A/N: Hello everyone, I need to address something. First, chapters will no longer be guaranteed to have 1500 words, I have other matters to attend to besides the book. However, I will guarantee at the very least 1000 words. I hope you can understand. Other than that, I hope you enjoy the golden dragon ruins arc.
...
Zane and Anne were holding hands as they fell through the vortex, the force of the vortex tried to separate them but failed. It looked like they were traveling through the cosmos at insane speeds, seeing countless galaxies come and go.
"It should take about 10 minutes for us to arrive." Anne said.
Zane nodded "Then the golden dragon realm is probably not an isolated space but rather another world altogether…" he muttered.
Anne was stunned at the prospect of this.
"What makes you think that?"
"Back at the clan, I studied the basic principles of teleportation arrays out of curiosity. The further away the destination the more time it takes to arrive… the circle back there surrounding the pond wasn't an array but a full-blown formation designed for long-distance travel, and it was probably above a tier 10 formation too."
"That's one part that convinces me of that fact. The next part is the phenomena were seeing through the spatial tunnel. Those look a lot like various galaxies, a collection of stars ranging from a thousand to tens of billions. Combined with the long travel time, it makes sense that were being transferred several million worlds away."
Anne was surprised… Such deductions… "What do you think happened?"
"To the golden dragons? I couldn't say for certain. However, a few dozen possibilities do pop up in my mind. 1 of them is probably pretty close to the truth." Zane replied.
Anne nodded.
"Does any of them mean attending the ruins is very dangerous?"
Zane nodded "Yeah, a few of them do, but it's nothing we can't handle."
They talked for a bit, before a flash of bright light filled their vision causing them to close their eyes. When they opened them again, they found themselves in a beautiful meadow. Floating islands could be seen dotted around the sky.
An ancient city could also be seen in the distance. Its walls were easily 50 meters high.
Zane smiled "The mortal prefecture of the Golden Dragon Ruins."
Anne smiled "You did your research."
Zane nodded "The golden dragon ruins are split into 4 layers, 4 planes of existence if you will. These layers form the 4 prefectures. Unfortunately due to the spiritual restrictions placed this time few will be able to ascend past the mortal prefecture. A 3rd profound realm foundation at least is required to ascend to the earth prefecture."
She nodded "I heard there was a famous jewelry shop in the earth prefecture. Supposedly they were working on an 8th Heaven rank exalted life-saving artifact in the form of a bracelet before the golden dragons disappeared… It was supposed to be one of their best pieces yet."
"That's what you want?" Zane asked curiously and she nodded slowly.
Zane smiled "If that's the case I don't mind killing a few people to get it for you."
Anne shook her head with a wry smile.
Killing was common in a world with spiritualists. Things tend to revert to the laws of the jungle when certain people have more strength than others. It was just that there was a certain level of morality added to it. (The old usually don't bully the young.) So she wasn't averted to the idea. She, herself, had killed her fair share of individuals.
Zane took a deep breath.
With a single step, he and Anne crossed a mile. A few more steps and he was in front of the city gates.
2 statues of dragon newts lowered their spears in an X formation.
"Halt." A distorted voice rang out.
"Present your identification."
Zane nodded, with a thought his colossal bloodline aura was unleashed. Of course, it was disguised by Alina to be similar to that of a royal black dragon.
Such a powerful bloodline aura caused the wind to shift and the ground to slightly chip.
The spears raised "You may pass."
The golden dragons never forbade other dragon species from coming to their realm. So long as the individual has even a drop of even the most impure dragon's blood, they are allowed entrance into the mortal prefecture. It doesn't matter whether they inherited that blood genetically or obtained it through other methods.
Zane smiled and his bloodline aura vanished.
With that, he walked forward with Anne and what greeted them was a desolate city. Despite the vines and overgrown plants all over the place, its past glory could still be felt.
Zane closed his eyes and focused on his instincts. The reason he went to this city was not that it was the closest, but because he felt a certain pull to it.
Closing his eyes he waited for a few minutes. His head then snapped in a certain direction and he smiled lightly.
"A few drops of a common Wyvern's blood essence… Although it's impure, I can refine the impurities out of it later." He muttered as he opened his eyes. Dragons were very sensitive to the blood of anything with dragon's blood.
Anne followed him as he shot off in a certain direction.
They arrived outside a large 3-story mansion centered around a large 75x75 meter courtyard with a garden. Of course, the flowers and plants in that garden were mostly wilting now.
The problem was... a thick bubble barrier could be seen surrounding it. The thickness varied at certain points and the bubble was warped, but the defensive formation was still active nonetheless.
This was an ancient defensive formation left behind by the former owners of this mansion.
Zane sighed "Although the barrier has decayed, it's not something someone in the martial order of spiritualism could break… Not alone at least."
Zane looked to Anne and she nodded.
"Let's find the weakest point of the barrier first."
They circled around the large mansion inspecting the barrier from all sides before they found the weakest point.
"How many drops are inside?" Anne asked as they got into position.
"There should be anywhere between 6 and 12." Zane responded.
She nodded.
Their blood began powerfully pumping through their bodies as they prepared to strike the weakest part of the barrier at the same time.
Spiritual Energy flooded the duo's bodies before gathering in their fists.
Someone who also came to this city shivered feeling such a powerful aura from a part of the city.
*BANG!*
Their fists slammed into the same part of the barrier.
