dorm?"
" Yes!" She replied without hesitation. After thinking it through the previous night, the best way is to stay away from him.
Quinn's face darkened hearing her quick reply. It seemed she was very eager to stay away from him. It made him wonder if he hasn't been treating her well enough. He also gave it a thought and decide not to complain. It was her decision to make.
On their way back, the journey was stiff and silent unlike when they were visiting the college earlier. The temperature in the car was colder than usual and Alyssa sensed it was emanating from the handsome guy seated beside her and working on his laptop with a frown on his face.
Quinn lifted his head up and was about to look at her, she quickly turned her gaze away from him hitting her forehead against the window glass with a very loud bang.
" Oww...'' She grimaced tightly holding onto her forehead.
' Good for you Ally. Yesterday you got injured and still haven't healed. Today you hit your forehead so hard that it will form a big bump'
" Are you okay?" Quinn attentively asked setting his laptop aside in haste.
Alyssa quickly moved away from him still holding her head. " Okay...I'm okay" She said without emotion silently cursing both him and her heart.
Quinn looked really disappointed as she moved away from him. When she finally dropped her hands down, he saw the spot swollen and slightly red. Even her eyes were teary. He pursed his lips and ordered the driver to drive to the hospital.
Alyssa's eyes widened at his order. She quickly shook her head in protest. " I'm really fine. It's just a small ..." A stern look from Quinn was enough to keep her mouth shut till they got to the hospital.
After her treatment, she decided to visit Alexia's ward knowing her sister would be quite bored and she also wanted to share the good news with her.
" Alright then, I will pick you up in the evening" Quinn said gently.
" No need for that. You can send your driver just like yesterday '' She recalled he had promised to pick her up but instead, sent a driver.
" He won't be be available " He said coldly and walked away from her leaving a chilling air behind.
Alyssa shrugged her shoulders and headed to Alexia's ward where she met her sleeping soundly with the IV attached to her hand.
She became boded after sitting for a while. Mason was schooling in another city and won't be back till after a week or so. She had no phone to play with and no one to talk to.
An idea occurred to her so she rummaged through her backpack and brought out her sketch pad to draw.
