Chapter 122 - The Underworld (Part V)

The guards hesitantly glanced at each other and seemed to resign to their doomed fate. Together they rushed forward, leaving a grinning Asher behind with a challenge in his eyes directed toward Theo.

Eva couldn't help but worriedly stare at his broad back that he only flexed, and she wished she could see his expression. Was he scared? Worried if they would get out of here in one piece? She didn't have a clue and could only watch from the sidelines until she knew that her help was needed.

Conjuring another ball of flame, he cast it toward the group, dividing them into two groups. Some went flying past while a few started burning and writhing as they lay on the ground with their eyes begging him for mercy to end it. Death was better than the torture they knew they were going to receive.

Asher still looked calm as he motioned the remaining men to get along with it. The crowd parted once again and a massive figure of a man emerged from within its depths. Horns of flame issued from his head as he roared out and Eva covered her ears due to its incredibly loud volume.

Theo grinned, finally getting to have some fun. Rotating his wrists, he started running toward the towering creature while the opponent welcomed it and started sprinting forward too.

The darkness he had invoked hit the monster straight in the heart and the impact sent him flying backward. Eva's eyes twinkled and somehow his power called out to hers which was battling to be let out to the surface. His darkness made hers want to leap out and join him.

The beast leaped up again, growling at Theodore but he only smirked. Cocking a brow, the man recognized this as a sign that he was amused.

…?

After such a large amount of vampires and monsters just charged at him, he was just... entertained? The leader of the group gritted his teeth, directing the others forward with his hand.

"Attack together and at once. Now!"

Dashing toward him, the ground shook at the force of the attack. Eva expected him to start running, grab her and teleport out of there. But again, this was Theo. He was anything but a coward who ran away from fights.

So she watched in horror as they all jumped on top of him, one by one, and to complete the dome, the colossal figure of the guard leaped up on top of all of them.

Asher whistled, clapping his hands. Was this finally going to be that day? The very day when he would see King Theodore Blackwell crouching and begging for mercy. The day he would tear his throat apart with his teeth and conquer his empire and his little woman.

He eyed Eva up and down and grinned when she flipped him off. She seemed hesitant but the confidence hadn't wavered in her. Ah well, when she saw his dead body she would easily realize that the dominant side was his. And anyway, he could always make a deal with Alastor to hand the girl over to him. Isabella didn't have any room to refuse when he became High King.

"Theo..." she whispered, stepping forward and readying herself to release all her pent-up anger in the form of her powers. Her eyes flickered red for a second and Asher's eyes widened when he saw sparks of chaos erupt from her hands.

A grunt came from the heaving group and Asher backed off slowly, his throat bobbing as realization took over. The creature's face transformed from a victorious grin to a frown as he noticed his body starting to shake.

It can't be possible, Asher thought to himself but continued stepping backward. The weight on top of him was equal to a whole mountain. It would crush any Fae no matter who they were. There was no way Theodore was still alive after falling under such pressure.

Eva gasped aloud as the dome broke, dark swirls of magic erupting from the King's body. Asher's face was a sight to see. He looked stricken and as Theo raised his raging violet orbs to meet his, Asher's feet started trembling.

He whirled around to teleport but Theo's hand closed around his throat, pulling him toward him and then turning him around. Asher threw a punch toward his face but it was dodged with a graceful movement of his head.

Grabbing his throat, Theo raised his entire body off the rocky floor and Asher weakly punched his hand, begging with his eyes to let go. Instead, he received a small malignant smirk as his wings arose from his back and resembled a dragon's in their glory and size. His feet raised themselves off the ground as he flew up to a considerable height and Asher realized midway what he was going to do.

Theo only grinned as he dove toward the ground with all his strength and Asher's head met the rough surface with a force that sent rocks launching in all directions and a large one went toward where Eva and Moros were standing.

Eva raised her arms to stop the impact but the rock didn't manage to go anywhere near her. It seemed as if an invisible wall had thrown it back to where it arrived from, harming the girl in no way. She watched as Theo raised him and Asher off the ground once again, the ground forming a crater where they had landed.

Theodore repeated the process. Asher's eyes blinked open to see that they were once again above in the air as Theo plunged down and the force was enough to send his ears ringing.

Moros licked his dry lips, raising his brows and glancing sideways to see how horrified the girl was by all this.

Did she look... relieved?!
