After his grand introduction to all elites and stealing the spotlight in the banquet, Wang Hyuk felt he accomplished his goal, letting everyone know that he is back.
Feeling tired from all the show earlier, he decided to rest early. Of course he needed rest, cause soon he will be getting an earful or maybe some beating too? Well, I am just joking, but he sure gonna need to face the wall sooner.
He suddenly remembered the way the old man was eyeing him through his speech. The weight of that shrewd gaze was breathing down his neck and couldn't shake off the gnawing worry.
But, he had some more high priority tasks, than this baseless worry. He had lot to unpack from today's party and he would have to be level headed to do that. And, also have more information about his old man's thoughts.
Speaking of information, he needed Woojin for that. His eyes lazily roamed around the blindingly lit banquet Hall, trying to find his secretary.
Seo Woojin, Wang Hyuk's secretary, who followed him since he was a child like a shadow. They practically grew up together. Woojin's father being Old Wang's trusted aide and Woojin being Hyuk's.
Through their strong telepathic connection, a second later, Seo Woojin appeared in front of Wang Hyuk's eyes. While woojin had a playful smile on his face, the person opposite to him had a grim expression, clearly showing his annoyance because of his secretary.
Wang Hyuk didn't say anything, but kept his cold glare on woojin. Woojin almost immediately felt the air surrounding them fall by few degrees. He understood that he is screwed. Knowing Hyuk very well, woojin decided to speed up the process of him getting roasted.
With his all cool smile still on face, " Were you searching for me, Sir Wang? " Woojin asked, his voice on guard and careful. His eyes trying to search for answers, not knowing what pissed off Wang Hyuk again.
By now, he could feel his whole body turning into jelly because of the anxiety creeping up his spine with the chills he felt. Hyuk was always impossible to read, yet woojin was still trying to figure something out from his face and replaying all the things he did today, that could've possibly upset Hyuk.
Wang Hyuk didn't respond back, not knowing this few silent seconds felt like hours to his poor secretary. Woojin's mischievous self slowly faded away, facing the ice block ahead.
His eyes widened when the realization finally hit.
How could he forget the words of his boss?
Hyuk didn't like to be left alone for a long time in such parties. Something about being disgusted and bored and about to hurl his guts.
Hyuk being alone for long in these parties means, he would be angry and an angry Wang Hyuk won't do anyone any good.
Of course, he is smart enough to not show any negative emotions in the party, but that meant Woojin would be the unfortunate victim of his impending anger, because they practically are attached at hip. With his eyes still widened, woojin bit his lips, his whole body stiff like a rod.
Watching woojin turning rigid, Wang Hyuk could say woojin realised his mistake. " Didn't I tell you to not leave my side? " He questioned, his cold voice with an indifferent tone passed through woojin's ears. But, a smirk was threatening to break out on his face.
Anxious butterflies swarmed his stomach, Woojin gulped down his saliva, surely knowing what happens if he answered.
" Well... You see, my father took me to greet old master. Maybe, he wanted to have a good look at me, after all, its been 6 years. Did you need me for anything? What is it? " He rambled on.
Wang Hyuk eyed him suspiciously, " It better be it. I don't think you need me to remind you who you work under." Hyuk spoke sternly, with his body straightened.
Listening his Hyuk's not so warm yet not so cold words, Woojin smiled back a little, however he made a mistake amd he'd be damned if Hyuk ever questions his loyalty, "Of course, you don't need to remind me. My father is working for old master, and I work for you. Why? Don't you trust this friend who is with you longer than your own shadow? " His voice hinting hurt in them, he lifted his head up showing his disappointed look.
Honestly, why Woojin try to be an actor or even go do theater. His dramatics would be highest grocers and people would definitely want to see this kind of drama.
Any slight inconvenience and Woojin flies into this instinct of playing a dramatic damsel in distress trying to attain his safe place by Hyuk's side. It was both borderline entertaining and annoying.
Sighing heavily, Wang Hyuk felt his headache increase because of the harsh lighting and his best friend's attempt to milk sympathy. He wanted to throw in his own dialogues and maybe a bit of acting, but this isn't a place to show off their friendship, every step and every breath is under watch here and they need to be alert more than ever.
Not knowing how to dismiss, he just settled on warning him to be careful, "Watch what you say," Saying that, he extended his hand towards woojin.
Appearances were a big thing in the circle and definitely to Old Wang.
Words weren't needed to tell him why Hyuk extended his hand, he immediately took out a golden card from his pant pocket and handed it over to Hyuk.
Ring~ ring~ Wang Hyuk's phone began ringing while he stuffed the golden room card in his pockets.
A troubled look clouded his handsome features, as if he knew who the caller is, even before he saw the caller ID. Hyuk simply looked at Woojin, and took his phone out of his pocket to answer the call.
Signalling his secretary with his eyes, to which Woojin responded with a polite nod and put some distance between them, Hyuk didn't stay there for another second and turned towards the elevator direction to get to his room.
" I heard you came back, " The other person in phone said in a leveled but assertive tone.
To that, Hyuk only needed to reply with a short sentence, " Like you didn't know. "
The answer was a screeching squeal. from the person on the other side. Yeah, he could definitely have a massive headache by the end of all this. Hyuk could feel the happiness through the phone. " That's good. I thought you couldn't make it this time. Too bad, I couldn't meet you today, " He exclaimed, the voice going from excited to disappointment.
Wang Hyuk knew the opposite person is being true, so in an attempt of comfort, "You can meet me whenever, sweety."
