Just then, he thundered!
"YOUR DAUGHTER IS ALIVE!".
The strike on me stopped abruptly.
"Merlin, so pathetic. And you think, I'll just digest it, just like that, huh?".
She steadied her hand to strike me again.
"Grey eyes, crimson hair, and a flat nose...".
Her hands started shaking violently.
"How did you know that? You never knew her".
"...Lastly, she possesses calloused earlobes".
The knife fell down from her hands.
Tears fell down her eyes.
She staggered backwards unsteadily.
Rachel quickly grabbed her to avoid her fall.
She sat her on the ground.
From behind, I saw a broken woman who was pushed to the wall.
"You really didn't lie this time".
She then stood and went to where Merlin stood.
"Please tell me where she is, I beg of you. I haven't seen her in five decades".
"She never left you".
"How do you mean?"
"MAMA!!!" the voice echoed.
She froze on hearing the voice, as if recognizing the voice.
I turned back, almost in sync with Cleo.
I was shocked at who I saw.
It was Melinda, from the Council!
She was my captor's long-lost daughter!!!
She ran towards her almost immediately.
My vision started to blur slowly.
They hugged each other tightly.
The pent up emotions burst out of both of them.
They wept in each other's embrace.
I didn't want to ruin their moment but I couldn't help it.
"Melinda? You?!!!".
She then looked to my direction.
She then blinked the tears away to see clearly.
"Ace, what are you doing here?".
She then broke the embrace.
She raced towards me.
"What are you doing here?".
"This is Helen's office. I came here to see her. Then I saw Mama".
She looked at the enchantment pinning me down.
"I recognize this spell. Mama, was this your doing?".
She turned to her mother.
MOMENTS LATER
"Mama, you never gave up your idea of revenge".
"I watched you die in the crossfire. What else could I do?".
"But that wasn't enough reason".
"Imagine what it felt like, Mel. Understand me"
"I do, Mama. And I could have died there. But a druid saved me".
"A druid? Impossible!".
"It's true, Mama. I...".
"I really like the catching up going on. But I feel rather weak. Could you help me out of....?".
A surge of energy separated us, sending us flying across the hall.
A petrifying screech filled the room.
I hit my head against a boulder.
My vision became even more distorted.
As pictures began to lose clarity, a distinguished voice echoed and shook the room.
"WHERE IS MY SON???".
It was MOM!!!
