"Come on, let's go to your treasury." Zane said with a smile picking up Aurora and exiting the treasury.
Without him needing to ask, once the light died down from the transportation an arrow appeared in his vision. Looking where it was pointing a circle highlighted a building in his vision a few miles away.
He shot off in that direction with Aurora on his back.
After a few seconds, he arrived. This treasury was identical to the previous one.
Aurora channeled her bloodline after some teaching from Zane. A teleportation circle appeared a moment later. Zane stepped through it with Aurora on his back.
When the light faded Zane was impressed, this time it wasn't just a 3-floor pavilion, no, it was an entire palace built on a floating island in the sky!
However, he didn't have time to be surprised for long because a barrage of arrows came soaring down from the sky at a speed faster than sound.
It was heading for Aurora!
Zane didn't have time to think of another solution, he used his wing to shield her and coiled up around her.
*Puchi!*
*Puchi!*
*Puchi!*
Several dozen arrows pierced his skin and blood seeped down.
Aurora's eyes began tearing up, even though she couldn't see what happened she heard his skin being pierced and smelled the blood.
That sadness turned to rage when…
"ROOOOOOOOOOOOAR!" Zane howled in pain. These arrows were extremely painful!
The person behind Zane didn't act… So long as his soul remained it was fine, both of them could be reincarnated once more.
Besides, this could be a good opportunity for him.
Another barrage was about to arrive when Aurora's bloodline activated. A phantom of a much larger saint dragon appeared and its roar was deafening.
"ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAR!"
The saint dragon soul fragment looked around and noticed where they were, looking over it saw Zane protecting Aurora with his life.
"Alfred! What's the meaning of this!" A loud voice boomed. Zane was still too stunned at the sudden turn of events to react.
"I was just doing my duty to protect the treasury from intruders, mam." A deep voice replied with his voice echoing across the sky.
"How are they intruders?" The female saint dragon replied in anger.
"They didn't have your token."
"Of course, they wouldn't have my token! The clan is gone! Besides the treasure guardians, they are the last 2 saint dragons alive! The clan was gone before they were even born!"
The powerful aura of the treasure guardian wavered upon hearing this.
"Your lying, mam. You have to be." The guardian said in denial.
"If you don't believe me, I'll show you." She replied and an orb of light shot out of the soul fragment's head.
It entered the palace and silence reigned for a few minutes.
"T-T-This has to be fabricated! W-Where is Andromeda?! Where is my wife?"
"She's gone… I'm sorry."
Suddenly a colossal pressure rose to the sky and aimed to crash down on Zane.
"You 2 are the cause of this! So you must die!"
The saint dragon soul remnant didn't even have time to react, however, she didn't need to.
[Class 10 fatal threat detected.]
[Probability of death: 100%]
[Protocol 3: Protect the host.]
[Guardian awakened.]
A pressure thousands of times more terrifying than the guardians erupted from Zane's body.
Zane's golden eyes began glowing intensely as his white sclera began glowing a blinding gold as well. It looked like he was possessed by a deity!
When in reality, he was possessed by Alina. The true Alina.
She opened her eyes and glared at the guardian through the palace walls.
Instantly the guardian began feeling suffocated and his aura shattered into pieces as he coughed up blood and blood began rushing down his nose.
It seemed as if he was withering too.
However, she wasn't looking so good either. Zane's body was also beginning to dry up like a husk.
When she noticed this and that he began bleeding out of his eyes, etc, she stopped the possession.
Before she did though she looked at the soul of Aurora's mother, and gave her lots of soul power.
[Take care of them, I must go back into slumber.]
The presence of Alina vanished back into Zane's body and he collapsed to the ground. He had nearly instantly passed out when Alina took over. His soul could barely handle her awakened presence.
The soul of Aurora's mother sighed. She looked over to the guardian and noticed his soul was dead but his body was intact, although damaged.
'Did she do that on purpose?'
Aurora's mother hesitated but in the end, she took over the guardian's body. Although the guardian was a male, she could easily change his gender in the near future. She went to the 3rd floor and grabbed a few herbs that would be necessary for the process, she then grabbed some herbs to help heal Zane.
