Chapter 53 - Chapter 53- Fight Back

Both female vampire's footsteps are barely audible against the cacophony as the clash of the vampires and the mercenaries echoed through the castle. Cassandra and Emma hurried together down the castle's halls. Both female vampires were on their way to their respected rooms as their minds are racing, with their objective being to arm themselves against this unexpected attack and to help the clan as best as they can.

"How did this happen Emma? How did that Decker get so powerful?". Cassandra's voice carried a mix of frustration and concern.

Emma, her senses finely attuned, replied with a trace of unease "I'm not entirely certain, but there is an unmistakable darkness and malevolence emanating from that vampire. Do you think we should go back and help them; I don't think Decker and the people he came with will attack our family and not be confident in destroying us" Emma said in a worrying tone of voice.

The sisters quickened their pace, their determination to protect their clan igniting a fierce resolve within them "Who would have thought that Decker will have the audacity to attack the Crimson clan. First, we arm ourselves and slaughter as many of these bastards as we can". Cassandra declared.

Emma nodded in agreement, her eyes reflecting the same steely determination "I am with you sister, let us do everything in our power our defend our clan"

As both female vampires reached the end of the expansive hall of this huge castle, they took a sharp right, running down another corridor. After a few minutes of running, they saw one of the castle's vampire knights engaged in a fierce battle an enemy. They both looked at ach other and simultaneously nodded their heads in unison.

Emma then took the lead. She quickly shouted "Knight, move out the way"

The vampire knight quickly looked back towards Emma and did what he was told by stepping aside to give her space. Closing the distance with incredible speed, Emma gracefully slid on her back, her feet striking the man's legs with precision. The force of her kick caused the man to lose his balance and crash to the ground. The man was shocked when he hit the ground and before he could lift himself up, Cassandra already made her move. She swiftly moved behind his back, both her hands grabbed his head and she snapped his neck effortlessly.

The vampire knight, grateful for the assistance, bowed respectfully "Thank you for your aid, Lady Emma and Lady Cassandra"

"Do not mention it. How did the enemy breach the castle so quickly?" Cassandra inquired; her voice laced with urgency

"This one does not know my Lady. It all happened in an instant. I heard that the guards on the roof was silently taken out by a dark figure."

Both Cassandra and Emma both exchanged a knowing glance "Decker" they said in unison.

"Knight, make your way to assist the children in their escape. Also, eliminate any enemy you encounter" Cassandra commanded

"Yes, my Lady," the vampire knight acknowledged, before swiftly departing to carry out his orders.

Both Cassandra and Emma pressed on, resuming their sprint towards their destination. When they swung opened the door that leads to another section of the castle, chaos greeted their eyes. The air crackled with the clash of swords, everywhere they turned, the vampires fought valiantly and would have defeated the enemy if they did not have the advantage of special armor.

Cassandra and Emma surveyed the grim scene, their eyes taking in the multitude of lifeless bodies strewn across the floor, both humans and vampires alike. The battle is fierce but looking at the situation it was evident that the vampires had the advantage. Further, their extensive training and discipline gave them the advantage against the enemy mercenaries. It was still a tough battle for both parties. The struggle was far from over, with both sides locked in a grueling clash.

Emma's gaze fell upon the fallen vampire knights, their swords discarded amidst the chaos, she bent down and picked up two swords that were from the fallen vampire knights that fell in battle.

"Sister, it is going to take too long to reach our chambers, let us make use these knights' swords". She suggested, Emma then handed Cassandra a sword "Here, take it"

Cassandra nods her head and accepted the offered sword. "Let us dispatch these wretched bastards". She affirmed; her voice steely.

Both armed with newfound weapons, the sisters step forward to assist the other vampire knights. Cassandra and Emma engaged the enemy with lethal grace. The clash of steel resonated through the air as they fought side by side.

On the lower part of the floor Elena and Haven was in a fierce battle with four merciless mercenaries. Luckily these mercenary men did not have the special armor that Kilo possessed. However, the armor they wore was definitely not cheap.

Elena's lithe form whirled through the chaos, her every movement infused with deadly grace. With a sudden burst of energy, she gave one of the mercenary men who had brown leather a vicious kick sending him crashing into a row of cabinets The impact shattered glass and sent debris flying through the air. with a resounding thud.

Unfortunately, victory was fleeting for Elena. In a blink of an eye, another man seized the opportunity for surprising attack where he stabbed his sword through her back. The room fell into a momentary hush. Broken only by Elena's ragged breaths.

The abdominal area of the vampire maid's clothes was dyed red. The mercenary man that stabbed her from behind tried to split her body in half by pulling the sword upwards. But with fierce resolve, she clutched the sword that was poking out of her stomach, preventing the man from deal the fatal blow.

Haven who was busy fighting two people saw her friend in trouble "No, Elena"

With remarkable display of agility, she deftly evaded the attacks of the two mercenaries she had been contending. Afterwards, she swiftly made her way to the man who stabbed Elena through the back.

