Travis was having an uneasy feeling about opening the book. And yet, he knew that he wasn't supposed to feel anything, and that his feelings did not count. Vanessa was not one to say no to.
He steadies himself against the table and felt an electrifying rush of adrenaline go through him as he tried to grasp the fact that he was actually standing before The Book of Truth and was about to open it with his own hands. Unbelievable!
Vanessa was still waiting by him, arms folded across her chest, waiting for him to make the move. He looked uncertain when he stretched his hand to the book and rubbed the edges gently. He slid his finger into one of the spaces to turn over the pages. And that was when he felt it.
It was solid, immovable, like it was glued shut together. There was no way of opening it, at least not with his bare hands. He turned around to look at Vanessa with a look on his face that said, 'I told you so.'
