Chapter 1 - Prologue

I curse underneath my breath. My head pounds hard against my skull. I allow my eyes to flicker to anything in this room that would be kind enough to hold my attention.

Nothing does. My mind wonders back to that bad place. Shivers travel up and down my spine at the mere thought of it.

"Why isn't she reacting to the silver?!" A tall man with black hair and hazel eyes, gripped the hem of another man's shirt, his eyes filled with hatred as he scanned my weak body.

"She's human Constantine..." The man being held at Constantine's mercy calls to mind with great difficulty.

"I want him to feel, her flesh burning! I want him to suffer for what he did to Miranda!" Constantine said with clenched teeth and throws the other man to the wall, and I flinch when I see him walking towards me.

"A man cannot be that cold. Can he snowy?" He pulls out a whip with metal sticking out of it and the second it collided with my skin, I scream in pain.

My toes curl and tears burn my sore eyes.

I heard a door open behind me and I jump to my feet, holding myself in my arms. Fear paralyzing me. I'm here, I'm fine, I'm safe. I repeatedly tell myself once I get my mind off that horrible moment in my life. I don't entirely remember what happened and I'm sure as hell do not want to think about what happened next.

I'm not sure how long I've been in here. I slowly turn around to look at the person that's graced me with their presence. I feel my heart jump when I notice him. It's as if I'm seeing him for the first time, I don't remember having an encounter with him, but my body seemed to know him.

He looks at me, but I could not figure out what was swimming in those eyes, he clears his throat and hurriedly walks over to a section of this room that had a study.

"Who are you?" I muster up the courage to ask him. I see him clench his jaw.

"You'll find out in due time." He responds in the most alluring British accent I've ever heard. So deep, sultry maybe, and calm at the same time. He grabs a few pages off the table, and puts them in a file.

"Do you know where we are? I'd like to go home." I ask timidly, feeling a little shy.

I rub my palms together and I notice them sweating. I tuck my hands into my jeans and sit back on the bed. He didn't care to give me a response, he just walks back to the door.

"Where are you going?" I ask again.

"None of your concern." He mumbles I got up as fast as I could to get to the door.

"And where do you think you're going?" He grunts at me, and I look at him surprised.

"Home? I said I want to go home." I say a little sternly, I could have sworn that for a nanosecond he seemed a little impressed, but he pulled back that cold glare at me instead.