The man who stabbed Elena were too preoccupied, he remained fixated on finishing off Elena and did not know that an angry vampire was coming his way. He wanted to kill Elena as soon as possible but before he could act, Haven came from behind and gave him an explosive kick, a surge of power that connected with bone-shattering force against the man's side, breaking his ribs and leaving him gasping for air.

Haven then used the opportunity to pull out the sword that was lodged in Elena's. She gazed at Elena's, etched with concern on her face "Are you okay"

Elena grabbed her stomach, she manages to faint a smile "I am fine, thank you Haven" her voice was laced with gratitude. Haven then offered the sword to Elena. But Elena shook her head "No, I think its more useful in your hands"

Elena then turned her attention to the man that she kicked earlier into the cabinets who finally got his composure back. Her gaze pierced through him like a blade. Time seemed to slow down as they both looked at each other. Elena's calm façade belaying the tempest of fury that raged inside her heart. Without wasting anymore time she decided to bolt towards his direction.

Meanwhile, Haven prepared herself to take on the remaining two mercenaries.

The man had enough time to see Elena charging towards him. He thrusted his sword forward, aiming to impale her face. However, Elena's speed allowed her to dodge the attack. The sword did scrape along her cheek, but the vampire maid was determined to kill her enemy. The nails on her right hand extended like long straight claws that she used to thrust through the man's mouth, killing him instantly. Elena picked up the dead mercenary's sword and made her way to the man Haven had incapacitated by breaking his ribs. The man was still laying on the floor, wincing in pain and could not move his body.

Elena walked over to the man who impaled her from the back. Her facial expression remained calm but the fury burned within her. "Please spare me" the man pleaded.

Elena stood towering over the man, a fierce glint in her eye. She could see the fear etched into his trembling form, his gaze locked onto her mix of terror and resignation.

She looked at him with eyes as calm as the ocean "I do not know if you are brave or stupid" Elena's voice carried chilling resolve, each word dripping with quiet intensity". "But remember this in your next life: do not make the same mistake again". With those words she drove the sword through his chest, his agonized gasp filling the air as his life came to a sudden, brutal end. She withdrew the blade, a spray of crimson staining the steel, and the man crumpled to the ground, lifeless.

While Elena dealt with her adversary, Haven continued her battle with the remaining two mercenaries.

Both men could not kill Haven as she parried each of their attacks with precision and skill, As one of the mercenaries witnessed his partner's demise, anger surges through his veins and fueling his determination. He became angry and decided to leave his partner with Haven while he is headed towards Elena. The thud of his boots echoed through the room as he closed the distance between them. Every fiber of his being focused on delivering a devastating blow

Elena, sensing his approach, calmly prepared herself for the imminent clash. In a display of impeccable timing, the man decided to jump into the air, grabbing his sword with both hands and striking down vertically. With all his might.

However, Elena was prepared, she manages to block the attack. Elena then decided to twist her wrist, she maneuvered her own blade downward, expertly redirecting the man's attack. This caused the man sword to slid off to the side, leaving him exposed and vulnerable for an attack. The room seemed to hold its breath as the two combatants locked eyes for a split second, the air thick with anticipation.

In that fleeting moment, the iris in Elena's eyes began to glow with fiery crimson hue. Without hesitation, she wasted no time sending her enemy to the afterlife where she unleashed a devastating counterattack.

Her sword, guided by a lethal precision, cut through the air with a haunting swiftness. In a single motion, Elena swung her sword with one hand horizontally, through the man's neck, cutting the man's head from his shoulders. A crimson fountain erupted from the gaping wound causing blood to spray in the air like a fountain. She quickly grabbed his shoulders, opened her mouth and drank the warm flesh blood from his lifeless corpse.

While Elena dealt with her adversary, Haven continued her battle with the remaining mercenary. They exchanged blows, , both their swords clashed against each other with intensity. "Looks like we are even" the man said with a grin on his face.

Haven on the other hand has a stern expression "Not even close". Replied, pouring more strength into her attacks. The man struggled to parry each blow, his hands taking a toll from the relentless assault.

After a series of strikes, he could no longer hold on. An ugly grimace twisted his face as he grinds his teeth. Haven's final strike knocked the sword out of his hand, leaving him vulnerable whereby Haven thrusted the sword through his leather armor, straight into his chest. The man had a shocked and scared look on his face as he touched the sword's hilt that was stuck in his chest. He looked at the hilt and then at Haven, blood pouring out of his mouth before he fell backwards, dying instantly.

Haven walked to Elena "How are you feeling".

Elena's whole upper body was covered in the enemy's blood.

The wound that she received on her back had already closed up as a result of her regenerative ability. "I am fine now, thank you for asking" Elena replied

"This attack from these mercenaries was very unexpected. I wonder who the leader of the group is." Haven said in a flat tone of voice

"I wonder if they attacked us because the lord is not here. Do you think our lord is dead and that is why they're attacking us. If so, then John might be…" Elena voice trailed off, filled with concern.

Haven cautioned against jumping to conclusions "Let us not make assumptions without proof just yet. Perhaps they attacked us because our lord is currently away. For now, let us first deal with these intruders and send them to meet their maker. We can ask questions later." Haven then walks back to the man she just killed and pulled the sword from his chest.

"It's time to hunt".
