The look on his face told how startled he was by her move. Eva waited since it seemed as if his mind was still processing the fact that he had lost to a girl half his size. Though she was certain that if somebody else was in her place, they would've been burned to silver ashes by now.
"Did you just—"
Eva giggled softly, knowing that she should move and increase the distance between their bodies before something happened. Seconds flowed by and she didn't.
He narrowed his brows, staring at her as if he was trying to figure her out. Eva breathed out lightly, suddenly more aware of the fact that she was straddling his legs and could feel his warmth seep in through her clothes. Theo's orbs darkened further when he noticed how silent she had gone and the way her skin had flushed like a blooming rose. His fingers itched to touch her, some part of her, any part that she would allow. Just something.
Eva gasped softly when she felt something hard poking against her inner thigh. She hesitantly glanced down and then back up to his eyes with hers widened in comparison. He looked drugged, with his inky pupils dilated once again and his lips parted just like hers simultaneously.
"Eva!"
Gwen's voice sounded far away but it was a wake-up call to both of them. Before she could get up, Theo instantly straightened up and Eva gasped aloud this time. He only groaned, closing his eyes and looking anywhere but at her. Eva felt the sudden urge to roll her hips to ease the frustrated air that had settled around them. Even the smallest of movements were triggering her senses and she was sure that her skin was flushed from top to bottom.
The door burst open and Eva fell back, scrambling to get to her feet as fast as she could. There, right at the doorstep, stood a shell-shocked Gwen with her hand making its way slowly up to her mouth.
Eva could only shake her head rapidly, telling her through small gestures that it wasn't what she was guessing it was. Gwen however ignored her signals completely and tilted her head to the side to stare at the man behind her.
Was that.... a wink that she passed him?! This girl...
"I'm so very sorry—"
"You don't have to be," Eva exclaimed, her tone a little higher than normal. Swallowing, she continued, "You were looking for me?"
Gwen looked a little dazed at this point. "Yeah... we were supposed to train remember? And talk about whatever crap you heard from Moros's mouth. The others are waiting downstairs since Kai arrived a few minutes ago."
Eva passed her a small nod and cautiously turned around to look at his face and anywhere but below his neck. "You coming?"
His tongue peeked out and grazed his lips before he said, "I'll be with you all in a minute... or two."
Eva opened her mouth to ask why not knowing why she was being nosy herself when Gwen twisted their arms together and smiled assuringly toward Theo before dragging her away from the roof.
"What's wrong—"
"Uh, darling? Theo has to take care of certain... matters of his before he joins us downstairs. It's nothing to worry about so don't fret about it, okay?"
Eva smiled but it faded away when they neared the sitting room. A yawn made its way up to the surface but she stifled it down when Gwen kicked the door open and Kai, Sebastian, and Davina entered her vision.
"Where were you? Gwendolyn here has been searching for almost half an hour." Eva only nodded to Kai's strange way of greeting her though she detected a small exchange of realization pass between him and Sebastian.
"Listen, you fae creatures, I'm tired as hell and need my sleep immediately before I blow a mountain up into bits. So out with it, what did Moros tell you considering you made it alive out of there." Davina spoke in a calm tone but Eva noticed a violent storm brewing behind her cat-like eyes.
"Energy manipulation. Chaos is the main element." Theo's voice entered her ears and it felt as if a heavy weight had been lifted off her shoulders. She glanced toward him and glimpsed that he had changed his clothes.
Instead of his black jacket and shirt, he wore a white shirt that was rolled up to his elbows and provided a full view of his inked arm. The first few buttons were open and Eva felt like the oxygen in the room was depleting with each passing second.
Sebastian looked at her with surprise flashing in his usually impassive eyes. Kai whistled while Gwen exchanged an indescribable look with Theo. Davina only nodded understandingly, staring at her with something similar to compassion in her eyes.
"You all seem to know about it," Eva stated. 'And I'm the only one who doesn't...'
"We were raised in this building and trust me, the library here is massive," Kai commented and Eva furrowed her brows.
His jaw dropped. "Don't tell me that these idiots didn't tell you about the library— Forget it. I'll show you the main rooms myself. Half of them are bedrooms that once belonged to family members that are now in peace. I can't believe you didn't tell her about it." Kai directed this toward Gwen and she wondered why he wasn't reprimanding Theo.
It was obvious, he was too busy and occupied to spend time showing her around in detail and she understood it. But a question arose in her mind: He wasn't so busy back in Xandria was he? Or maybe he was but she almost hated him to notice his absence.
The past brought her nothing but bad memories so she shut that book, locking it away and letting the darkness consume that part of her.
