Chapter 5 - End of mission

"Why?" Ethan stared at the strange-looking mask. The mask was separated by black and red on each side. The mask had long horns protruding from the top and long, sharp fangs that extended out of its mouth. Its eyes looked like the eyes of a predator and a demon.

"This mask will be very useful to you. Just trust me. I know what I am doing," Rowena said.

"You know it better than I do, and it was yours before, anyway."

Ethan shrugged and put the mask in his inventory.

He passed through various weapons. He halted when he got to the end of the hall. He was awestruck by what he saw next: a contact lens.

"What the hell is this stuff doing here?" he furrowed his brows.

"These are the Demi-God's tier. It can evaluate your strengths and attributes. It can also help you use your abilities more easily with just a command. Let me say it is similar to those systems in fantasy novels. " Rowena said enthusiastically.

" There is a downside to this. If it's worn, you won't be able to remove it, and it also won't change your eye color. "

"Who made it?" Ethan inquired.

"It was made by me and close pals of mine as a gift for my 1000th birthday anniversary. I would have liked to put it on, but since I have taken this form, it won't be possible again, and by the way, it would be a waste if I put it in now," said Rowena said in a soft tone; his usual loud voice was nowhere to be seen.

"Why don't you put it on? I'd like to see how it is." Rowena urged.

Ethan proceeded to put on the mask. The thing is that, without him suggesting it, he would have still taken it. Who wouldn't want a system like that? Even though it doesn't give quests like other systems, it would still help him make use of his powers easily. Immediately, the lenses merged with his eyes, and a blue screen flashed, obstructing his view.

[Greetings, host]

A portal suddenly appeared out of nowhere in the dragon forest, and then an airship came through it. The bottom of the ship opened, and a man jumped out, landing straight without bending his knees. This man was Aldric.

[AN: Yes, I am going to use Dragon Forest instead of Dragon Beast Forest because it looks kind of long.]

"I hope the boy is still safe out there," Aldric thought, looking at the vast forest. Shortly later, he saw three princes coming toward him. His heart started throbbing instantly, and he quickly looked ahead of the three figures, but Ethan was not among the princes.

His face quickly darkened, and tears threatened to fall out of his eyes.

Aldric knew he had failed to protect the boy. His sister entrusted him.

"Where is Ethan?" was the first word that came to his mouth. The princes tried to avoid eye contact with Aldric.

" I said, where is Ethan?" Aldric repeated his question.

"He-was–devour—"

"I'm here, uncle!" A scream suddenly came from behind the princes.

The princes quickly turned around, and their pupils grew at the person in front of them.

Many thoughts flooded their minds, but they quickly gained their composure.

Aldric heaved an audible sigh of relief. Luckily for the prince, he was not able to see the expression they made.

Ethan walked over and stood close to the others. The prince sent furious glares at him, but he ignored them completely.

"So why are your guys sobbing as if something bad happened?"

" Nothing," they all said at once. Aldric smells something fishy, but he pushes the thought away.

"Now, back to business. Where are the dragon eggs? "

They all brought their dragon eggs out. Each of them held one egg, but what happened next stunned them, because Ethan currently carried two eggs.

It was a shock because he was considered the weakest among them. Although they knew he could still make them sweat a bit, they never believed he could escape that fall, and on top of that, he could gain 2 dragon eggs on his own, because even though they did teamwork to get the eggs, it wasn't easy.

Within the airships...

The airship was returning at a fast pace, making a trail of light behind them, but the same could not be said for the princes, as they were all glaring at Ethan with killing intent.

After a while, Ethan muttered to himself, "Time to check this system stuff."
