Chapter 123 - The Underworld (Part VI)

Eva finally listened to her heart, ignoring the voices in her head that continued to whisper that she was growing feelings for somebody who was worse than a monster. People were right when they called him heartless, they whispered but Eva blocked them all out, her eyes fixed on the figure who was panting and staring down at nothing in particular.

She stopped when she was standing behind him, her eyes glancing toward the mighty vampire who lay deep down in the crater. Blood was visible on his clothes and Eva wondered if he would be able to survive.

But then again, fae vampires were immortal, especially the Kings.

He turned around, his eyes reflecting the wild, untamed rage that still burned in those violet orbs. Darkness hung around him as if he was its master and it obeyed nobody but Theodore.

"You don't have to see me like this, I'll call Sebastian to take you back-"

He flinched and then calmed down when he saw it was her hand that touched him on the arm.

"I once read somewhere, that if you can't handle somebody at their worst, you don't deserve them at their best," she spoke the first words that came to her mind, looking at him and he released a ragged breath that he seemed to have been holding.

She was a miracle. No, a gift, a treasure. A Queen whose smile was the only thing that soothed his demons down into a calm slumber.

"You're planning on leaving him here?" she questioned, glancing down at the body in the crater and missing the jealous glare Theo sent in Asher's direction.

"Perhaps."

"Well, that was one of the best entertainments I've received in all these decades. All thanks to you." Moros piped up and Eva flinched in shock. She'd forgotten for a minute that they were standing in the middle of the Underworld with one of the most powerful creatures caged so near them.

"You better hand over some information in return," Theo muttered under his breath but Eva and Moros both heard him faintly.

Moros rolled his eyes and then looked at Eva. "Quite dull isn't he? He was more fun when he was a child."

Eva narrowed her brows and walked closer to the cell knowing he was following her from behind. The dark swirls surrounding him caressed her arm and she gasped softly, the familiar feeling returning whenever he was around her.

Because whenever he was with her, parts of her came alive. Parts that had laid dormant and now that they were awakened, she was constantly frustrated. Her skin begged to be touched, desiring a release that nobody but the man beside her could give.

Her hands trembled and his hand barely grazed it making her straighten up as goosebumps rose from their brief slumber. Risking a glance, she retracted it at the speed of lightning after seeing the way his eyes darkened, mixed with intense emotions, desire, and unfulfilled need. Desperate hunger.

She cleared her throat, wrapping her arms around her with a hidden motive. Just so he couldn't touch her again and hence, distract her.

"What do you think I could be? Considering my mother was a fae witch and all that," she asked and noticed Moros furrow his brows at her question.

"After what I sensed from you, you reminded me of one of my previously close friends. He had angelic blood mixed in his body but it got corrupted and lead to him becoming more powerful."

Eva felt her soul leaving her body when she heard him talking about corrupted souls. "W—What kind of powers did he have?"

Moros scratched his chin, "He had healing abilities which he rarely used, mind you, he wasn't able to use it on himself though. Fire manipulation and control of the basic elements that make up our world."

This time it was Theo who spoke up, seeing how Eva was still working on absorbing the large amounts of information. "And what powers come under the list of elements?"

He raised his fingers and started counting one by one. "Water manipulation, lightning manipulation, earth manipulation, and ice manipulation. Along with a few more."

Eva gulped. "And I have powers similar to these?"

He tilted his head, assessing both their expressions with a scrutinized look.

"From what I felt, you are able to manipulate energy in any form you desire. Your main element consists of chaos and in my unwanted opinion, that can be misused if fallen into the wrong hands. It could cost the whole world dearly if your powers are used in an immoral way." he explained and his eyes flashed toward Theo as if he was wanting to make him understand that she wasn't just a little girl who was gifted with capabilities.

"And how am I supposed to hone in these abilities?" she asked further, clenching her fists and trying not to take in his scent too much.

"Only you can do that. Train and restrain them or they'll end up controlling you instead," he spoke with forewarning visible in his tone and body language.

Eva nodded toward him cautiously and then turned around to leave. Theo followed her, a hand coming to settle on her back and she felt it everywhere.

"I'll make sure to call you when I demand this favor," Moros yelled from behind and Eva scrunched her nose, looking up at Theodore with a confused look.

"He has his own ways to contact me. I'll inform you when he does."

Once again, she nodded absent-mindedly and didn't notice the look he gave her when she stared off into space with a lost countenance. She closed her eyes when he scooped her up in his arms and felt a headache reaching out for her.

Questions circulated her mind in orbit and she didn't know the answer to most of them. One thing was for sure, her powers would be of use in this upcoming war they were all preparing for. When she would reach back home, Eva made a mental note to talk to Davina about what this war was actually about. Davina was straightforward and she wouldn't hold back thinking that it would harm or shock her in any way.

Busy in sorting her thoughts, Eva didn't realize how she had referred to Eden as her home.
