Chapter 28 - Amelia versus Isla (1)

They stayed like this for the next 5 minutes, and stopped after that. They changed into their school uniforms and headed back to the kendo room, but before they entered the room, they turned around to look at each other.

"You remember the wager, right?" Isla asked.

"Yes."

"That's good, but don't go easy on me just because we are lovers. It would ruin the fun of the tournament." Isla smiled.

"I know. I won't."

"Good." Isla leaned in for a kiss, and like many times before, Amelia accepted wholeheartedly.

This time they didn't kiss the insides of each other's mouths but did a normal kiss, not even sticking the tongue out. They parted their lips several seconds later, looking at each other affectionately.

"Good luck," Isla said, smiling.

Amelia nodded, "Same to you."

In a competition such as this, you wouldn't say good luck to your opponent, but in this case, where the two opponents were lovers, they said it anyway, as it felt right to say such things.

They parted from each other and entered the kendo room, before going their separate ways to their respective teams. When Amelia arrived at her team, she found out that most of her team were there besides a few students, so she sat on the bench she sat at before.

A male team member with short brown hair and brown eyes walked up to Amelia and said, "Good luck against Isla."

Raising her head, Amelia replied, "Thanks." and smiled.

The male student wanted to say something, but when she saw that the goddess of this school smiled at him, his mind went blank, while his face flushed completely red.

'The only problem with being the goddess of the school is that boys lose the ability to talk with just a smile, while most girls become overly nervous and blush.' Amelia thought, seeing the man's flushed face.

He didn't know what to say anymore, so he left, trying to regain his composure. Once he was with the other team members, he glanced back with a feeling of accomplishment in his heart, since he was able to exchange a few words with the goddess of the school.

Five minutes had passed, and it was now time for the finals of the tournament to begin.

The woman who had announced the matches earlier got up from her chair and stepped up to the podium. "We've finally reached the end of this tournament, the final match that'll decide the winner of this tournament."

She took a breath and continued, "Let's not wait anymore time and begin with the final round. The last match will be Harbor View High, Amelia, versus Broad River High, Isla."

With the kendo gear on, Isla and Amelia walked to the square with their shinai in hand. Upon entering the square, they bowed to each other and knelt at the starting line.

'Let's use our godly speed and strength like last time, but we should give the spectators a temporary ability so they can see us fight.' Isla said.

'Sure.'

Isla granted all the spectators a temporary skill that granted them godly vision. Their eyes glowed with a faint pink hue.

All the spectators didn't notice their eyes glowing pink; to them, it was unnoticeable. Even if they inspected each other's eyes for ten minutes, they wouldn't see anything.

"Begin," said the head referee.

They both stood up simultaneously and pointed their shinais at each other, waiting for their opponent to make the first move.

"Tsuki!" Amelia thrust her shinai at Isla's neck, producing a strong wind current that struck the barrier protecting the surroundings.

*Bang!

Isla deflected the shinai and shouted, "Kote!" and swung her shinai at Amelia's right wrist.

*Bang!

With Amelia's faster speed, she was able to redirect Isla's attack and shouted, "Migi Do!" She swung her shinai at Isla's right torso.

The attack hit, with Isla being unable to block in time since her speed was slower than Amelia's. All three referees held up their red flags, making the point valid.

'That was good.' Isla said.

No one noticed the wild wind currents created with each swing they made as it was blocked by the barrier, and with their hair being covered by the helmet, their hair wasn't going wild enough to rouse any suspicion.

They both crouched at the starting line, waiting for the referee to say begin.

"Begin."
