"I need information and only you can help me."
A slight frown marred Uriah's face when he heard the urgency in those words. The boy was speaking the truth; he really was in a bind.
"What will I get for helping you?"
"I will return the favor for you with no questions asked in the future."
"I see. You must be desperate then to make such a foolish bargain with a vampire. I can see why you came to me and not to any of my peers."
It was very foolish to make bargains with vampires; it was akin to bargaining away your soul to the devils. Vampires could live forever, and their grudges never ended you could easily slave away for the rest of your live if you didn't word your deal the right way.
Lord Uriah might have had a reputation of being deadly and not one to mess with, but he was also loyal and fair. Even when he told everyone he was retired and no longer in the running, people still hovered in fear around him and for good reason.
