When Theo and Kai walked down together a few minutes later, their eyes widened simultaneously as they saw the scene in front of them.
"Okay...?" Kai spoke out to nobody in particular and slowly walked forward, stumbling back when he saw Eva walking around in the kitchen as if it belonged to her.
Theo followed him a second later, his lips parting as he took in the sight of her dancing around, her focus fixed on the task she was currently doing.
[Cracking an egg?]
[…]
"She's gonna give you a run for your money." Kai chuckled, slapping him on the back and walking off toward the table, whistling.
Theo meanwhile leaned against the wall and bit his lip as he watched her flip the pan and whoop as a perfectly shaped 'cooked' egg sat there on the plate.
He smirked, cautiously stepping up behind her and placing her hands on both sides of the counter, trapping her in between his arms.
He breathed out when he saw her turn stiff as she noticed his presence around her and without turning around, Eva stammered out, "Go and sit down on the table."
His hot breath ghosted past her ear and she shivered at his brief caress. Eva breathed out and managed risk a small peek. Theo glanced down at her, obsidian eyes alive, and it was there in the air between them.
Electricity.
Thirst.
Unquenchable Hunger.
Eva could almost taste it, pulsing between them, drawing them together.
Her eyes wasted no time in getting hazy as his eyes became clouded and intense seeing how she bit her lip. Theo raised his thumb to let her lip loose and Eva gasped out at his touch.
Desire pooled dark and deadly in her groin. Theo clasped her hand and grazed her knuckles with his thumb, as all her muscles clenched tightly, deliciously, deep inside her.
Eva had never felt so similar to Icarus ever in her life. It was plainly clear that his flames weren't a match for her but when had she been the one to remain cautious?
The glass walls gave her a breathtaking view of the outside world as she felt his lips graze past her neck and it took all her strength and energy to not lean back. To not feel him. To not let go.
The weather was almost perfect today, the sun low on the horizon — large, blazing fiery orange—
And she was Icarus again, flying far too close for her own good.
"I'm starving people!" Kai's exclamation awoke her from the brief reverie that he had captured her in.
"I have to go," she spoke, still not turning around.
She waited for a reply but suddenly, he grabbed her hand, spinning her around as her startled eyes met his— Holy fuck...
His eyes were luminous with desire, firing the already heated blood that was pounding through her flushed body. Eva's mouth fell slack as she tried to drag precious air into her lungs.
"I have a proposition," he murmured, his voice caressing her in places she didn't even know existed.
"I wonder what it is," she whispered and saw his eyes darken to an inexplicable shade. He glanced down at her lips for a moment and Eva wondered if he remembered what had occurred back in that dark chamber.
The memory made her toes curl as she struggled to keep her hands fixed on the countertop. Lord why did he have to be so...
Irresistible?
Intimidating?
Tempting?
Eva realized that she would never actually know.
"Why don't you come to the rooftop after you get free?" he glanced toward the wall which was hiding the view of the table. Eva bit her lip again as she wondered what they would do if Kai stumbled inside and saw them in this... position.
She gasped out softly when his lips met the corner of her mouth and he opened his eyes to stare into hers. Eva's body shook in his arms and she shivered with the heat that was taking over her from his touches.
God, she wanted more...
So much more.
And she didn't know if she was capable of entering the danger zone.
"Then I hope to see you in a few hours," he mumbled against the side of her face and her ear tingled as his lips grazed past it.
Theo backed off, his lips lifting up into a boyish smile that had her heart lodging in her throat as she watched him walk out the side with his hands sliding into his pockets. As soon as he was out of her sight, Eva let herself collapse back against the hard counter.
If Isabella didn't kill her in the end, he sure would.
She closed her eyes, remembering all the times he had touched her and Eva almost felt guilty for the future he had already planned.
He had no place in it.
What would he do if he knew?
She looked down, tapping her fingers absent-mindedly on the slab. Her thoughts fell waywardly down her mind tunnel, making her fall back into the chaos that consisted of him and his eyes.
His smirk.
His touch.
"I never thought that I'll be missing Fiona and Daphne any time soon," Kai muttered and grabbed the dishes of food off the counter.
The minute he saw what was on the plate, the grumpy look on his face evaporated into oblivion as he hurriedly wrapped his arms around Eva and then offered her a wide smile.
"Don't don't you dare snitch to you-know-who," he spoke as a parting comment, and Eva giggled out, her face breaking into a face-splitting grin at the thought of meeting him in a few hours.
'He had to tell me... now how am I supposed to concentrate!?'
'But are you ready for what he might suggest?' that small inquisitive voice whispered and Eva nibbled on her bottom lip, running her finger unconsciously over the spot that he had brushed his thumb over just a few minutes ago.
Exhaling, she pouted and squared her shoulders, trying her best to focus on getting through the day instead of on him.
'Easier said than done...'
