Detective Cooper and Dr. Griffin were getting more puzzled by the second. They watched Detective Miller keenly, each wondering what the hell he had just listened to that had shaken him so greatly.
Just then, Detective Miller's walkie-talkie buzzed again. He looked at the secure line and immediately guessed who it was. The captain. All the blood on his face drained.
Detective Miller answered the call by pressing a button. Then, he waited and listened to what the person on the other line was saying. The frown on his face deepened as he listened to what Captain Walter was saying, bile rising in his throat.
"I__I cannot possibly understand why the patrol guard watched the man being mutilated and murdered without doing anything, Captain," He was saying on the walkie-talkie. "He sounded somewhat hysterical while we were talking on the phone some moments ago."
