Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

"Dinosaur, also called as (clade Dinosauria), the common name given to a group of reptiles, often very large, that first appeared roughly 245 million years ago and thrived worldwide for nearly 180 million years. Most died out by the end of the Cretaceous Period, about 66 million years ago, but many lines of evidence now show that one lineage evolved into birds about 155 million years ago"

"The earliest appearance of "true dinosaurs" is almost impossible to pinpoint, since it can never be known with certainty whether the very first specimen of any kind of organism has been found. The succession of deposits containing fossils is discontinuous and contains many gaps; even within these deposits, the fossil record of dinosaurs and other creatures contained within is far from complete. Further complicating matters is that evolution from ancestral to descendant form is usually a stepwise process. Consequently, as more and more gaps are filled between the first dinosaurs and other archosaurs, the number of features distinguishing them becomes smaller and smaller. Currently, paleontologists define dinosaurs as Triceratops birds and all the descendants of their most recent common ancestor. That common ancestor apparently had a suite of features not present in other dinosaur relatives, including the loss of the prefrontal bone above the eye, a long deltopectoral crest on the humerus, three or fewer joints on the fourth finger of the hand, three or more hip vertebrae, a fully open hip socket, and a cnemial crest on the shin bone. These features were passed on and modified in the descendants of the first dinosaurs. Compared with most of their contemporaries, dinosaurs had an improved stance and posture with a resulting improved gait and, in several independent lineages, an overall increase in size. They also were more efficient at gathering food and processing it and apparently had higher metabolic rates and cardiovascular nourishment. All these trends, individually or in concert, probably contributed to the collective success of dinosaurs, which resulted in their dominance among the terrestrial animals of the Mesozoic."

As the teacher keep on blabbing about the history of the dinosaur while showing off various images, I on the other hand, almost dropping my eyes off. The truth is, I am really not into history or any kind of historical topics. Not because they aren't a bit interesting they're also boring and dull. Who in their right mind will listen to that kind of story whereas it happened a million years ago. Did they saw how dinosaur hunt, live and survive? All of those nonsense are pure theories and bullshit. Why would they ever want to know about those creatures whom are out of existence.

"Originally applied to just a handful of incomplete specimens, the clade Dinosauria now encompasses more than 800 generic names and at least 1,000 species, with new names being added to the roster every year as the result of scientific explorations around the world. Not all of these names are valid taxa, however. A great many of them have been based on fragmentary or incomplete material that may actually have come from two or more different dinosaurs. In addition, bones have sometimes been misidentified as dinosaurian when they are not from dinosaurs at all. Nevertheless, dinosaurs are well documented by abundant fossil remains recovered from every continent on Earth, and the number of known dinosaurian taxa is estimated to be 10–25 percent of actual past diversity"

"The extensive fossil record of genera and species is testimony that dinosaurs were diverse animals, with widely varying lifestyles and adaptations. Their remains are found in sedimentary rock layers (strata) dating to the Late Triassic Epoch (approximately 237 million to 201.3 million years ago). The abundance of their fossilized bones is substantive proof that dinosaurs were the dominant form of terrestrial animal life during the Mesozoic Era. It is likely that the known remains represent a very small fraction of all the individual dinosaurs that once lived"

"Two years before the Maidstone Iguanodon came to light, a different kind of skeleton was found. It was described and named Hylaeosaurus and later proved to be one of the armoured dinosaurs. Other fossil bones began turning up: fragments described and named as Thecodontosaurus and the first of many skeletons named Plateosaurus. Having carefully studied most of these fossil specimens, it is recognized that all of these bones represented a group of large reptiles that were unlike any living varieties"

As she continues, I slowly closed my eyes. Not minding every noises around me and started to travel into my own dream land.

********

When I open my eyes, the first thing I saw is a very wide and green horizon. It is peculiar and abundant mixed with colorful flowers and cool breeze. The scenery is one of a kind like it is made out of a portrait. Beautiful and amazing.

I slowly trail the path infront of me. Following the road to the unknown. I feel at ease like I am floating into the air. Peaceful and quiet. I've never once experience this kind of feeling. Refreshing.

I continue my walk while looking sideways and sometimes stop to wonder the unusual view that no one ever seen until the bright sun was covered by a dark cloud.

"Is it going to rain?"

Looking above, a drop of water hit my cheek. One after another until it becomes a millions of colorless arrows. The loud sound of thunder and lightning are so scary. I started to ran. Looking for a place to shelter on. But an hour later, I failed. This place is like a mountain side. Even how fast and far I ran, I see no sign of human life. No roof or fire. No hut or shed. I'm soaked and cold. My body started to shiver and my knees started to hurt. My old injury. I keep on walking as I hug myself trying to produce heat while rubbing both my shoulder.

"Help.. I'm cold"

My voice is as mostly cracked. While I try to stay focused on finding anything to shelter on from the rain. Then suddenly, a voice speak out of my head.

'Zhing... My Zhing'

I turn around looking for the owner of it. At last, there's still hope. A human voice.

'My Zhing...'

The voice is as calm as the sea but with a deep sorrow. It mostly likely similar to the soaring rain.

'I am here'

"Where are you? Please help me"

However, even how loud I tried to shout and how much I look for that voice, I see nothing but darkness and endless waterflow.

'My Zhing... don't leave me'

The voice keep on calling the same name. Even though I never know who that person is, or what kind he is as long as I will be save, I am fine.

"I couldn't find you"

With the water keeps on dripping into my cold body and the sound of the rain that feels like will never cease, I stop. My feet are no longer be able to hold on as the pain in my knees keeps on increasing, I fell into the ground.

'My Zhing.... you promise to never give up'

'Love... never give up'

I tried to maintain my sanity and senses. Holding a glimpse of hope from that voice. This dream is terrible.

With my shaking hands and numb arms I stood up. Though, my vision are started to get blurry, I still took a step forward and march.

"I... will never.... give....up"

My steps are too slow but still it feels like a great accomplishment. It's hard and tiring yet it gives me pride. I must survive even in my own dream.

Until then, I saw a cave not far way from me. The distance is nearly 35 meters. I can make it. I should make it. I will make it.

Dragging myself into the cave, I finally reached it. And before everything went black, the voice came back that gives me a warm feeling of success.

'You did well, My Zhing'
