"Hey! Let's get chilled!" Sara says to Humayun, having two glasses of shake in her hands and passing one of them to him, standing at his shop at 5:50.p.m. Knelt into the bonnet ,immersed in confusion regarding the engine of the car,he looks up at the chilled disposable glass and becomes amazed to see that it is held up by Sara. He asks while standing up straight with the eager to know,
"Didn't you go to the academy today? It's monday!"
Taking refreshing sips of chilled mango shake and trying to ignore the importance of his question, she replies,
"No! Come on, refresh yourself! I didn't know about your favorite flavor hence bought min's favorite!"
"Mangoes are my favorite too! Thanks For this but your untimely arrival amazed me a bit.I am not sure if any government holiday has been announced overnight!"
He says while cleaning his hands with a handkerchief and holding up the glass. She still gives no reaction to his explanation and keeps sipping the supersweet shake while looking down at her image formed in the side mirror of the car. After staring at her at her face for a few seconds, he says softly,
"Your eyes seem weary. Are you okay?"
She promptly commences rubbing her eyes and replies immediately,
"Yes, I am!"
He keeps looking at her suspiciously, expecting further reply to his earlier questions. After a few seconds have passed, she adds
"I went to the academy but only to resign from the job!"
"What?" He exclamates involuntarily with the mixed expressions of astonishment and agonized.
"But why? You are one of the most talented girls and they were proud to have you as a teacher in their academy!"
With a deep sigh and blank expressions, she replies
"No doubt they were! But I am not a talented girl and don't deserve what I was given!"
Finished his shake, he throws the glass in the dustbin and asks,
"Sara! Is everything okay?"
She ignores his question once again and changes her facial expressions into faking a smile and says,
"What are you doing? Why do you always keep busy with your work? Don't you feel like you need some refreshment from your work?"
He replies in his usual calm way,
"No, I love my job and I work harder today to have a peaceful tomorrow!"
Her smile fades away with the flow of his words and becomes filled with water. She turns back, suppressing her fully expressed anger and shivering body, and runs away hurriedly, throwing her half-filled milk-shake glass away.
