Chereads / WANTED : RUNAWAY GROOM / Chapter 11 - Sophie or Camellia?

Chapter 11 - Sophie or Camellia?

The art on Pamela's nails almost ruined as she had been fidgeting and kept on pressing her nails against each other. Christie at the back of the car kept her mouth shut and her head down, did not dare to say any words

"Are you listening??!" Andrew lost his temper. The reason Pamela gave, made him mad and suspicious. She said the chairman suddenly burst in anger when she brought Christie in. He knew the chairman longer than he knew her but saying he got mad just because she brought Christie in was unjustifiable. The chairman was not that kind of person.

The silence that she received from her made him stop and park his car on the side of the road, "And tell me, why did you bring her along?!"

She made a pitiful face, "I just want to introduce her…"

Andrew's chest was seen moving up and down as he breathed in and out trying to calm down himself. When he entered the room the first time after coming back from the toilet, he didn't realise Christie was there but then he went back for the second time, he himself was curious what was Christie doing there?

"Don't! Just don't ever do that again! He might appear soft as he is getting older now, but he can just ruin us like this, if he wants!" He snapped his finger as a signal that that's going to be easy for the chairman.

"I won't." Pamela looked down the whole time. Her mind was now messed up but she needed to think on how to get out from the big mistake that they had made today. For now, Andrew might accept the reason that she gave but she was sure the chairman wouldn't close his mouth for long about this.

As the chairman entered the living room, he saw Adam and Alexander were having a chat. Seeing the frown that was formed between Michael's brow, his sons figured something was wrong.

Glancing at the floor clock at the corner, Adam asked, "Did something happen? It is not that long since you are gone."

Michael didn't answer Adam's question, instead he walked to the sofa and had a seat. After his breath calmed down, he turned to Alexander who was looking at his phone right now, "The marriage, we need to bring it forward."

Alexander didn't budge, as he never thought Michael was currently talking to him. He continued scrolling social media until he saw something shocking that made his finger stop.

"Alexander! I'm talking to you!" Michael had lost his patience. For the fact, Alexander's behaviour only triggered the anger that he had been holding since earlier.

Sighed. "What? Did I do something wrong again?" He was agitated; the update from Melinda's friend's social media made him upset. He felt the urge to check the truth of the news but now his dad was getting on his nerves.

"I said, we need to discuss bringing forward your wedding."

"Ah! This again! I thought we were done with this." He stood up as he was feeling outraged.

"Who said? Whatever it is, you need to proceed with this marriage!" He was so adamant about this. At first, he did this just to fulfil what was written by her dad on his will but then after so many years, he had grown to love Camellia like his own daughter. He needed to bring Camellia out of that house, because what just happened earlier showed how the situation she handled everyday. Having a stepmom and stepsister that even dared to replace her for their own benefit, she sure suffered a lot.

Alexander ended up laughing because of the absurdity of the situation, "Wait, wait, wait.." He stopped, took a breath then continued, "In case you forgot, you have two sons, see…" He pointed to himself then went to Adam.

"Don't involve me in this situation…" Adam said as he leaned on the sofa and crossed his arm.

"I heard you are so close with her, why don't you be the one that got married to her." He looked at Adam and proposed just to infuriate his dad more.

"Me? And Sophie??" Adam straightened his body as he heard that.

"Sophie?? Ahh yes, whatever her name is." That was the truth, he didn't even remember her name. It was either when they mentioned her name, he didn't care a bit or he never knew about her name at all.

"Do you think she is a toy that you can pass to anyone??" Michael's eyes became sharper, glaring at his second son that was now trying to challenge his decision.

"Then what makes you different??!" In his mind, his dad was the same. Marriage was not like playing house, how could force him to get married to someone that he didn't love and worse he didn't even know anything about her.

"Alex…" Adam's voice echoed in that room as the others turned quiet. He thought Alexander was over the line, after all, he was talking to their father.

"If your main reason is to make me get married, I will choose my own bride. But, if your reason is to get me to marry her, no! I won't." He stated his mind.

"Then after twelve years, you ask me to break the promise I made to her?" Michael gasped in disbelief.

"Yes! Your promise, not mine." He stressed out the word 'your' to remind Michael that he never took part in this thing.

"She waited-"

"I didn't ask her to wait and you dad, want me to marry this girl, that is being dumb enough to wait for a man that don't even know about her existence!" Being too mad, he cut his dad that was trying to speak.

Adam stood up, he needed to intervene. If not, Alexander's mouth would vocalise more of his dissatisfaction and he was sure that it would come out as sharp as a knife.

"Stop Alex." Adam stood in front of him, trying to stop more from coming.

"Why? Why did this stupid arranged marriage only implemented on me and not you." He pushed Adam's shoulder hard as he found this whole thing was ridiculous.

"And do you think this is unfair?? Don't you think you are being unfair to me, to dad and to her too? You've gone for twelve years, having your freedom! Can't you at least give in and get to know her!" Adam started to feel upset, he covered a lot of things for him and just because he was chosen for this arranged marriage, he thought he was mistreated for his entire life!

Michael at the back already felt dizzy. "Just stop, if you find it unfair I will put a stop to all of this. I will find a way to give Camellia a better life."

"Come again, Camellia?"
