Arianell and I were asking Centaur Abas where Daniel was, the vessel that contained both the incubus who had just left and Centaur Abas himself. He said,
"Look below me... "
And as both of Arianell and I were looking behind Daniel's desk, Centaur Abas jumped to the window and went outside. He was in a transparent state like he didn't have a material body. So he jumped through the wall without breaking it. All of a sudden both Arianell and I followed where the centaur fled. He landed easily on the ground with his light body, looking up at us and he ran into the darkness of the night.
"Did I just let the creature who violated me run away?" Arianell questioned herself.
Even, I still needed to process the strange event that just happened before my eyes.
[Really? You wanna fight a mythical creature that is 4000 more years old? I don't think so. We can't kill the incubus as well. That thing is as old as Lilith.]
"Then what should we do with him?" Arianell pointed at a bald man that looked like Daniel was sleeping on the floor. He looked like he was in a deep sleep.
[Let him be, all of those weren't his doing. And, Anne ... you're naked.]
Suddenly she covered her breasts and her lower body part. I chuckled. But she panicked.
"What should I do, I dunno how to change to the wolf again. But we all are practically naked, right? You, that centaur, and I?"
[Yup, well. I can let you ride on my back if you let me shift a little bit bigger. By the way, grab that jacket on the chair. Cover your upper body, it's going to be cold outside.]
Arianell took the jacket and put it on while I was shifting to a bigger wolf so she could ride on my back. But before she hopped on my back, she saw something.
"Wait, Akrem. How the hell is dad's watch on Daniel's working desk?"
I tried to hide that I knew the incubus killed her dad. But this was too obvious that my hunch was right.
[Maybe he forgot to put it along with the evidence.]
"No way, Akrem. Detective G said that Dad was hard to be recognized because he didn't have his watch with him which has his initial KC on its back."
Arianell grabbed the watch and read at the back of it. She mumbled,
"My beloved wife and daughter. You both are always in my heart. KC. Indeed, this is Dad's. Why, Krem?"
[Don't you know? The incubus was the killer.]
I couldn't answer with another reason, finally, she needed to know.
Suddenly, she was silent. I knew it was too much to process.
[Anne, hop on my back, I'll take you back to the mansion, you need to get some rest.]
"Wait, Krem. What about the suspect? He's going to be sentenced to death this Saturday."
[No worries, Anne. Tomorrow I'll check the perimeter. It's in the north, right? With your dad's scent from one of his belonging or that watch, I can track his scent. We'll think of something to stop that man to be sentenced to death.]
"I hope you're right, Krem. Can we go home now? I'm exhausted."
[Hop on and hold tight to my fur.]
She hopped on my back and I jumped from the wide opened window and landed smoothly on the ground. I ran as fast as I could to the mansion. She held my fur tight then she hugged my neck. I could feel warm water between my fur. She was crying...
***************************************
Back in the mansion, Arianell asked me the thing that I had tried to forget that always reminded me of how incapable I was as her alpha to fail her in protection that should be my priority as an alpha, and especially she was my Luna.
"Was he in love, Krem?" Arianell asked me and I acted like I didn't know whom she asked. That darn incubus still lingered in her mind.
"Who? I know I'm madly in love with you." That was the only line that I could think of to distract her from her thoughts about Daniel.
It seemed like she had regret in killing the incubus. Still, we needed to check what happened to Daniel's body and find a way to rescue the poor man who was going to be sentenced to death.
But I needed to distract myself from the fact that I had bigger problems in solving the case. So I praised her,
"Who wouldn't fall in love with you, Anne? You're practically the life itself. Only a fool man can't appreciate the beauty of you, inside and outside."
She blushed, and I didn't care. She was my Luna and I intended to keep her forever. So words and lines like those, she needed to suck them up because she was going to hear them again and again from me, for the rest of her life.
Then I continued the fact that she needed to hear, and that it was a bitter fact that she needed to comprehend her condition as an Empath. She needed to know that she'd be in danger all the time whenever there was an incubus after her. But I'd have to make sure that she got the idea that I'd protect her no matter what.
"Anne… you need to know that the succubi or precisely in the form of incubi will always hunt you down because a female Empath like you is the source of their lives. Your desire, sexual, and lustful juice is the biggest source of their lives and they could live a thousand years without feeding others after they feed on you. And the case of Daniel, it was easy for us to ask him nicely to leave that poor man's body because the incubus felt full. I believe it was time for the incubus to do good and Centaur Abas was in pain doing those terrible things, so he pushed the incubus to get outside of Daniel's body. But you need to remember this, 'Anne. No matter what happens, I'll protect you, till death do us apart."
I firmed my grip on her delicate human shoulders, so soft and chewy.
"Oh, Akrem… why does it sound like a marriage proposal?" she smirked.
