Eva saw him leaving for somewhere but didn't ask where. It was good that he was going away or she didn't know what she would've spouted in her anger.
After making sure he was completely gone, Eva tried standing up on her two feet. Her legs were sore and aching due to inactivity and she wondered how Ken had brought her so far? On foot, or by dragging her by her hair?
She could hear her heart pumping rapidly in her chest as she looked up to stare at the stars which were only half visible because of the tall trees hiding them.
She was weak and helpless and she hated it more than anything. If only she wasn't tied, beating the lord up and escaping wouldn't be so hard as it was now. It felt like that day when she was about to fall off the tree except for this time, it was unlikely that the King would find her.
A seed of doubt had been planted in her mind because of Ken's words and she wondered what would happen when they reach the village. Would somebody come to help her without even knowing her situation?
The only thing she could do was to wait for the lord to come back and ask him more questions. If he lost his way, she would probably be eaten by wild animals and the idea didn't scare Eva as much as the arrival of Ken did.
A few seconds later, Ken appeared but he seemed to be in a panicked state. He hastily approached her and dragged her up by the arm, his hand gripping her tightly making sure to leave hand prints.
"Where are you taking me?" she asked confused seeing how rushed he was acting.
Just a few minutes ago, he was busy mocking her but Eva could see the tinge of fear in his eyes as he scanned the perimeter around for someone or something.
"We are going to travel by night. I heard voices in the forest, looks like the King must've taken a special liking to your body," he spoke and Eva recoiled back in disgust.
"Don't you fucking dare to run away, got that?" crouching down, he loosened the ropes around her ankles making it easier for her to walk freely. Eva nodded hurriedly when she saw him look at her.
Pinching her chin, he spoke, "I want words."
"Y-yes I won't run away."
"Good girl."
Taking her arm in a painful grip, he pulled her in another direction of the forest with hurried steps. Eva made sure to keep her brain on as she looked around trying to figure out which part of the forest she was in. The only way out of the Kingdom was through the Enchanted Forest and some part of her had started to think that it was cursed to trap people inside it.
Leaves crunched under her feet as her breath soon started getting heavy. An hour was about to pass with them roaming around the forest and Eva was starting to think that Ken had lost his way and forgotten where the village was.
The pair halted on their way when they heard a loud thump behind them. Ken slowly turned around and his eyes widened seeing the very same devil standing there, glaring bombs at him.
Eva released a relieved sigh. She had never been so happy to see anyone in her life. He had found her and didn't let go of her hand yet. Her happiness which had skyrocketed came falling to the ground when she saw the deadly look in his eyes.
He was going to kill him.
There was no doubt left.
Before Ken could do anything or threaten him with Eva, Theo reached him within a second and gripped his neck in a tighter grip than before. His eyes fluctuated between red and black for a moment before he tried to compose himself.
"Your Majesty-" she started but was interrupted yet again.
"Leon, take her back," he spoke without sparing a single glance at her.
Eva turned around to see the advisor jump from a tree and land smoothly on the ground on his two feet. She wondered if he was a vampire too when he took out a knife and broke open the ropes that were binding her hands.
Rubbing her wrists, she approached the King cautiously from behind. As if he had sensed her presence, he ordered Leon in a firm tone, "Take her back now."
Eva shook her head at Leon who looked confused on who to listen to. If he took the lady away forcefully, who knew what she would try to do?
Taking a deep breath, she touched his hand which lay by his side gently, and took it in her soft ones.
"Theo?"
The lord dropped to the ground wheezing and clutching his throat as he rolled around in pain. Turning around, Theo looked at her with blood-red eyes which didn't produce a single drop of fear in her. She approached him nevertheless, laying her hand on his cheek to soothe him down.
She didn't want him to shed blood without any reason. He needed to know that she was safe and wanted to go back with him.
She needed him.
More than ever.
His eyes widened when he saw Eva's eyes fill up and soon drops of water were falling down her cheeks making them glisten. It felt like somebody was squeezing his heart tightly when he saw her crying because of him.
Hurriedly, he neared her and wrapped his arms around her frail body which was shivering hard because of how violently she was crying and shaking.
This wasn't what he wanted.
He wanted her to stay happy.
But all he was doing was putting her in more danger.
His heart and thoughts thudded to a stop when he felt Eva place her hands on his back and pat it gently.
Her hands traveled up to wrap around his neck, and she pulled him into her warm, beautiful, full of goodness body.
He was tainting her. Someone like him should never touch someone like her. Someone so good, so selfless, so strong.
She was hope, and he was hopeless.
A lost cause.
She was an angel and he a devil. How could they be together, he asked himself as he buried his face into the crook of her neck and snuggled inside her warmth.
A portal opened before them and with Eva's body wrapped around his, Theo entered his room, not letting her go and not bothering to look back.
She was here and that was all that mattered.
Fuck the rest of the world, he didn't care what happened any longer.
She was in his arms and he was in hers.
She was an angel, that made even the devil want to go to heaven if this is what heaven felt like.
Serendipity.
Ecstasy.
Serenity.
Magic.
Epiphany.
