Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 - Foreseeable Future

After talking with Chase until the next morning, we all came up with a plan to handle Ginger's army of Fallen. Now, we just have to tell Teotwawki and Kiel. Lucas and I climbed out my bedroom window after my parents left for work, believing that I was still sick. Chase climbed out after us before running off, since it was better for him to not be seen "conspiring with the enemy." Lucas and I walked into the woods, knowing every inch of our plan and engraving it into our memories. As we walked, I couldn't shake the feeling that we were being watched. I looked around to see if I could find out why I felt like this.

"Adelina? What are you looking for?" Lucas asked from my side. I looked at him, "Do you get the feeling that we're being watched?" At my question, Lucas looked around before looking back at me. "I don't feel that." I sighed a bit and shook my head, "Never mind."

We kept walking before we heard the sounds of animals running towards us. I faced the sound and waited, Lucas stood next to me and crossed his arms over his chest. Over a dozen wolves ran towards us, just by their scent and coat colors I knew who they were: our pack was here. A slightly smaller wolf shifted back to his human form - I knew this was Teotwawki. "Alpha, what are you doing out here? The Fallen are everywhere and the Vampire Queen could be planning on killing you when she gets the chance." Teotwawki said, his voice full of worry. "Teotwawki, I'm okay. You don't have to call me Alpha either, okay? Anyways, Lucas and I need to tell you guys something." I looked around us, "Where's Kiel?"

At the mention of Kiel's name, I felt something shift in Teotwawki. "K-kiel? Does he need to be here?" Teotwawki stuttered. Lucas and I gave each other knowing looks, smirking secretly, before Lucas responded to him, "Yeah, you both need to hear this. It's important." Without warning, Kiel appeared in front of us. "Ello, puppies." Kiel said in his normal charming way. Teotwawki's face turned a light shade of pink red before stepping away from Kiel. Kiel noticed this and his smug expression had a flash of hurt. "Kiel, you and Teotwawki need to know about our plan." Lucas stated.

Both of them looked at us confused. "What plan?" Teotwawki asked. I stepped forward and looked them in the eyes. "We're not going to lie to you. We've been talking with Chase and we came up with a plan to stop Ginger. Chase told us that Ginger is purposefully turning Naos into Fallen to use as an army against us." I tried not to let my voice shake from guilt and unease, I don't know how well I covered it. I still felt sick to my stomach just imagining the kind of pain Ginger must be doing to those poor souls. But my imagination may be better than what she's actually doing to them; however, I'm not about to find out which is better.

Teotwawki's eyes grew wide and his skin paled from what I can assume is fear while Kiel's eyes looked like they had flames of rage. Kiel gritted his teeth, "That bloody pasty, egg shell colored leech! She's killing Naos to save her own skin?! No wonder there are a lot more Fallen around this bloody town!" I could feel Kiel's rage and I knew Lucas could too. We were both getting angrier by the second, wanting to just go find Ginger and end the war before it even started. Teotwawki put a hand on Kiel's shoulder, "Calm down, please. I know this is horrifying and she's doing the work not even the Devil would do, but we need to keep our heads." At Teotwawki's words, Kiel calmed down and looked at him. "Sorry, I didn't mean to get so worked up," Kiel smiled a little at Teotwawki. 'If they kiss, I'm gonna throw up,' the voice in my head said. I immediately scolded it, 'Hey! Leave them alone!' The voice responded back, 'I'm just saying it would be gross. I feel sick when you and Lucas kiss too. Seeing people in love is just so unappealing.' With that, I understood the voice's personality a little better now.

"Anyways, guys, we have a plan." Lucas chimed in, to which everyone looked at him. "Chase, Adelina, and I came up with a plan. Chase's powers killed the last Fallen we encountered." With Lucas' words, I was brought back to how Chase had to incinerate his own sister just to set her free from being a Fallen. "We thought that, if we could find a way to get more Angels that aren't involved with Ginger on our side, then we could take out the Fallen and make Ginger lose the one weapon she has against us." Kiel crossed his arms. "As great as that sounds, it would involve us dragging in more Naos that could lose their lives." Kiel made a point and basically shut down our plan. "You're right, but it's the only solution we have to dealing with Fallen. As far as we know, Fallen can't be saved." This is where Teotwawki stepped up.

