Chapter 24 - The Ghost

So where will we start our search? "I enquired as to whether Aj was driving." "We're heading to the D-25 in the city. There are the most murders committed there. "AJ claimed that as he was driving, a holographic image of the D-25 region with red dots appeared directly in front of him.

I didn't notice any patterns in the murders they carried out at random while examining the dots. Each dot had a unique number assigned to it. As I was looking at the map, I assumed that they were the bodies that had been discovered one after another. We both arrived at the first location quickly. Police taps with the outline of a body located directly next to the street. According to the victim's file, the person appeared to have been stabbed to death and was killed in the street.

We moved on to the next location after failing to discover any hints there and discovered the same thing there. It was directly on the road's side of the street. The total number of murders was calculated between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. I remember reading that after looking around the sites for some hints, we moved on to the next site, then the next, and so forth. We browsed about ten sites before sitting in the car and eating some food we had bought.

"What do you think?" I asked. Aj, who was looking at the map, frowned and looked at me while saying, "nope, no clue. All we came to know is that all the victims were stabbed to death and found on the street right next to the road and that all the murders were committed at night. " So I looked at all the sites and contemplated. After a while, I said, "All the victims were going home after their late night work. So I presume the ghost must be a person who roams around the city at night. "

Aj commented, "Hmm, you're right," as he bit into his burger. I considered potential ways to murder someone at night as they were traveling to their home while he was eating. I was contemplating something when I glanced out the window and saw a man standing on the sidewalk. As I watched him, a car pulled up, and he sat in the back seat. I had a thought and asked AJ, "Hey AJ, how do you think people who work at night would get home?" AJ gave me a casual nod and added, "by calling a cab or by waking," as I added.

When I said "exactly," Aj, who was about to take another bite of his burger, stopped and turned to face me. He turned the car on and accelerated to the area in the center of D-25, saying, "We're moving out."

The downtown area (D-25) in the city of Y-25

A man wearing a suit and holding a briefcase stood there. As he waited on the sidewalk, he glanced at the time. It was now eleven o'clock. He was followed by a hovercar as it arrived. "Block 28," he said as he sat in the back seat. The driver responded "yes sir" when he heard this. The man carefully observed his surroundings as the cab moved. He looked around and noticed some holographic newspapers on the side of the seat. He activated one of them and began reading.

"So, sir, what do you do?" The driver enquired. "I work in the human resources division of one of the companies here," the man said as he turned to face him in the rearview mirror. The driver acknowledged this and said, "must be hard work since you're working so hard at night," as he nodded in agreement. As the driver said this, the man put one hand on the suitcase's handle and ran a finger over a black square's outline.

But the man didn't press it and simply just kept his hand there as he read the holographic newspaper.

After some time, the driver announced, "We are here, Sir." It will be 100RC, "as he moved the cab to the side of the road. The man climbed out of the cab after paying and nodding. As the taxi moved forward, the man touched his tie as the car pulled away and said, "It's a bust too." The man said, "Copy that." AJ's voice could be heard coming from the tie. Steven, the man in the suit, was hiding his identity by donning a mask that depicted a 25-year-old man.

A car soon came into view and stopped next to Steven. "Not this one," he said as he got into the car. When AJ heard this, he crossed a name off the list of night shift taxi drivers. He drove the car to another location and said, "Let's go for the next one." Steven and Aj were looking for the ghost, who they believed to be a taxi driver who murdered people and dumped their bodies on sidewalks. They, therefore, pretended to be everyday citizens returning from their jobs to locate him. They had searched through about 50 cabs so far without finding the ghost.

He must be one, deciding as one of the cab drivers thought.

However, despite searching all night long and coming up empty-handed the following day, something miraculously turned up just as they were about to give up. While waiting for his taxi, Steven noticed a woman walking toward him. When she saw him, she asked, "How was work, Marco?" Steven was startled by the question, but he quickly realized that there were two people nearby—one of the women and another in the area where he couldn't see anything. Steven noticed the sweating woman next to him and responded, "It was nice, but the boss is pushing my team too much."

In response, Steven said, When Steven did so, the women's experience was of a person who had been saved from a burning building.

Without anyone noticing, the presence Steven couldn't see soon began to approach him. Steven turned on his abyssal gaze and cast a quick glance in its general direction. A man who had a scar on his face and was holding a knife was visible. He had brown hair and green eyes. When he was within arm's reach of Steven, the man they were looking for attempted to stab him, but a bullet passed through his hand before he could hit his target. It appears that he was wearing some sort of clocking device that rendered him invisible.

"About damn time. What took you so long? " Steven asked once he saw blood appear right in front of him. The target was still in the clocking device, so only the blood was visible. "Oh come on, it took me a while to figure out that he was there. I was going to aim for the woman at first, but she was already about to pee herself, "AJ said as he walked out of the alley right across the road.

Although the ghost was screaming and bleeding from his head, for some reason the sounds didn't escape the clocking device. Steven looked at the woman, but when she saw the blood, she had already fainted. As the target was still wailing in pain, he pulled a katana from his storage device and stabbed it through his heart. Steven quickly lost interest in him because he could see him clearly through his cloaking device. AJ, who was wearing a special device that showed him the man had a chill running down his spine,

"How on earth did he know where his heart was?" He believed that Steven did not have any equipment that would have alerted him to the man's location. But despite everything, he had stabbed him in the heart. His facial expression suggested that he had done nothing. All of this led Aj to believe he should never irritate Steven.

After contacting the authorities and receiving their rewards, they left the scene and went back to their apartment complex. When they got to AJ's apartment, they said goodbye, and Steven moved toward his own apartment. When he went to unlock his door, he discovered it had already been done so. He moved inside and discovered a familiar presence.

He smiled and ignored it and moved to the bathroom, where he took a well-deserved shower and changed his clothes. He was really tired. He hadn't slept in 2 days. He ate some light snacks to fill his tummy and moved to his bedroom. He would find Aimee already there in deep sleep. "How did she even convince her mom to let her sleep here?" he thought when he saw her there.

I approached the bed and slowly got under the sheets so as not to disturb Aimee. She was breathing steadily, which indicated that she was in deep sleep, so I just lay beside her, and as I was about to close my eyes, a hand reached for me, and soon Aimee was hugging me.

I looked over and found that she was still sleeping. "Did she hug me subconsciously?" I thought to myself as I embraced her and closed my eyes to go to sleep.
