Chapter 46 - Becoming an elite

The next day...

Ethan lay on his bed, thinking about his fight with the elastic user.

He looked back at his weaknesses in the fight, and after thinking for a while, he figured out that he lacked close combat skills.

He planned on visiting Instructor Wu.

On his side, Noah snored loudly with one of his legs on the ground, his bedsheets scattered, pillows everywhere, and a trail of dried liquid on his cheeks.

Ileus, on the other hand, slept in one position, and his bed intact. He slept like a prince.

But is he?

Ethan checked the alarm by his bedside. It showed 5.30 am. He still had 1 hour and 30 minutes before the school alarm rang.

He got up, took his bath, and snatched a cup of coffee.

After he gobbled it down, he felt more awake. After all, that's the job of coffee: to make you feel more awake.

He came back, sat at the edge of his bed, and opened his system interface.

Several thoughts ran through his head. Whether he should purchase another dragon channeling portion or not.

These thoughts had lingered around in his mind for some time now.

He had initially planned to stockpile his points so that it would take him straight to the next rank, but it seemed like the points were not coming.

Even a little bit of a boost in level would drastically increase his strength, and if he wanted anything more right now, it would be a boost in strength.

He opened his system and scrawled down to the store tab. He proceeded to select, but a knock resounded.

Knock, knock, knock.

Ethan looked at his Bros. They didn't seem like they would wake up any moment from now.

He opened the door. A short, slim man in a military uniform stood outside with a cupboard box in his hand.

"Good day, sir!" Ethan saluted.

The man nodded, and he gave the box to Ethan.

Ethan wanted to ask questions, but he remembered one of the academy's rules. Do not ask any military officials any questions.

He took the box inside, placed it on top of his bed, and unsealed the WMO seal on it.

He opened it and saw a neatly folded electronic note. He unfolded it and read it.

Dear Ethan,

This is the academy's highest authority. The reason we are sending this electronic note is that we are inviting you to become an elite student.

We have recognized your fighting prowess and see you fit to be an elite student.

---

Ethan moved his eyes to the end of the note, and he saw two boxes with options.

[Accept] [Decline]

His fingers moved to accept it without even a second of hesitation.

After a while, the content of the note faded, and it showed a bold capital letter.

[THANK YOU]

A smile slowly crept across Ethan's lips. Things had moved smoothly for him since he stepped on Earth, but he knew this comfort wouldn't last. For now, he just wanted to let himself loose before the storm came.

Ethan brought out the remaining item, a white uniform, and unfolded it. He spread the uniform on his bed.

He tapped his spatial rings twice, and the uniform vanished from the bed.

After some time, Ileus and Noah woke up.

Then, some minutes later, the alarm resounded, signifying the start of class.

"Guys, I have something to tell you," Ethan said with a smile.

"What is it?" Noah and Ileus said, in anticipation.

Ethan tapped his spatial ring, and his black uniform changed to white, and the elite student logo on his left chest sparkled.

"Congratulations," Noah and Ileus said at once.

"We are so happy for you."

"Thanks." Ethan smiled back.

Ethan didn't know how to feel. He felt happy and sad at the same time. Now that he had become an elite student, he would be moved to the elite floor.

That meant he would be separated from the only friends he had ever had.

But no one said anything like they would remain a normal student forever.

In fact, Ethan felt Noah could have been elite if he wanted to. His abilities, fighting prowess, and calm composure. All this qualified him to be an elite student.

But Ethan wondered why they hadn't made him an elite.

"We'll miss you," Ileus said.

"We are still in the same building, and I will come visit from time to time,"  Ethan said.

"If that is, we don't get there first." Noah wrapped his hands around Ethan's neck.

"Well, I look forward to that."

After they chatted for a while, Ethan left the room.

He walked to the elevator he had used before, but this time, he was not going there for a fight, but rather to become one of them.

----

Kai Boulder sat at a table inside the elite canteen. With a couple of his lackeys by his side.

The waiters served delicious-looking food. Almost all of the tables had extravagant meals arranged on them.

The elastic user Ethan had fought also sat with Kai.

He didn't chat with Kai like the others did. He held his head bent without saying anything.

As for Kai, he felt happy that the elastic users lost. If not, it would have been a slap to his face.

One of his lackeys defeated a person he could not beat. Now that won't sound right.

"Kai, we heard from one of our Intel about that Layla girl," one of Kai's lackeys said.

" What is it?" Kai sipped his orange juice slowly. Although he tried to hide it, he felt embarrassed about his loss to Ethan.

He could not raise his head like before and act arrogant. He could only trust his family to get rid of Ethan as fast as they could.

The boy waited for Kai to finish his drink before he said,

"She came from a modest family; a single mother who is 50 years old; her father has been missing for five years now."

"Good job," Kai smiled. Since he could only wait for Ethan to be taken care of, he decided to strike the one who gave his girlfriend sleepless nights.

"Where does her mother stay?" Kai asked.

The boy pulled out his transparent glass phone. He scrolled down several porn pics with an embarrassed face before he stopped at a photo that displayed a rusty metal building.

"Yeah." He handed the phone to Kai.

"You've been helpful, unlike someone." Kai glanced at a certain person who had held his head down all this while.

"Time to pay someone a visit." Kai flashed a deadly smile.

---

Ethan followed the radar shown on his hand band and shuffled through the elite floor, past several students, before he reached a long hallway with metal doors on both sides, and after walking for a while, he reached his door.

----

At the same time, inside an office, Commander Xavier sat across a wide metal table, and behind him, heavy, thick books were neatly arranged on a long bookshelf.

Ding ding.

Commander Xavier tapped his earpiece, and a voice came from the other side.

"Sir, our boy Ethan just checked in."

He tapped his earpiece again and the communication line cut off.

"Ethan Hawk. Is that even your real name? But don't worry, I will soon unlock all your mysteries, everything you're hiding. "