It was then she heard Aurora crying.
Her heart melted and dashed over. Seeing her trying to get Zane to wake up she knew she thought Zane was dead…
[He's fine, sweety.] The woman assured.
Aurora ignored her and kept trying.
The woman sighed.
Aurora's tears were flowing faster and faster… she tried for an entire hour before she turned to outright wailing.
Her mother felt pain in her heart seeing this.
Aurora cried for the entire day before snuggling up against Zane's slightly cold body and closing her eyes while tears still flowed from her face.
Aurora's mother tried to offer her water but she refused.
For 3 days and 3 nights, she didn't eat or drink… Even though she was a dragon this was bad for her health and she had grown noticeably thinner and rather bony in certain areas she shouldn't.
On the 4th day her breathing became a little shallow, Zane still hadn't woken up.
Finally, on the 5th day, he woke up.
When he felt something cold against his belly he looked down and noticed the pale Aurora.
Sadness, Rage, Anger, Concern, Despair… Countless emotions instantly piled through his mind.
His anger was so strong he lost control of his aura. His killing intent grew so thick that it flooded this entire pocket dimension where the treasury was held.
This caused Aurora's mother to have cold sweat on her back.
She didn't show herself despite knowing he was awake… She was afraid.
Zane managed to calm down an hour later, Aurora's eyes fluttered as she was waking up.
When she noticed his head looking at her, happiness flashed in her eyes.
She weakly smiled and tried to stand up but couldn't… She was so weak.
Zane's anger flared for a moment causing her to flinch. He stopped immediately seeing this.
He took a few breaths to calm down.
'How long was I out, Alina?'
[5 days, 22 hours, 16 minutes, 23 seconds. You're going to be late to the golden dragon ruins if you don't leave in 3 hours.]
Zane felt bad… No wonder she was so thin.
'Couldn't you have tried to access my ring to try and feed her?'
[I didn't need to, her mother had been trying to feed her but she refused.]
'Wait, her mothers alive?'
[Yea, originally it was only in soul form but she took over the guardian's body after I killed his soul. She was hiding in Aurora this entire time, slowly recovering the damage to her soul.] She responded.
Zane sighed.
[It's also why Aurora hasn't been able to awaken her universal communication skill. Her soul was too weak. A quarter of the energy it's producing had been going to her mother to help recover her soul.]
A dangerous glint appeared in his eyes hearing this… Knowing his thoughts Alina responded [She didn't do it with ill intentions. She wanted to recover her soul to protect her child.]
Zane understood.
'Call her here, tell her to bring some food too.' Zane couldn't contact her himself as he didn't have her spiritual signature to track.
[Done.] Alina responded a few seconds later.
A quivering saint dragon flew down from the sky.
She had changed this saint dragon's gender already and transformed it permanently back to her past self. Unfortunately, she could do nothing about the fact that the guardian wasn't born with as many meridians as she was. So her power at the same level had been reduced, on top of her still injured soul.
"H-How can I help you?" She asked with a slightly shaky voice. Her voice is identical to her soul form because she transformed the dragon's vocal cords as well.
She brought out some gutted cooked fish from her spatial storage ring.
Zane looked her in the eyes, standing up himself.
"You're her mother?" Zane asked with a neutral expression.
She nodded submissively. How could she not be afraid of this person? He had a heroic soul inside him!
As for why the immortal didn't help Zane, it's because she decided she can't help him without consequences forever. He needs to learn a bit. She noticed he was growing a bit dependent on her because her help had little to no consequences. Maybe using soul possession would change that as it had a bit of consequence mainly that he passed out for 5 days.
...
A/N: Heyo everyone! As you can tell from the chapter title, today is the last day for WPC#300! So, let's try to get as many power stones as possible today! We have 103 power stones, let's get to 125! We can do it! We can secure our position in 4th place!
Also, I would love if we can get some reviews of the book so far in the reviews section, I'd like some feedback.
