Chereads / The Indifferent Luna / Chapter 40 - CHAPTER 40

Chapter 40 - CHAPTER 40

The silver gate of the ring was about to be opened and the winner declared when I stood up as the predator that I was, my eyes were redder than blood.

The cheering crowd grew silent as they all stared at me, and so did my opponent. I gave a maniac smile when I looked at them and wiped the blood from my broken nose, before setting it back in shape like I have been doing it my whole life.

While the crowd gasped at my action, the guy who have been having fun torturing me ran to me, about to throw another punch. I docked without much effort and dug my claws into his stomach.

His eyes widened in surprise and I smiled. It was as if time had stopped as he stared at me while others too stared wondering what was happening, why he had stopped moving but I didn't care, when my hands found what they had been searching for on the inside of him, a feeling of delight ran through me and I pulled it out causing the man to fall on his knees with his hand on his bleeding stomach as his face twisted in unspeakable pain.

The crowd gasped as I looked from him to his intestine that I had pulled out with my hands then with disgust, I pulled the whole thing out totally. By the time I was done he was dead and the whole arena was silent.

The other four men shared surprised glances as they looked at me.

I let the useless intestine in my hands fall to the floor and stepped over his body to face them. I have always wondered what and how I had torn those animals apart, now I am seeing with my own eyes firsthand what my blood lust really was.

The men ran and surrounded me as if in agreement but I had my eyes on the one in front of me, just as they attacked I also quickly ran to him and dug my claws into his neck as deeply as I could, dodging the attacks from the other as I did and kicking them away.

One slashed his long knife and I hid behind the guy whose neck I held and his arm that the knife hit fell off immediately causing blood to splutter around, shocking the attacker. I looked at the arm of the man who was already lifeless in my hands as I felt my claws dig deeper into his neck. I pulled out my hand forcefully and his head rolled off his body and fell at the feet of his comrades.

They looked at it and at me as the blood that spluttered out of his detached body spilled on my face and neck before the headless body fell to the ground.

At the sight of the head, the music in the arena stopped and the look in the eyes of my opponent changed to that of fear, as they stood rooted on the spot staring at the head of the man that had rolled to their feet.

While they were staring, I was choosing my next victim and trying to decide what I would rid him of. I watched his chest rise and fall continuously as he stared at me and I suddenly felt a deep yearning to pluck out his heart. So I went for it.

I ran to him, he slashed twice but I dodged and dug my hand into his chest to take my price. His eyes twisted in horror as I held onto his life force, the others thought it was the right time to attack so they did. I pulled away to dodge their knives and the heart came with me.

They stopped short when they saw what I was holding. I smiled and brought it close to my nose to perceive its scent before I crushed it.

"You monster!" one of them shouted as he attacked me angrily, I dodged but not quick enough, for a deep cut ran through my burnt back, blood flowed quickly and the crowd cheered in excitement as the men smiled wickedly.

I looked at the cut that was bleeding, whose pain I couldn't feel then smiled at the man, his own smile faltered.

He was right. I was a monster. I have always been. I have just been fighting against it.

Now I would show him what a true monster was.

.................................................................

I woke up to the beeping of machines and the throbbing of my head.

"She's awake, mistress." I heard a familiar voice say.

I think it was Selene, Adela walked into my visual field with a worried gaze and held my hand.

"Silveen, are you okay?" she asked as she laid her hands on my forehead. I just stared at her expressionless.

"Do you remember what happened?" she asked again and I looked at her confused for a second before the memory all flooded in.

After I killed those men in cold blood, I made sure to chop off their bodies with their own knives since my enemies had a thing for resurrecting from the dead in my nightmares.

I then tried to break the silver gates open despite the fact they were pure silver, I had only one goal in mind to kill them all, those inside and outside the cage. The shocked crowd who once found joy in the pain of others watched me mutilate the bodies in horror, then watched me as I approached the gate.

They must have thought I was crazy to put my hands on silver that burned and try to force it apart but I didn't feel the pain, the fury and hatred that I felt for them accumulated in my hands like magical powers and soon the metal creaked loudly.

As if they were brought to their senses, the whole crowd fell into a frenzy as everyone began to run for their lives towards the building exit. The space in between the metal was large enough for me to put my hands through and unlock it from the outside and I did just that.

It was a bloody night, many died, and a few were wounded by me before I got drained and fell unconscious at the door of the arena.

I looked up back at Adela and nodded my head slowly.

"I am so sorry Silveen....." Adela began to say but I remembered something or rather someone and my eyes got moist.

"Rieka. Is Rieka alive? They did something to her!" I said amidst tears and Adela furrowed her brow as if she finally understood something.

"I am here Silveen. I am fine." I heard Rieka say in my head and I broke into a smile as tears fell from my eyes.

If she was a physical person, I would have hugged her right now, she doesn't know how happy I am to know she was still alive.

Rieka is alive! My wolf is still with me, that is enough, even if Adela didn't want me here anymore, I don't care. I had Rieka. She was all I needed, I wasn't going to fight it anymore.
