(A/N: In an actual kendo tournament, the points are scored by spirit, sword, and body. Spirit makes you have to yell out your intended target. Sword you must strike with the proper part of the shinai, 25cm down from the tip. Finally, body for each strike. You must use your entire body. If you don't do all of them, no point is granted. (S/N: They will start on the line for every point gained.)
When the referee said to begin, Nobuo and Yuri both stood up and began to circle the ring, holding their shinais tightly, waiting for a chance to strike.
"Kote!" Nobuo shouted, slashing his shinai as he used his full body against the wrist of Yuri.
*Clack!
The two shinai clashed, followed by Yuri's shouting, "Hidari Kote!" After parrying Nobuo's shinai, she slashed her shinai at his forearm. (A/N: there are additional areas, but they are all close to or distinct from the four major ones: head, throat, wrist, and torso.)
Referees held up a white flag, signaling that Yuri had gained a point.
With Yuri acquiring a point, they went back to the starting line, crouched, and once again waited for the referee to say begin.
"Begin."
They stood up like before, holding their shinais at each other, waiting for an opening.
Yuri found one and shouted, "Men!" and slashed her shinai at Nobuo's head. Nobuo parried with his shinai and went for her wrist as he shouted, "Kote!"
Hitting her wrist, The three referees did a fast criss-cross below their hip, which meant the point was not valid, and Nobuo's point was removed, making the score still 0-1.
Without a valid point, the match continued as Nobuo moved back, avoiding Yuri's hit.
As they now stood two shinai lengths apart, Yuri shouted "Kote!" and slashed her shinai at Nobuo's wrist.
*Clack!
Nobuo blocked and gained an opening, so he shouted, "Migi-Do!" and slashed Yuri's from the left, hitting Yuri's waist.
After the hit, three referees held up their red flags, signaling he won the point, bringing the match to a draw, and whoever won this last match would be the winner and get to move on to the next round.
Yuri and Nobuo once again crouched on the starting line, waiting for the referee's signal.
"Begin."
They stood up, holding their shinais at each other, waiting for one to make an opening. That opening soon came as Yuri shouted, "Hidari Men!" and slashed at the side of Nabuo's head.
*Clack!
Nabuo redirected her shinai and shouted, "Kote!" He slashed his shinai at her wrist.
Two referees held up a red flag, signaling the end of the match with Henmi Nobuo being the winner.
Both Yuri and Nabuo bowed toward each other and left the square, heading back to where the rest of their team was.
'That's good that we won the first match,'
Amelia thought, as she looked at the screen that had the ranking system with Hemni Nobuo going up to the next round.
The woman that announced the first match got up to the podium with her microphone in hand and said, "The second match will be Harbor View High, Kōichi Kimura, versus Broad River High, Akira Nakan."
Two men from both sides entered the square, bowed and crouched at the starting line with their shinais in hand, waiting for the referees to say begin.
"Begin."

The match ended with Akira Nakano having two points while Kōichi Kimura had one. Akira Nakano was moved up to fight against Henmi Nobuo in the next round.
The two opponents bowed to each other and went to their own teams, as the announcer went up to the podium and said, "The second match will be Harbor View High, Amelia versus Broad River High, Tatsuya Yoshida."
Amelia and Yoshida entered the square, bowed and crouched at the starting line, holding their shinais towards each other, waiting for the referee to say begin.
Seeing that Yoshida was looked at her lustfully and arrogantly, which couldn't be shown to anyone else with his helmet covering his face, Amelia felt disgusted and thought, 'I'll give him a punishment that'll take affect later on, since I don't want to get disqualified.'
"Begin."
