Chapter 43 - Emma's inner turmoil

"Yuna, it's astonishing how I've been blessed with so much without any real effort. I know I should be grateful, and many people would envy the life I have now. But sometimes I can't help but wonder why I have all this comfort while others may not. Does God truly love all of us equally? Then why do some of us experience abundance while others face struggles?" Emma pondered aloud, getting caught in a web of complex questions.

Feeling concerned for Emma, Yuna hurriedly responded, "Young mistress, please don't think that way. Comparing ourselves to others can make us ungrateful for the blessings we have. I, too, am happy and content. My father has always been a supportive presence in my life, and that brings me joy and comfort."

Emma seemed upset, expressing her longing for lasting peace. Yuna tried to console her once more, asking what had disrupted her peace. Emma fell silent, unsure of how to respond.

As the minutes passed, Yuna gently asked again, "Young mistress, what bothered you about that dress?"

In a hurried reply, Emma explained, "The dress had an open back, and it made me uncomfortable. I can't wear such bold dresses, they're not meant for me."

Yuna was astonished at Emma's self-awareness and modesty. Despite her stunning looks, Emma remained true to her principles and boundaries, embodying what one might call a "lady."

Deep in thought, Yuna marveled at Emma's response. "You know, Young mistress, it's incredible to witness your maturity. Growing up under your Grandpa's guidance has made you intelligent, understanding, and strong."

Emma smiled at Yuna's words, but beneath her radiant exterior, she was still wrestling with indescribable thoughts.

"Young mistress, I'll go and check if the second dress has arrived. If you need anything, just call my name," Yuna said, showing genuine concern for Emma's well-being.

Emma nodded in acknowledgment.

As Yuna left the room, Richard entered and asked, "Aren't you ready yet?"

"Hmm, I've called home to check on the dress; it should have arrived by now," Emma replied, looking at Richard. Her hair was still slightly damp from falling into the pool earlier, and the sudden exposure to water had made her complexion even fairer. She felt a slight chill in her body.

Richard couldn't help but want to embrace her, but he restrained himself. "Alright, I'll have a cup of tea sent to you," he said, looking at her with a desire to comfort her and tell her everything that had happened. However, he realized that it might not be the right time to discuss it.
