The group advanced through the forest, with a more relaxed Rebeca throwing small pieces of branches at Brian while she asked him an occasional indiscreet question. Sofia relaxed, listening to Brian's reactions.
The image of the murderous Brian was lost with the typical answers of a shy teenager to the questions Rebeca threw.
Neferet let out small laughs when listening to Brian getting stuck.
"Now, Brian," Rebeca said before, throwing a piece of branch pointing at Brian's already reddened ears. She continued, "Imagine we decide to take off the heat in another pond we find, and you have the opportunity to take a quick look before we discover you. Who are you looking at?"
Brian advanced in silence while Rebeca whistled at him and said, "Answer, or I'll start throwing stones."
Letting out a sigh, Brian covered his ears with his hands holding his spear against his chest with his arms, and said quietly, "I have a 360-degree vision in adrenaline situations."
The girls laughed at Rebeca's mischievous question, but Neferet took special note of that interrogation, which was apart from annoying him.
Exchanging an occasional look of complicity with Rebeca, the girls had already discovered that Brian had heightened senses of sight and hearing.
They also knew that bright colors or fast-moving lights would capture his attention for a few seconds and that his pupil change was almost involuntary.
Rebeca kept whistling before she looked at him and then asked, "Now, Brian, can you say our measurements from memory?"
Pausing for a second, Brian slowly turned around. His face was completely red, and his pupils were somewhat dilated. They looked like two large black dots surrounded by a small burgundy halo as he said shakily, "Your measures?" Brian's gaze studied the girls slowly.
Rebeca and Neferet exchanged glances. With a smile, Neferet cupped her breasts with her arms, and Rebeca gave her butt a quick smack as they smiled at Brian, who quickly turned around.
"How could I know that?" He asked.
The girls laughed until they heard the closest voices. Seeing through the trees the silhouettes of the group that Brian had said.
The laughter faded to a faint silence as they began to draw closer. Neferet recognized the yellow mane of Armin, who was kneeling on the ground, touching with his finger a thin line of black water that crossed the center of an apparent dirt road.
Raising his voice, she said, "It's the reconnaissance team. We found them." She turned her head to see Sofia, who had a radiant and peaceful smile.
Both girls stepped forward while Brian and Rebeca slowed down. Rebeca gently threw the last branch off her, hitting Brian's cheek said, "Hey."
Rebeca's emerald eyes stood out on her slightly tanned white skin when she said, "If we leave now, we'll continue alone."
Brian shook his head and, raising his eyes to the sky, said, "The sky is darkening, and we are in the middle of the forest." Brian's pupils recovered their normal shape, just as his face also returned to its usual color. A skin tone, white tan. Befitting someone who grew up on the coast, "Aside, we already met a dangerous guy and a couple of weirdos. Right now, numbers can be our strength."
Rebeca grabbed Brian's arm and, laying her head on his shoulder, said, "Or our problems, I like Nefy, and she's intelligent."
Rebeca's eyes fixed on Sofia's back when she said, "But we don't know about the others, apart. There are three names of the father, and there are three thieves of the fire."
In silence, they both walked behind Neferet and Sofia while Brian tightened his grip on his spear.
Seeing the group of five aspirants standing near the dirt road that was crossed by a thin line of completely black water, when the group noticed the girls, they stood up and looked at them with a smile as they walked out of the forest.
Brian turned his head to look down the road.
The path lost itself in a hill on the left side that went up, turning, losing itself between large rocks with strange runes.
While to the right, the path entered another part of the forest. A faint scent of blood reached Brian as he arched onto the path, his eyes riveted on the tiny river.
Brian could smell a faint scent of blood combined with something he couldn't make out.
Armin's eyes gleamed as Neferet and Sofia came out of the forest, getting up quickly and opening his arms, saying, "They are alive!"
Behind Armin's back, there were two hunters standing looking at them, one carrying a rifle similar to Rebeca's while the other held a blunderbuss tightly, looking at them with half-open eyes.
He took a step back while the sorceress who had accompanied the lead was kneeling on the ground giving off a whitish glow as she spoke very rapidly in whispers.
Neferet and Sofia stopped on their side of the road. Sofia looked at the group quickly and covered her mouth with her hands, and she let out a gasp pointing at the group. Neferet took a step back.
As Brian moved them behind him, pulling Sofia with his hand and pushing Neferet with the spear, he said, raising his voice, "The damn rat got here first."
Brian's eyes had fixed on the sorceress who was on the ground with her hands resting on the archer, who was looking at Brian defiantly and with hatred.
Armin sees the expression of the girls and how Brian stood in front of them.
He stared at Brian and, raising his shield, he faced him, inflating his chest again, making his light red eyes shine, his eyes fixed on Brian's burgundy eyes that shone permanently, and hitting the floor with his spear, he said, "Are you coming too!?"
