Chapter 10 - Could that be respect?

Laughter erupts all around. Even the Beta is laughing.

The Alpha's meal hahaha

I join them with smiles and I look at Zee with an arched eyebrow. Then I seat regally back on the floor.  

June introduces herself and we are done with that segment of the party.

The matron clears her throat. well, that has been certainly entertaining. She looks at me with a light in her eyes, could that be respect? the expression is gone before I could say for certain. Now we are going to have a little competition, The winners of this communication get an advantage in the game for tomorrow. There can only be four winners. As for what the competition tonight is, I won't specify. Be on your toes Ladies, anything and everything tonight could be it. 

She chuckled as she finishes the last part.

Just when I thought of relaxing.

Time for food.

Servers bustle about serving food and drinks. they are omegas, of course, that is how it is in all packs. But there is something different about these omegas, they seem happy. I see them cheerfully sharing food. The omegas were never happy in my pack. I would know because I was treated like them. One cheerful omega stopped in front of us.

What would you like missus?

I smile at her, she may have noticed the emotions swelling on my face, because she asked.

is everything okay ma'am?

I mask my expression. everything is fine. thank you for asking. I would like to have some of those lobsters and chocolate cake.

what about drinks?

Plain water will be just fine. Thank you

You are welcome. She turns to take June's order.

Not too long after the steaming dishes are placed in front of us.

I took the liberty to remove the shells for you.

I take one look at the steaming dishes in front of me before I attack them with gusto. oh my gosh, oh my gosh. I have fantasized about eating lobsters but they are even more delicious than I could imagine. So tasty.

After I had cleared my meal. I drink a lot of water, then I settle down to eat my chocolate cake ever slowly. That's it. I am ruined. I could never return to the way I used to eat again.  

When everyone was done eating. The servers gathered our plates and disposed of them. Then they returned to the clearing.

I notice the matron exchange looks with the Beta and he nods.

It's now time to announce who the winners of tonight are.

Exclamations and gasps fill the air. And she silences them all with a look. She gestures to the servers and we all turn to look at them. Then the most astonishing thing happens. They release their auras and they are in no way Omegas. The least ranked wolf in their midst was a Beta, even that Beta was powerful. Just how powerful is this pack?

Ladies, meet the rest of the Elites. Please withdraw your auras and they went back to being omegas once more.

This is why they have remained the uncontested leaders in our country.

Murmurs rise in the air.

Our pack's ability to hide our ranks is not something that is exactly a secret. The aim of me showing you this is to teach you the first lesson of a Luna. It has come to my knowledge that because you thought they were omegas most of disregarded them and only 3 of you were polite and only 1 amongst the 3 was nice. Now listen up. As a Luna of this pack, you have become a mother to all and you will not disregard a member of the pack regardless of rank. Do I make myself clear?

A Luna is kind and compassionate and she is also Brave and bold. During your introduction, only 2 of you were able to differentiate yourselves from the rest. That boldness and initiative are qualities we seek in our Luna. Now if I call your name, you stand.
