Chapter 3 - A New World Part 2

For almost four hours, the Maid that Axel came to know as Millie answered all his questions patiently and gave him as detailed information as she could. The more Axel heard, the more his mind felt like it was being blown up. But there were many key points that he picked up on.

First of the key points was that Axel's actual name in this new body was Alissia Greyworth. His now Her, supposed father, was a high court mage in the Kingdom of Gransdale. A kingdom that was highly advanced in the ways of magic technology and magic cultivation.

At first, when Alissia heard about this supposed cultivation thing, she was a bit confused as she had never heard of such things back on Earth, the world she came from. But in this world that was called Novagarnia, Magic and special abilities were something that was very common.

Magic, of course, related to all elements that were known to man. It consisted of the base elements: Fire, Wind, Earth, and Water. Then there were other elements like lightning, space time magic, etc.… Each person was born with what was called a mana body. Or, well, this was how it was supposed to be. Currently, the body that Alissia possessed was one of the few that had no mana body. This was not known until the day she turned five years of age, and Alissia was deemed to not have a mana body. It was then that her father, Frederick Greyworth, cast her aside and only gave her the bare minimum to live.

She had become an embarrassment to his name, and he wanted nothing to do with her, so he shut her inside the estate in a guest quarters far from the main house. Only with the provided bare necessities, Alissia was able to live until this day, but she was also prone to sickness and very weak.

It was the other day when the original Alissia heard that the prince was here to visit that she hurriedly took out the only good dress she owned and readied herself to meet him. Her only saving grace was her engagement to the crown prince of the Kingdom of Gransdale. She had dreamt and hoped that when she married she could finally have a better life.

The only reason Alissia was able to get this engagement was because the king saw her beauty and wanted to allow his son to have a beautiful wife. Even if she was useless, Alissia could still be a trophy wife. Even though she knew all of this, she still dreamt of at least being treated like a human being. Or so she thought. When the Crown Prince arrived, he brought with him another woman. Who hugged his arms and acted intimately with him. She gritted her teeth and tried to ignore the situation and went to ask the Crown Prince why he came to visit only for the girl, Emilia Dillon, whose father was also a high court mage, to call her trash and attack her with earth magic. It seemed this was the reason they came over because both Emilia and the Crown Prince laughed as if it was the funniest thing in the world, not caring for how much they hurt Alissia. They only stopped when she collapsed to the ground, heavily injured. And as for her father? He only told the servants of the house to drag her back to her room.

Hearing all of this, the new Alissia could only assume that the original Alissia had succumbed to her injuries. But how she came to take over this body, she did not know. She only knew that those two people needed a punch in the face. Alissia was never one to care too much about gender. If a girl was beating someone for no reason at all, she would still stand up and fight that girl without any hesitation. To her, if you are willing to commit acts of villainy, then there was no reason for her to hold back. But at least now, if she were to do it since she was originally a he and was now a she, it would not be as frowned upon.

Then there were those who had special abilities. They ranged from people who could harden their skin to be as strong as armor to those with animal traits that could make them run very fast or hear things from further away. They were people who, along with their magic, could excel in this world and normally became a high court mage. Like her father had the ability to liquefy his body and could fight anyone with ease except those with ice magic.

But the most confusing part about this world for Alissia was this thing called mana bodies and the cultivation. It seemed that every being on the planet was made of a substance called magicules. Magicules could be taken into the body by using special methods to refine it and infuse it into the body, allowing one to grow stronger.

Alissia also learned there was some kind of ranking system that also proved one's status. If one's power was strong, then they were much more respected in the kingdom. Currently, the strongest in the kingdom was the king himself at grandmaster mage. While her father was only a master mage. In this kingdom, there were only three master mages that were working for the kingdom. This did not count those who did not have any official status. But even still, these individuals would still be treated with respect.

The things that they called stages that Millie knew of since she was nothing more than a mere maid and did not know much about the world except for what was widely known, was first, mortal, a stage for those like Alissia who had no mana body. Magicule sensing, novice mage, apprentice mage, mage, master mage, and grandmaster mage. Each stage was then further broken down into nine ranks, except for magicule sensing, which was only three ranks.

Up to this part, Alissia's head was killing her since it was all information that was hard to understand. As for mana bodies, it started off at zero and went up to ten. But the highest anyone had in this kingdom was only rank five, and there were only a few people who had these mana bodies. One being the king himself and the other being the crown prince. Mana bodies decided how far your cultivation could reach before stagnating.
