Walter's POV
"You're not going to let him, get away with this are you?" My darling brother says to my father, and I roll my eyes. I would join in their friendly banter but I'm still going to do it. They both know that this isn't going to stop me.
"If the boy says he wants to go to high school with everyone else then let him. Why can you not understand him?" My father tries to make my older brother understand. He's just bitter that he was the experimental child my father is just letting me do things that he couldn't do when he was my age.
"How is High School supposed to help him with running a kingdom?" He crosses his arms and walks over to the seat near the throne, where my father sat peacefully sipping his whiskey.
"That is why you're here. When you're King, soon enough you'll take control of everything and won't have to worry about your raging brother." My father reasons and I take all offense.
"You are aware that I am right here, right?" I say and my older brother rolls his eyes at me. He lets out an exhausted sign.
"Fine… You can go to school… But you need to understand that these are humans. Don't scare them with your abilities." He says in a bored tone, and he makes his way out of the throne room. I jump up and shoot my fist in air.
"I could kiss you right now, brother." I taunt him with a wide grin. "Thank you, father, I'll be on my best behaviour." I assure my father and he just chuckles and says, 'yeah right'.
"Christopher will join you. I have already sent him there; He'll be teaching Philosophy. I know a few people at the school, and they managed to pull a few strings. Do not do anything stupid, Walter." My father warns me, gingerly getting up from his seat and walks out of the room.
I follow him right after and leave the castle to find a driver waiting for me outside. Fuck! Seriously? I can drive myself. Thank you very much. Now how am I supposed the blend in when I've got a bodyguard at school and a chauffeur waiting for me outside.
"Walter!" I hear my older brother call me and he's lurking at the front door. Hands in his expensive pocket. A stern look on his face. I walk to him, and I sometimes wonder if he hates me...
"The only reason Father has Christopher and the driver around you is because Constantine may attack at any moment. You need to keep that in mind. If another episode happens again. I'll kill you myself." He says looking down at me because he's a few inches taller. I bite my bottom lip and look down. Trying to forget about what happened to me.
…
"I'll be back to pick you up after school sir." The driver says as soon as we get to, and I say thank you. I exit the car, throwing my bag on my shoulder and walk towards the school.
There are a lot of students here and I can tell that a few people were staring at me. I make my way to the principal's office to receive rule books and whatever else is important. I walk into the administration and see a lovely lady at the reception. She looks at me with wide eyes and I smile at her, hoping to make a great first impression.
"Is the principal in his office?" I asked and she just gapes at me.
"Y-you mus-st be Walter…" She says in a sheepish tone, and I find her stutter adorable. People always seem to do that when I talk to them. She clears her throat and smiles at me.
"I'll ring you in." She says and I nod my head. She signals for me to enter the room and I open the door and see Christopher with the principal.
"How is my favourite royal?" Chris says and I just chuckle at his question. I look over to the principal and back at Chris. Does he know we're werewolves? I mind-link Chris. Yes. He answers and I'm sucked back into the conversation in the room.
The Principal threw a tone of books on his table and starts explaining all the important things I need to know. I should be concentrating but I'm hit by the most intoxicating scent in the world, and I immediately know it's my mate. I didn't hear anything that the principal was saying, and I just wanted to find the source of this scent.
I bolt out of the room once I'm told that I could leave. I mind linked Chris to tell him I found her, and he said I could be late to class if I need to be. I rush to my locker and throw my books and pamphlets in it. Taking what I needed or the morning.
I began to even jog. Some people tried to engage me in conversation, but I did not have the time to indulge myself in small chatter. I felt the scent getting stronger and stronger and my wolf inside howled so loud. I start to walk down the stairs and I almost tripped over something, but I caught it before it could fall.
To my dismay it was not a thing. A person. A lady to be specific. The scent was so strong on her, but it was not her. I was disappointed because I have never seen a girl as beautiful as her. Eyes like silver and hair like a raven's. She had beautifully plumped lips. My human side wanted her right here and now, but my wolf was repulsed. Why could she not be my mate?
"It's not you…" I whisper and she looks at me a little confused. She shifts in my arms uncomfortably and I let her create a distant between us.
"I'm sorry for being awkward. Forget what I said. My name is Walter, I'm new here." I say with a small smile and her eyes widen just like everyone else does.
"Well, you are going to be a thirst trap." She says nonchalantly, I desired to laugh but I wanted her to repeat herself, so I just furrowed my brows and look down at her grey eyes.
"My name is Reece. Fuck! I've got class in 2 minutes. I'll catch you later." She sprints upstairs and I see that all the students are going to class. The scent is still lingering with her, and it fades the further I get away from her. If she's not my mate, she must have been in contact with her maybe.
I walk to my first class which is Philosophy and sit somewhere in the middle. I am having a small conversation with one of the girls in the class because Christopher said we must wait for the late comer. We hear a light knock on the door and everyone in the class keeps quiet.
"That must be them." Chris says walking over to the door. He swings the door open and that scent rushes in once more.
"I'm sorry! I was getting my stuff upstairs. It won't happen again." She rambles and I smile at her direction.
"It's okay." He says to her and lets her in. she sits right in front of me, I can sense that I make her slightly nervous. Chris raises his brows at me, and I give him a small nod. But why can I smell her too? He mind-links me and I say I don't have any clue.
"Welcome students, my name is Christopher Evans. But please call me Chris. No need to bring in my father's name." He says with a warm smile, and everyone chuckles. He asks us to pull out our books and pens and start writing things down.
