Hours had passed since the men fell off the cliff into the ocean. The rebel's body had been recovered but still there was no sign of Marino anywhere. Nothing was worse than not having closure for a loved one and nothing anyone said penetrated Ari's profound grief.
"Has she eaten?" asked a concerned Eileen to Nana.
Nana shook her head. It upset Nana to see Ari so despondent and it also worried her. Madeline had been just like this when she thought she had lost Lord Uriah. Nana feared that Ari's grief would soon turn to rage and that she would turn to the dark side and answer the siren's call.
A slight frown crossed Eileen's face, she went into the kitchen pulled out a pitcher filled with cider and a glass for Ari to drink from. She remembered that Ari was fond of the cider and she hoped by putting some in front of her Ari would drink some.
