Chapter 9 - Crazy Or Witch?

Alex

After I had the raw steak which the human was so graciously able to contribute, I went to curl up on the deep blue rug my wounds still stinging. I needed to stop moving around so much so I could heal quicker and decided on taking a nap.

However, a voice startled me awake and my eyes spring open to reveal a woman in long dark clothing and long dark hair and big wire glasses talking animately to the human.

"Verity, I'm telling you!" The woman shouts throwing her hands up.

"I'm going to the bathroom!" The human whose name I'm guessing is Verity shouts.

"Can I say hello?" The human who woke me up asks.

I was assuming she meant me and I grumble but don't move an inch as Verity shouts a 'yes but be nice!' as my werewolf ears were able to pick up.

The lady approaches me cautiously and she kneels beside me.

As soon as our eyes met a shot rang through me and I inhaled deeply. She knows. I felt intense magic swirling around her all animating from the simple yet powerful pendant laying across her neck. Witches know when werewolves are near and werewolves could feel when witches were close.

"I know who you are Alex Moon. I know what you are." She starts and my blood runs cold.

"I want to help you, but you need to know something. Verity was bitten, on a full moon. But she is not what you think. She doesn't even know what she is. Listen, this is very importan-"

"What are you two troublemakers up to?" Verity asks out her voice seeming to boom out in the echoey room.

"N-nothing." The witch says and then leans in closely when Verity turns around to busy herself in the kitchen.

"Verity will change by the peak of the full moon tonight, I feel it. You should feel it too. You need to take her to your pack and hope and pray the poor girl survives." The witch whispers.

"Stop being weird to the wolf Kelly." Verity says.

Kelly fell silent and looks directly into my eyes before she spins around and straightens her stance to say a farewell to Verity before she abruptly walks out the backdoor.

I'm confused. I don't smell anything about Verity other than human.

And that lovely smell of cinnamon I can't seem to shake out of my nose or my head.

If Verity isn't human...

Then, what is Verity?

I didn't have long to ponder as Verity comes over to me with another plateful of raw steak and I happily gobble it up as she talks both my ears off about Kelly and her weird habits of always being near her cabin all the time.
