"Bye kids!" one of the female camp councilors hollered as the school bus left.
It had been eight long fun weeks at the camp and it was also sadly the worst. They weren't allowed to have cell phones at all which was ridiculous and there was still no signal anywhere. All of them were excited to get their phones back but Max was more excited than ever because he finally was able to do something that was way overdue in his mind. Rose was hauling their bags while Stacey the art counselor checked to see how the twenty-five-year-old van was doing. She turned the engine and she smiled as it turned over like it was supposed to do and shut it off again. She popped the hood just in case and checked all the fluids in it.
Stacey was the shortest person there but she had a good head on her shoulders. She had short black hair and beautiful brown eyes. She wore a light green jacket with a white T-shirt and jeans as well as a pair of sneakers. Roy the music counselor strolled up to her with a big grin on his face. Roy had fire red hair and hazel eyes and thin red lips. He was a bit lighter than Stacey but not by much and was six foot two which made him a tower of her small five-foot-even build.
"Hey Rose," Max said softly as he watched her put bags in the car.
"Hey, can you help me out for a second? This bag is really heavy," she stated as he grabbed the bag for her and put it in the trunk of his car.
"So I have something important to ask you," he said nervously as Rose sighed.
"If it's to move out of my parent's house then yes we can I'm so sick of them. Calling up here threatening to call the police for kidnapping me! Ridiculous," she growled annoyed.
"Well, that and if you would marry me," he said as the people outside looked at him shocked.
"I know this is odd since it's here but I don't have friends so I thought I would do it here where I made some. We have also been together for seven years and I just love you a lot… if you say no it's okay I get it. I have been holding off for a long time because I was scared of that but I'm not anymore. I don't know how I could ever live my life without you, you are my rock and you have helped me get threw a lot of painful things over the years. Will you please marry me?" He asked as Rose dropped her bag.
"Maxwell… I could never say no to you not in a million years," she smiled as she helped him up and kissed him.
"Well, finally dude! Kept talking about it for the past two weeks and asking me for advice. I'm a free man, no lady can tame this beast," the British swimming instructor, as well as the lifeguard, said as he was on his phone.
The guy could have walked right out of a magazine, he was fit and extremely good-looking with curly brown hair and chocolate brown eyes. He was five foot seven and had kissable lips that a lot of girls would have died to kiss but Rose. Rose had smacked him across the face hard as soon as he attempted to flirt with her. Rose and Maxwell were a very odd couple and it was strange seeing them together since Rose was way more aggressive than him. She was always there as soon as he started freaking out over something being misplaced or being moved by one of the kids as a joke.
"That's because you are a man slut, Tom!" Casey informed.
Casey loved crafts and archery but since bows were dangerous she only stuck with crafts. She had long blond hair and beautiful blue eyes. She wore a green tank top and short shorts as well as black tennis shoes. She was a blogger and could barely live without her phone especially since her ex-boyfriend Roy was there. She loved flirting with the other guys and tried to flirt with Maxwell just to make him jealous. She even gave Tom a lap dance when it was just the adults up which almost resulted in a fist fight.
"Boo!" Roy yelled trying to scare Stacey but she just rolled her eyes at him.
"Nice try Roy but I don't scare easily," she informed.
"Aww, congratulations guys!" Sofia smiled as she hugged them both tightly.
Sofia was always a ray of sunshine, she loved art and music and she was extremely small for her age. No one believed her when she said she was twenty-one. She looked twelve with and without glasses but she always had her heart in the right place. She had long blond hair and stunning blue-green eyes. She was five foot two and just about eighty-five pounds soaking wet. She wore a short-sleeve blue shirt and black shorts and grew shoes. She had a sun-shaped backpack on that was bright yellow and had a smiley face on it.
"Yeah congrats, still don't understand why you two want to get married. Marriage ruins everything man, I should know. My dad married four times, mom three times," Roy chuckled.
"Hey! They care about each other so leave them alone!" Sofia informed as she put on her black glasses.
"Has anyone seen tall dark and lonely?" Tom asked.
"Jacob should be around here somewhere, I have to go finish getting my bags," Sofia smiled.
"Need some help Sofia?" Tom asked as she looked away awkwardly.
