Chapter 41 - His eyes welled up with tears

By plunging into the pool with confidence and serenity upon her face, Emma sent a clear message that if they were not in love, she would not even allow him to touch her hand.

Suddenly water splashed over Richard's face, leaving him bewildered as to why she had done such a thing!

But wait!!

After falling into the pool, Emma realized she didn't know how to swim, and to her dismay, the pool turned out to be 8ft deep.

You fool Richard! Who asked you to build such a deep swimming pool?!

Struggling to regain her balance, Emma found herself in a desperate situation.

Just as she was trying to regain control, Richard swiftly removed his coat and dove into the pool without hesitation.

He swiftly reached out and helped her emerged from the depths.

However, instead of expressing gratitude, Emma's first instinct was to led a hard punch on Richard's chest.

Despite her difficulty in breathing, she found the strength to throw a punch.

Why?

Richard was left astonished, wondering what was going on with her?

Before he could utter a question, Emma poured out her frustration.

"Why did you come? To save me? I can handle myself! You have no right to interfere!", Emma quarreled with him.

" I apologize for my mistake", Richard retorted sarcastically.

"I should have just watched you drown here", he added, his words dripping with bitterness.

" That's right", Emma agreed. Her words laced with a butter sadness.

"Why don't you understand? I don't want you to do anything for me! You should have just left, just as you did three years ago", Emma's words pierced Richard's heart.

Her words echoed in his ears, leaving a lasting impact. Despite being mere words, they struck a chord within him.

His eyes welled up with tears, unable to hide the pain behind his smile any longer.

Tears began to trickle down his handsome face, dampening his long lashes, while his heart ached.

When Emma noticed his tears, she tried to avert her gaze. It was not because she was seething with anger or didn't want to see him, but rather, if she saw him crying, she wouldn't be able to hold back her own tears.
