Her feet touched the surface of the roof and she glimpsed his wings disappearing from his back. Eva pouted. Too bad, she would've loved to touch them and see his intoxicated expression once again.
'Scratch that, I never said those words.'
Shaking her head free of her foolish thoughts, she walked toward the punching bag that dangled from the sky.
"I did that for when you got bored," he spoke, wrapping white bandages around his tattooed hand while he strolled off toward her. Eva restrained the drool that almost escaped her lips. "Right now, I'm going to be your punching bag."
She raised a brow, an amused smirk coming over her face. "You do remember what happened to Kai the last time don't you?"
He copied her expression, "You're comparing me to Kai now?"
"You three look the same."
"We might look the same." he now stood before her, no— loomed over her with his height. "But under all this." he motioned to his clothes and his eyes darkened. "We're different."
Eva tried her best not to be fazed by his look and to not imagine what he looked like under there. The temperature was supposed to be cold but she felt anything but cool.
"And our powers and abilities differ just like the Sun and the Moon do," he added and Eva tried to detect a glimmer or a flash of ego in his face.
There was none.
"Since Kai is a little... occupied this minute, I'll be teaching you a few tricks for when you're stuck in a tight spot."
That was the worst idea he could've ever come up with! Eva internally panicked, knowing that her focus went out the window when he was in proximity. Considering how close he would be while teaching her, she could imagine the dazed expression that would fix itself on her face.
'I'm doomed...'
"Ready?" he questioned, a smirk dancing around his lips and Eva pursed her lips, passing him a curt nod.
Serious. She needed to be concentrated.
"Good. Now suppose that an enemy crept up from behind you." he spun her around and now she was facing his front. Eva didn't like it one bit. "What're you going to do?" his warm breath caressed her ear and she resisted the urge to shiver and lean back.
"Kick him from behind?"
"Try."
Eva got ready to boot him as hard as she could but her senses abandoned her when she saw his tattooed arm wrap around her waist. He pulled her in, his chest meeting her back and Eva let out a small gasp at this new feeling.
She couldn't describe this sensation but all she wanted at this moment was to feel his touch everywhere. Parts of her came alive and she fought the desire to wriggle in his grip.
"By now, he would've brought out an anesthetic cloth and you wouldn't be awake any longer." his lips grazed past her earlobe and she felt like her voice was stolen from her.
Not thinking, she raised her knee forward and brought it back hard. It didn't hit anything but the next second, he was spinning her around again. She was now facing him, his hands holdings hers behind her back. His grip wouldn't leave marks but she couldn't wiggle her hands out of it.
"Now what?" his pupils were dilated, and he looked as if he was intoxicated just staring at her.
For the first time, Eva felt immense power tingle inside her. Encouraged, she raised her knee to hit him right in the middle but he loosed his grip on her hands, stepping back and her hit met with air.
His drunken orbs provoked her to continue trying. Swinging her leg like how Kai had instructed her, she aimed at his hip with all her force. Instead of dodging it like before, Theo grabbed her leg and Eva stumbled losing her balance.
Her mind clicked in and instead of falling backward, she mustered all her force to push him back to the ground. He didn't look like he had expected that move and as she closed her eyes, she regretted the motion instantly. Wouldn't his head get hurt due to the fall?
She closed her eyes, and suddenly felt his arms wrap around her. Her chest met with something solid and warm and then her back hit the ground. Her head fell back on something she recognized as a hand and then reality kicked in.
Her lashes fluttered open and the sight above her made her eyes widen. His eyes bore into her brown ones, his nose grazing hers and their lips only a few centimeters away. Eva's mouth automatically parted and she saw his gaze flick down to it before it resumed its original position.
His tattooed hand rested on the ground beside her head and she felt heat rise up her whole body at the look he was giving her.
"Now what?" this time, she asked him first and saw his eyes flash violet for a second.
"You're going to lie under your enemy like this?" his voice felt deeper than ever and he looked as if he was getting tortured in the worst ways possible. Eva glanced anywhere but below, not wanting to know what was going down there. It was safer this way...
"Maybe," she answered, and taking advantage of his surprise, she grabbed his shoulders and switched their positions.
She was now straddling him, his eyes wide gazing up at her and she rested her hands on his chest, not having anywhere else to place them.
"Checkmate."