"Um… no thank you I can do it myself," she smiled as she skipped happily to the cabin she was in.
"Hey there campers, you guys all packed up?" Mr. Hence asked.
He was the camp director and made sure everything went smoothly. He went down the stairs and smiled brightly at them. He came down the stairs in his light green shirt and brown shorts with a smile on his face. He handed put people's phones that haven't gotten them yet.
"Finally!" Tom said as Jacob came into view.
He was five foot nine with chocolate brown skin. His hair was black and curly. He had warm brown eyes and wore a long-sleeved red and white shirt with jeans and tennis shoes that were black. He had his headphones in but took them out as soon as he saw Mr. Hence.
"Hey Jacob I need to talk to you I'm in my office, the rest of you make sure you have everything and hurry up before it gets dark," Hence said as Jacob followed him to his office.
Mr. Hence had short blond hair and blue eyes; he was almost in his fifties with two grown children. He was kind and was Jacob's hero to some degree and his best friend. He was trying to find his keys in a hurry but he couldn't find them right away. His office smelled old but was relatively new compared to the rest of the camp. His desk had several papers on it and a gun hung on the wall behind him.
"Am I fired?" He asked as Hence chuckled.
"No Jacob you aren't; I have gotten complaints from some of the parents that the stories you are telling are too scary. Just ease up on the storytelling, I know you don't mean it but the parents don't see it like that," he explained as he started to go threw his desk frantically.
"Oh shit, I'm sorry I will keep that in mind. I didn't mean to get you into trouble," he apologized.
"You didn't but the ghost story of the cave hag you shouldn't tell anymore even though yes it keeps kids out of that cave, I can't have everyone running scared," he informed.
The phone rang and Jacob left the room and closed the door so he could have some privacy. He was going to listen to his podcast but he heard Hence raising his voice out of fear which didn't make any sense at all. Why would he be so afraid? They could drive at night but he had a thing about driving at night. He never drove at night, not that he could remember anyway.
"Yes, they are still here! Look I can't find my fucking keys alright and I'm missing a counselor! I'm not letting her get eaten! It was bad enough our mascot didn't make it but having a councilor missing will bring other police in and we can't have that! I am barely staying afloat here!" He growled.
"I will hurry up; thank God I found them. Make sure you stay safe, see you later," hence said as Jacob moved away from the door and Hence rushed out.
"Come on, let's get the heck out of here now!" He said as they rushed out of the cabin Rose tried to start their car but the engine started smoking.
"Shit!" Rose yelled as she got out of the car.
"Hey it's fine I checked this old-timer we can stuff you guys in here too," Stacey smiled as Roy sighed a bit.
Stacey tried to start her car but it wouldn't turn over at all. She flipped the hood up and looked it over carefully to see if something was wrong with it but she couldn't find anything.
"Need some help?" Max asked as she nodded.
"Yeah… I don't know what the fuck is wrong with it. It was running fine you all saw it was right?" She asked as nodded.
"Looks like a part is missing… the part you need I could get out of my car but I don't think it will fit in this one. Looks like we are stuck here unless we find that rotor arm," he explained.
"Shit! How did it just come off?!" She asked.
"I don't know a mouse could have been in the engine and taken it off. I don't know I have never sent with this before," he explained.
"Can you help me look for it?" she asked.
"Sure, hey Rose do you think you can take out the rotor arm in our car?" Max asked.
"I can't… the cap melted. We won't be able to use it," she explained.
"What's wrong?" Hence asked as Max was looking for the cap with Stacey.
"There is a part missing on our car and my car exploded more or less. It must have overheated," Maxwell informed.
"I told you guys to check this car out every week and drive it around! Shit, Jacob, you are in charge. No one and I means no one leaves the cabins! Lock yourselves in getting it! I will go to town and be back in the morning to get you all. Wolves are out there and they aren't afraid of people," he explained making them all uneasy.
He took off in his car speeding away and the other kids sighed. Sofia looked scared and looked at all of them terrified. She had her bags in her hands but dropped them in shock. She didn't like wolves or any other big scary things out there, she could barely stand the ghost stories Jacob told.
"Wolves?!" she asked terrified.
"There aren't any I promise, I haven't heard a dame thing out here. Well at least not since we have been here," Tom explained.
