Chapter 4 - THE COUNCIL

ACE POV:

We came back from the past. I didn't understand what just happened.

"So, I'm a pure-blood?"I asked.

"No, yes, somehow" replied Willis, not too sure.

"Explain to me, what do you mean?" I asked.

"The Council of Druids will explain better" he said.

"So, where is the Council of Druids?" I asked.

"Hold on tight" he said.

"Wait a minute, don't tell me we are going on another..." SH said.

"Sirae Divaris" Willis said.

A bright light shone from what seemed like a trans-dimensional portal that opened at Willis' spell.

"Come on" he urged.

Jane entered, followed by Shola. Mom moved back a little.

"Isn't she coming with us?" I asked.

"No, she's an ordinary. She can't stand before the Council of Druids" Willis replied.

"So...?".

"Yes, they possess it, just like you".

"It'll be alright, son" Mom said.

I stared intently at both of them. I then went through the portal.

"He'll be fine, I promise you" i heard Willis say to Mum.

On the other side of the portal, it seemed just like an organisation.

"It's different from what I imagined" I said.

"Well, it's just like any other. What were you expecting?" said Willis who just emerged from the portal.

"Wow, we are dressed differently" SH said.

I looked, only to confirm his statement.

"Each costume represents your descent" Willis said. A lady walked towards us.

"Guardian Willis, the Council is seated" she said.

"Let's not keep them waiting" he replied.

"Is he the one?" she pointed at me.

"Yes, he is" he replied.

"Nice to meet you, pure-blood. I'm Melinda" she said, offering her hand for a handshake.

"I'm Ace" I replied.

"Shall we?" said Willis.

AT THE COUNCIL-ROOM

ACE POV:

Everything was simply magnificent! The room was decorated in a grand style. Everything was in orderly arrangement, not to say for the people.

"Glory to Godan!" echoed a member.

"Glory to the gods!" replied the others, including Willis.

They all recovered their seats.

"Is he the pure-blood?" one asked, pointing to me.

"Aye, sir" replied Willis.

"Step forward" he said.

I immediately obeyed.

"Lift the Sword of Godan".

I hesitated a bit. I looked at Willis who nodded to me. I touched the Sword and tried to lift it. Surprisingly, it felt like feather-weight to me.

As I lifted it, the gem on the Sword glowed red. Surprised gasps filled the air.

"Very well then" the former said.

"You can keep it back" he said again.

I then dropped it back.

"What are the rest doing here?" boomed the voice of another.

"Well..., I...," stammered Willis.

"They're here with me" I replied.

"They are not needed" another said.

"If they are not here, I'll leave" I said.

"Have it your way, pure-blood" the former said.

Pure-blood was soon becoming my official name.

"Have you been adequately informed, pure-blood?" the latter asked.

"Well, not to my understanding" I replied.

He then fixed a smouldering gaze on Willis.

"Very well, then" he said.

He stomped his staff twice on the ground.

I once again found myself into another dimension, along with the others.

THIRD-PERSON POV:

After the War of the gods, our world was recreated. The gods soon began to have descendants. The descendants soon mixed up with the ordinary to form a people. They formed nations that lived peacefully with each other. Each nation was named after each god, except Durz. Each god ascended into Arzetis, leaving our world to be ruled by their descendants. Unknown to the gods, Durz had a descendant.

He felt abandoned and neglected by the surviving gods because his predecessor was dead. He grew bitter and bitter everyday. He then vowed to wreck havoc on our world. He decided to unleash the Dark One on our world. He found out that the only way to unleash the Dark One was to kill the pure-blood.

He couldn't because the pure-blood wasn't born. He gave the mandate to his descendants to unleash the Dark One. Finally, a descendant of his, Kraavin instigated the War of the lands. He sought to destroy the pure-blood under the guise of the quest for power. He was sorely discomfited by descendants of Arith, led by Queen Monia.

Kraavin escaped with his trusted lieutenants.

A remnant of his army, Captain Tunga and his squad sought to kill the royal family, who bred the pure-blood; Avrinth. Avrinth was saved by Radagast the Brown, who brought him to Arith, keeping the balance to the cycle.

After the War of the lands, it was thought wise to establish a Council of Druids to assist the pure-bloods keep the balance, and most importantly, prevent another war.

Many pure-bloods like Merlin, Gandalf the Grey, Alatar the Blue, Gwydion and many others has kept the balance to the cycle with the help of the Council of Druids.

At present, a threat to the cycle is presented. The pure-blood descendant, Johann Sebastian Peters was killed by a descendant of Durz, Hela Dridella. The gem-stone holding the Dark One is breaking. A new pure-blood descendant must rise to replace him or the danger of Melithos being unleashed on the universe becomes inevitable.

ACE POV:

Back from the dimension, I said "I'm the pure-blood descendant now".

"No, you're not" one argued.

"He wasn't chosen, he was given" another added.

Murmurings started to rise with shouts of disapproval being voiced out loudly.

"Silence!" screamed one, who I had perceived was the leader.

Everywhere went quiet at once.

"We must not debate over this like sucklings" he added.

"We should not forget that the ophital has a will. It chooses the right pure-blood always" he continued.

"But he was given the ophital" argued one again.

"And he was not born to be the pure-blood" added another.

I was beginning to feel that the odds were against me.

"Neither was he rejected, was he?" the leader echoed.

Silence reigned again.

"The ophital has seen something in him that we can't see. Let us all respect the choice of the gods" he added.

"If there's nothing else you all would like to say, then this session of the Council is officially declared over" he thundered.

"As you wish, my Lord" they all chorused.

AFTER THE MEETING

ACE POV:

I was moving away with the rest when I said.

"That went surprisingly well".

"Yeah, I also thought that we were going to be ushered out, but you stood strong" Jane said.

"I wish Mum could come" I said. "Yeah, me too" SH replied.

"Guardian Willis" I heard someone say.

I turned only to see Melinda rushing towards us.

"Have you informed them about the Academy?" she asked.

"Oh, yes. It escaped my mind. Tomorrow guys, you're resuming the Druid Academy" Willis said.

"What's the Druid Academy?" Shola asked.

"It's an Academy for young magicians like yourself" he said.

"And that's where you'll earn that Sword, pure-blood" added Melinda.

"School again?" I groaned.

"It's not like your regular college, pure-blood. It's different and I'm sure you'll enjoy it" she coaxed.

"Sound like I don't have much of a choice anyway" I said in resignation.

"And please stop calling me 'pure-blood'. My name's Ace" I complained.

"Okay pure..., I mean Ace" she answered.

"Okay, time to go home, guys" Willis said.

"Finally" I and SH chorused.

"What's it about the ophital that I was given, not chosen?" I asked Willis as he opened the portal.

"I'll explain at home" he said.

We all entered the portal.

"Yes, he just left the Council" a hooded man said over the phone.

"Finish him off" he said.
