As soon as Isabella stepped out of the taxi that brought her back home to her apartment at Lexington Avenue, she walked right into it, spent less than a minute unlocking the door, then she slammed the door behind her as she entered.
She felt her head going in circles. The more she tried to understand the way she felt, the more messed up her heart got. It was like she had committed some grave offense that the universe was bent on hunting her conscience for.
A sharp pang went through her heart as she spotted a badge and a walkie-talkie on the table. Her sister, Detective Rachel Cooper was home. Isabella grimaced. This was not the time to make any noise around the house that would announce that she was home.
All she wanted to do right now was to get to bed and sleep away all the terrible thoughts in her mind.
