Savon watched Jonas walk away from the corner of his eye. Jonas had barely slept the whole time that they were gone. He'd watched Savon like a hawk.
Savon never let his guard down. He'd found a person that he hated more than Neil. Compared to Jonas, Neil was a simple pest. What had shocked Savon most was that Neil had actually told Jonas off.
He'd made them all feel on edge. None of them trusted Jonas to not do anything. One reason that they took him along was so they could keep an eye on him. They didn't put it past him to try something while their main group was gone. That and he'd also jumped at the chance to come. He wouldn't be left behind it seemed.
'He'd sink a blade into us as fast as he could given the chance.'
'Let's kill him.'
'Appealing.' His darker half just made an angered sound. Which came from him out loud. It knew that his human half wasn't going to let him. It didn't like that.
'You'll regret not letting me.' Came the mental voice.
'I know.' Savon said because he believed it. To just up and kill him for no good reason would not be in his best interests. However they were back and Savon pushed that issue aside.
Right now he wanted to find Kayla. Who he knew was probably extremely pissed off at being left behind. He felt humor at this. Not the best reaction to have and one that he'd keep to himself when he found her. Savon glanced in the direction that he knew Kiore was just checking he was out of view.
Kiore had followed them to the city this time. Though he hadn't stayed, just wanted to see where it was that he was going to. Just in case. Then he'd gone back. Right now the company he wanted was human and female.
Savon followed her scent. Just walking slowly because he knew that with her anger she would test his willpower in being told off. From her it wasn't so bad. He could deal with more because hers wasn't a challenge in the same way that others were.
'Our female should do as told.'
'Our female won't let us near her if we act your way.' Savon said to himself, fucking voice. It was very strong and demanding when it came to Kayla.
Most the time they were in harmony in regards to her. Except when dealing with her negative emotions. Emotions were not something that an acolyte knew how to deal with. They didn't exist to it normally.
'Fine deal with it.'
'You should take a lesson.' The voice went quiet choosing to not take him up on the offer. Then again he was just preaching to the choir. He heard a slight whoosh sound and then a solid thunk. Great she had a weapon in her hands.
'Could be fun.' This time it was Savon's human part that didn't respond to that statement. He came around the corner of the house. She released the bow and the arrow hit the target dead center, she glanced at him. Her eyes far more grey than blue at the moment. Definitely angry.
"I don't feel like talking to you at the moment." Kayla said picking up another arrow and notching it.
"I don't see why you are so upset." She let go of the arrow letting it sail free. Then lowered the bow looking at him.
"I like to know what is going on. Not sitting around waiting. You took Jonas, that asshole is trigger happy. Not to mention I'm sure he'd gladly shove a blade in your chest."
"Better to have him some place that he can be watched." Savon thought for a moment on how to deal with her colder air.
"You going to leave me here when it comes time to do the deed?" She asked, anger in her tone. "I'm not a child."
"Never said you were." Truth be told he didn't really want her to go. Savon knew that his attention would be divided and that had never happened to him before. He would worry, he didn't worry. He didn't like it.
While he would try to keep everyone alive, it didn't eat at him that others hadn't come back. If she didn't come back it would be a very different story.
Not to mention the fact that they had been in close quarters a lot lately. He knew himself to well, he would be on edge with her being the only woman there.
"You left me on purpose. You never said one thing." Her gaze dared him to tell her otherwise.
"Maybe." Kayla clenched her jaw and looked at him. She had a ridged stance. Her gaze followed him as he moved forward. Her gaze started to narrow as he got closer.
"You piss me off." Kayla stated and shoved the top of the bow out toward him. It hit him square in the chest.
"I would like to be left alone. I don't want your presence at the moment." Savon took hold of the bow moving it aside. He kept a hold on it because she hadn't let go of it yet and had a feeling she just might jab him with it.
"I want yours." He told her but she didn't relent at all.
"To bad. You chose three days without me. I'm choosing now without you." Kayla said haughtily. He found that her denying him, pushing him away, just made him want her all the more. It really was counterproductive on her part.
"You can't make me go away."
"Maybe not, but I can go where you aren't." Kayla felt like hitting him. He was calm and looked unconcerned with her anger. She let go of the bow and turned around, taking purposeful steps to leave. Savon moved coming around her and cutting her off.
"Didn't think you were one to run away."
"Didn't think you were deaf." She snapped crossing her arms.
"I'm not. I have selective hearing." She was caught off guard by the comment she felt a bit of laughter but absolutely refused to let it out. She was pissed damn it. She was not going to let him disarm her that easily.
"Not funny." He met her gaze and she saw the humor there. It really made her anger come back.
"I'm serious here. You don't get to just decide to push me aside or control what I do because you want to."
"I don't push you aside. You aren't one to be controlled." Savon replied.
"You still did it in a roundabout way." She reiterated.
"You didn't ask."
"You would have told me? Clearly you didn't want too. The others never said anything. I hate men." She said turning and walking the other way. He moved around her again cutting her off and she clenched her fists at her side.
"I said I want to be alone." Her tone was flat.
"No." He said bluntly. She saw that darker look to his eyes. Obviously her denial of him pushing him the wrong way.
"Going to make me?" She dared. He stepped right up to her.
"Thinking about it." The scent of him was strong. A spice mixed something like sandalwood. It was appealing to her, but she blocked it out. She didn't want to give.
"Think all you want. I'm not a toy."
"I hardly think of you as a toy." Savon said his tone calm but that wasn't what his eyes said.
'I do.'
'Shut up. Not helping.'
'Well not exactly a toy.' The voice corrected.
"Good. You can't always get what you want."
"Neither can you." Savon shot back.
"Difference is choice. You purposely took mine away."
"Yes I did." She was shocked silent for a moment because she hadn't expected him to admit it. She'd figured that he would just give her a roundabout answer.
"I'd do it again if I think it important." Savon didn't see a point pretending or sugar coating it.
"You..." She took a breath for a moment. "I don't want to be sheltered I can handle myself."
"I hardly sheltered you, and what I did was for multiple reasons." She pushed at him because he wasn't going to move out of her way. She wanted to shout at him, but couldn't form the words.
Savon took a step back with her shove. He grabbed her wrists bringing her against him holding her part of her forearms as well. It reduced her ability to lash out.
"Let go."
"No." She just met his gaze staring at him.
"Now."
"No." His grip was firm. It didn't hurt but she wasn't getting out of it.
"I'm done talking with you."
"Then you can listen." Savon said. He leaned his head down brushing his mouth against hers and across her cheek. She fought her response to him. So quick and fast even with her anger.
