Chapter 121 - The Underworld (Part IV)

Eva's eyes darted between the two men who seemed to be busy glaring at each other. She cleared her throat, drawing Theo's eyes toward her while neither of them noticed Asher's eyes widening.

Did Theodore Blackwell back away first!? Was the world finally going triangular?

Or did that girl put a spell on him?

"Mind introducing me?' Eva asked with the cheekiest grin she could pull and saw his lips twitching up.

"Nevermind," she spoke hurriedly, not giving him a chance to interrupt. "I'm Eva, it's... okay to meet you?" she fished her vocabulary for something appropriate but ended up choosing the worst out of the bunch.

Asher snorted. Who did this... 'Eva' think she was? It was okay to meet him!? Just okay?

No pleasure, no nothing?

Theo seemed to be holding back his laughter with the utmost strength when she looked up to see his reaction. The guards all had the same dull expression on their faces but she wondered if she saw one of them place a fist in their mouth before Asher could spot them.

"Do you know who I am young lady?" he questioned, and Eva took her sweet time to stare down his body and then back up to his face.

"Does it look like I care to know?" she asked back and this time Theo chuckled out loud enough for the guards to whip out their weapons as if they heard something out of the world. Their eyes simultaneously widened along with their King when they saw Theo gaze at her with a small smile gracing his normally deadly features.

"Fancy seeing you both here in this hell of a place." Asher change the topic with ease, his eyes glinting as they traveled toward the cage Moros was now leaning against and smirking in their direction. It didn't take a mastermind to wonder what they were doing here.

"And you seem to be digging for more soldiers. Let me guess, your men got tired and left for another better country?" Theo replied and the angry glimmer in Asher's orbs told him that his words had hit him right where it hurt the most.

"You're outnumbered here you asshole." the King spitted out and became even more enraged when Theo did nothing but shrug and lazily grin back at him.

"If I fall, I'll make sure to take you down with me," Theo answered and ran one of his long fingers down the small hand he was holding in his grip. "And anyway, we both know that your minions here are puppies in front of a starving wolf."

"And what about this little minion by your side eh?" Asher grinned at her but only received a monotonous expression back, the reaction he was waiting for didn't arrive.

"This minion here can take you all down with a flick of her fingers." Theo drawled out and Eva gazed up at him in confusion. Was he exaggerating or was that actually the truth?

At this, Asher raised his brows a bit and scoffed internally. This little thing? Ha! Not a fricking chance...

"Then while I take a small break from all this walking around, my guards will happily give you some company." saying that, he nodded in their direction with an evil grin and stepped back to watch the show.

Eva felt Theo pushing her back with his hand and she wondered if she was the only one who spotted a flash of worry cross his eyes when he glanced at her. No, she couldn't be a hindrance this time too...

"Stay back and no matter what happens, don't interfere." his tone was stern but she knew he was tense because of her only. So instead of arguing back like she usually would, she nodded compliantly and stepped back too.

She saw him breathe out in relief as he faced the hundred of soldiers that had now brought out all the weapons that they could bring along. This man was the one who had the blood of most of their soldiers on his hands. They didn't want to be part of those names too!

"Worried?" a hoarse voice near her ear and she glanced toward Moros who seemed to be enjoying all this the most.

"I'm not." she lied like an expert and maintained her features as flat as she could to make them appear unruffled.

She could easily observe Asher from the position where she stood. He looked unbothered but deep in his eyes, she could spot the uneasiness when he saw Theo smirking at his group of soldiers. No matter how powerful he himself was, Asher was nothing in comparison to the power that Theo had buried inside him.

The first guard to approach him launched his weapon first. Theo cocked his head to a side, easily dodging it while Eva gasped as it got stuck to the wall opposite where they were standing. It was a second's work and she wondered how he had evaded it so gracefully without letting it graze his cheek as it went flying by.

Her eyes returned to the bodyguard whose legs were now visibly shaking. He ran forward with his sword held up high in the air and started slashing it like a madman, trying to aim in at least one spot before he went down. Eva had her hands clenched into fists as she watched Theo duck and sidestep the blade at exactly the correct moments in time.

The guy finally stumbled due to his too-sharp movements and Theo seized the chance to grab his sword and knee it to break it into two perfect halves. The man's eyes were wider than dinner plates and Eva wondered if he had peed himself considering how hard he was trembling before the Devil himself.

Theo raised his hand to issue a flame of silver fire and at the sight of his powers, the man's soul gave away and he fainted off to the ground. Eva saw Asher's face burn bright red with embarrassment as he pointed toward Theo and yelled to his guards,

"What're you all waiting for? Attack him!"
