My head is pounding. A war? Being an Alpha? Chase siding with Ginger? Ginger being the Queen of Vampires? This isn't what I wanted. I just wanted to live a normal life. Why does everything have to happen to me? 'Maybe this is all a dream,' I wish. 'You know that if this was a dream, it would be a nightmare that you'll never wake from. It will come true.' That pesky voice again. He's been quiet for days and now he decides to pop in? 'I don't get how my nightmares can be real. I know Teotwawki said that female Lycanthropes can have prediction dreams, but that doesn't mean all of them come true!' At my thought, I could feel the voice getting annoyed with me. 'Don't be coy, Adelina! Why are you still so hopeful that you couldn't have these abilities??' I look down as the voice continues his rant. 'Just accept the fact that your life will never be normal, it never was and it never will be.'
"Liner?" At the sound of Lucas' voice, I snapped back to reality and looked at him. "Are you okay?" I didn't know how to tell him about this voice in my head. He'll think I'm nuts. "Yeah, I'm okay. Just stressed out I guess." He quirked his eyebrow and put down his drink. "I've been meaning to ask for the last couple of days now. But is it normal for me to hear your thoughts?" Man, I knew it would come to this. Ever since I turned Lucas, he's been full of questions as well as gaining the three P's, as I like to call them: passionate, protective, and possessive. I know, I know, I need to change the three P's part but it makes sense.
"Yeah, I guess it's an ability all Naos have. I could hear Ginger's thoughts even before we found out she's a Vampire." Lucas looked down and I could see he was still upset about Chase, I don't blame him. They've been best friends all their lives. I've only known these two since middle school. "Lucas..?" I carefully put a hand on his shoulder. His pale blue and violet eyes looked at me with so much sadness. 'This is hurting me too..' The voice said sadly. "I know you're still upset about Chase. But there's nothing we can do now. He sided with Ginger. I'm so sorry baby..." I carefully wrapped my arms around Lucas, I mean what else can I do? Chase and I both hid our real selves from Lucas while Lucas trusted us unconditionally. I felt Lucas' arms wrap around me and hug me back tightly. Suddenly, I felt something wet on my shoulder. "Lucas.. Please don't cry." I hugged him tighter and kissed his head. There's no way I can make him smile right now.
I'm not sure how long we sat there in the park. Minutes? Hours? Lucas' phone rang. He slowly took it out of his pocket and we both looked at the caller ID. "I have to go home.." Lucas' voice was so quiet it was just barely a whisper. "Wanna walk there..?" I gently cupped his face and looked him in the eyes. "I know this is a lot on you. But, I want to help you. You've always helped me.." He looked at me through tears and kissed me passionately before pulling away. "No.. I think right now I just need to think through this on my own.." God, Lucas' voice is so heartbreaking. He stood up and walked away from me, towards his street. I watched him walk away and every fear I had before came flooding back. Does he hate me for keeping this from him? Is he mad that I turned him? Does he still want to be with me? I hate these questions because I dread the answer..
"Psst," I looked around, alert. 'Who the hell was that?' The voice just asked the same question I was thinking. "Psst...!" I stood up and kept looking around. Who was calling me? "Over here..!" I looked to my side and see a person crouching next to the bushes. I back away a bit and ball up my fists. "Show yourself!" The person stepped out of the bushes and put his hands up. "Easy, I'm unarmed. I'm not here to hurt you." Wait, this guy looks familiar. "Hey.. I know you." I unclenched my fists and walked over to him. "You're in my band class right? You're a drummer." He smiled at me and put his hands down. "I am. I came here to tell you about a way you can get help for your fight against Ginger." I looked at him in shock. "How do you know about that?" His smile turned into a smirk as his eyes turned all black. 'A demon..' I don't know why but it sounded like the voice was afraid. The guy's smirk faded away and he looked at me with a serious look.
"Listen, us Demons have had a vendetta against Angels for God knows how long. I know you're class is relatively new, but you and Ginger have been enemies since the fourth grade, haven't you?" I'm shocked by how much this guy knows about me. I've never really talked to him, must be a Demon thing to see into the past, I guess? "That's right. What are you getting at?" I crossed my arms and looked at him sternly.
"Well, I know a way to get you more fighters on your side. If you're interested, come to the rusted warehouse down by the bay." I looked at him beyond confused. "Why that warehouse?" His eyes turned back to their normal hazel color. "Demons are know to be powerful warriors and somewhat truthful deal makers. However, our King can only make truthful deals, however deals made with him are very, very rare. No loopholes, no tricks, so if you can manage to make a deal with him, you'll have more fighters by your side." I don't trust what this guy is saying, but I guess I don't have a choice. As strong as Lycanthropes are, Ginger's army of Vampires and Angels will wipe out my pack in a matter of minutes.
I sigh and uncross my arms, "What time should I be at the warehouse?" He looked satisfied with my response before answering. "Be there before three in the morning. After 3, every Demon will go on a hunt for a soul to make a deal with. If you get there before and successfully make the deal with my King, then all will be well. Just don't mess it up, squirt." The guy ruffled my hair a bit before vanishing completely. 'Did he really pet you like a dog??' Now the voice was irritated. I just shrugged it off and decided to walk back to my house.
'How am I supposed to make a deal with a demon king? What do I even say?' All of these questions and possibilities raced through my head. Suddenly, I had turned on a light bulb in my head. 'If I can make a deal with the King about getting ALL of the demons to fight with me, including himself, then they'll all be bound to me by an honest deal!' I smiled and I felt the voice silently approve. 'Now, all we have to do is set it up so he can't refuse it.' I agreed to his words and pulled out my phone. I set an alarm for one in the morning. Time to make deals with Demons.