"Actually, there is a way." Kiel turned to Teotwawki, "How do we save them then, puppy." Teotwawki blushed again as Kiel called him that, Lucas and I smirked at each other once again. We knew what was happening between them, but both weren't going to admit it. Teotwawki quickly looked away from Kiel and looked at Lucas and I. "I've been in these woods for years with the pack. About 5 years ago, we found a cave in the mountain side. Inside was a structure that looked like ruins. They had carved images and cave walls lined with crystals. The images were depicting Angels, Demons, Vampires, and even Lycanthrope. Maybe that ruin has something we can use."

I looked at Teotwawki surprised before asking, "Wait, ruins that have Lycanthrope carvings? But there hasn't been any Lycanthrope before us." Kiel shook his head and chuckled shortly, "You're wrong there, pup." Lucas and I looked at each other with confused looks before looking at Kiel. He continued, "Just because Lycanthrope are called a 'new class' by mortals doesn't mean they weren't always around. Don't forget, I've been on this Earth longer than the three of you. Lycanthrope are a big part of Nao history that no one teaches or remembers." Lucas chimed in, "What do you mean? What history?"

Kiel chuckled again, "You sweet little pups are in for one helluva surprise. The first Nao to exist was a Demon. The God of Hell Lucifer, decided that his creation would need a loyal ally in taking over the world. So, Lucifer took his beloved Cerberus' soul and created the Lycanthrope Naos. Lycanthrope and Demons were the first Naos, until the God of Heaven created Angels and Vampires to balance the world out. For centuries, Heaven and Hell had a constant battle until, one day over 3,000 years ago, Lycanthropes banded together and decided to try to end the fighting. Many of them were killed by Vampires, but the ones that survived helped Demons, Angels, Vampires, and mortals understand and learn how to live with each other. Lycanthropes were then deemed Na Kahu Maluhia - Peace Keepers. We lived peacefully until the mortals decided that Naos were sins to any family that bore a Nao of any class. With this, many Naos went into hiding, Nao children were forced to hide who they were, and Lycanthropes vanished without a trace. No one knew where they went. Not one Lycanthrope was seen for thousands of years until that Lycanthrope bit you, Adelina." With that, Lucas, Kiel, and Teotwawki looked at me. Their gazes felt like a secret had been exposed because of me. I backed up, suddenly feeling threatened, "Woah woah, hey. That's not my fault. It's not like I wanted to be bitten."

Lucas stepped closer to me, "No one's blaming you, babe. What happened wasn't your fault."

"He's right," a voice said from somewhere around us. The four of us looked around, trying to find who was listening in on us. "Who's there?" Teotwawki called out. Lucas pulled me closer to him while Kiel walked towards a tree. "I know you're there-" Kiel said before motioning for someone to walk out.

A dark-skinned boy, who looked to be in his early 20's stepped into view and looked at us. Kiel smiled, "-Damien." The new guy bowed to Kiel, "My king." I surely couldn't be the only one confused. "Damien? That's not Damien. He died, remember?" Lucas asked Kiel, to which Kiel looked at him with a blank expressions. He walked over to us with the new Demon and said, "Like I said before, it takes a helluva lot more than a stabbing to kill a Demon. Demons aren't like other Naos. We aren't bound to a body, we can transfer our souls from one body to another, possessing them until we no longer need them or can no longer use them."

The new Demon nodded, "That's true. Before my vessel died, I left the body and went in search for a new one. It's really me 'puppies'." The Demon smirked. I looked at him and recognized that smirk almost instantly, "It really is you, Damien!" I smiled and quickly hugged him, to which Damien hugged me back. Lucas stepped closer, "We're so glad to see you back." I felt Lucas' emotions shift to one of happiness and relief. Damien laughed a bit and looked at us.

"As much as I would love to catch up over the 2 days I missed, I heard you guys talking about a ruin." Damien smirked, "Let's get ready to go find it."
