"Wake up baby, it's time for school."
I awoke the next morning from my mother shaking my shoulders.
"I'm up. I'm up Ma." I mumbled sleepily.
"Come on. You have 30 minutes to wash up and eat your last meal before you need to log in." She said.
"Mmmm." I groaned as an answer.
"Ha, just hurry so you don't miss your last breakfast."
Mom then got up and left the room.
I was still extremely tired, but this would be my last real meal for a while so I had to attend breakfast today.
My family has a tradition for each year when a child would enter VR for the first time. Everyone comes out of the game to have breakfast for what would be the last time for a while for the child.
This tradition is one of the only times my family has a meal together since Mark entered the game. My parents may come out of the game once a week, but he doesn't have that luxury. Mark actually didn't leave the game for the first time until it was time for Nev to have his send off breakfast. So he was in the game for a year long stint on his first time in the game.
My send off breakfast would be my first time seeing Lily in a year, so I definitely needed to go because I wanted to talk with her about a few things first.
I stood up and put on black sweatpants and a plain black shirt before going downstairs.
We had a few dining rooms in the house, but one of them was reserved for private events with just our family, so I made my way to that one.
"Morning." I grumbled to my family.
They were all already sitting down around the table.
I sat between Lilian and Seban one one side of the table. Markan was directly across from Lily, Nevandius was across from me, and Penny sat across Seban. My father sat on one side at the head of the table while mom sat at the head on the other side.
There were piles of breakfast food on the table, but no one had anything on their plates just yet. It seemed they were waiting for me.
"Sorry, my alarm didn't go off." I said.
"All good." Lily said.
Dad smiled at me as I sat down.
"Now that we're all here.
Congratulations Maruma, you have grown up well and we are all excited to see what you accomplish in VR.
Now, this is for all of you. Vendar will be entering the war in around 5 years at minimum and 10 years at the latest, so you all don't have much time left to prepare yourselves." He said.
"We have decided to also allow the twins to enter this year with Mar, as they usually would have to wait 3 years due to our planetary laws. We got their nano injections last night while you were all asleep." He gestured to the twins.
"We are bending the rules greatly because they are only 12, so we need you all to protect them.
I'm sorry Lily and Nev, but this means I need you two to halt your progress for the time being. Nev you may not start your voyage to the main VR game until your siblings catch up with you, and Lily you may not start your voyage to the main continent until your siblings catch up."
Nevandius stood up so fast the table shook, "But that could take years!" he interrupted.
"Do not interrupt me boy!" Dad yelled.
Nev instantly realized his blunder and sat back down.
"Sorry." He mumbled.
I looked over to Lilian to see what her reaction to the news was, but if anything she looked happy.
"Yes, it could definitely take years, but it could take even longer if we waited for the twins to reach 15 years old." Dad continued.
"Seban, Penny, and Maruma, you three will have to power through both the academy and the main continent. I want you three to start your voyage to the main game in less than a year."
It was mine and the twins turn to be shocked this time.
The fastest record for our planet to go from level 1 to level 100, which is the level requirement to leave the main continent, is a year and a half. My father basically asked us to set a new record, and by a whole 6 months!
"I know it sounds impossible, but with your older siblings help I think you all can do it." Dad said.
I sighed in my heart, but nodded my head to show my Dad I understood his orders.
"Maruma, I have informed a teacher from the SSS of your future arrival. He will be waiting for you at the academy."
"May I speak father?" I asked.
"Speak."
"What is the SSS?"
"He will explain everything to you when you log in."
"Okay."
It wasn't a straight answer, but I would be logging in soon anyway so I didn't mind.
The twins had been silent throughout the whole conversation, but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. They were both usually the quiet siblings, so no one paid them any extra attention.
"Now, let's eat."
Everyone started to pile various breakfast foods onto their plates.
Mom, Dad, and Markan didn't need to eat real food to survive anymore with their evolved bodies, but food still tasted good so they occasionally indulged themselves.
"Nev, what's your progress with the voyage to the main game anyway?" I asked.
"Sigh. I was 6 months out from departure, so I guess I'll have to add another 6 months to that for you guys. It won't be as bad as I originally thought, so I'm sorry for my outburst, but that's only if you guys do break the record." He said.
"I understand. I'm not sure if we can break a year, but I promise I will try my best." I told him.
"Thanks kiddo."
I rolled my eyes at him. He may be 6 years older than me, but we both knew he was just calling me kiddo to try making me mad.
