Carlo Kennedy moved some distance away from his son and answered the call with one click. Vanessa spoke hastily unto the line. He could tell from the tone of her voice that all was not well.
"Hello, Carlo," She said, then paused as if to catch her breath. "Have you seen the news lately?"
Carlo Kennedy stopped in his tracks. What the hell was she talking about? Just then, he heard the door of a car open behind him. He turned around to find his son, Liam exiting the scene into the main house.
And just then, it occurred to him how much of a fraud he was and he wondered just how he'd been able to deceive whoever he'd been seeing that he was Carlo Kennedy. He did not even walk or talk like that.
He was lost in thoughts until Vanessa called him out of his reverie.
"Carlo!"
