Location: Glyswing Training Institute
Time: 4:34am
Red light pulses from the windows of the building. It was all due to the warning ringing out as it was almost time for sunrise. The halls are completely empty save for a few lingering people who were hot on their heels to run into their respective dorm rooms. The hallways are painted red with the pulsing warning light. An automated voice rang through the entire building through speakers positioned at every corner of the place.
[This is a warning. Please steer clear of the windows. It is for your safety.]
[Please stay behind the yellow lines. This is a safety measure.]
An old woman steadily guides her way across the hallway, the red light constantly pulsing as she does. She looked around, even as her senses were fine, it was still a bit along the mediocre side so she could barely see as she walked. She was only adjusting to her new life in the institute as we see now. She looked about 70.
[It is dangerous. Please proceed to your room immediately]
A figure passes behind her, walking past her. But it stops and turns back at her.
"Maude?"
The old woman looked up, brightening up immediately when she got a good look at the person before him.
"Oh, Noam!"
"Oh dear, you should be in your room now. What are you still doing out here?"
"It's…quite hard to see."
"Don't act that way," Noam teased, bending down to her height, "We all know everything's fine now, were you just waiting for me?"
"Ohohoh, you caught me."
"Come, let me take you back to your room."
"Oh, Noam. You're such a gentleman."
"Hey!" Another voice erupts and the two of them turn around.
Shit, is it the supervisor?
"What are you guys still doing here?"
Noam relaxed to find that it was just his friend, Lex. Lex approached them, still in his institute uniform but with his collars flicked up. It was a horrible fashion decision but he seemed to think it was cool and paraded everywhere in such a state.
"Maude was just flirting with me."
"Oh! You!" Maude laughed, touching Noam's arm. Noam was a pretty tall man with long straight silver hair that fell up to his waist. He seemed to be in his twenties when he turned so he was still at his prime, and would stay that way forever. He glanced at his wristwatch anxiously as Maude laughed on.
"Dude, that's gross. She's old." Lex's face scrunched up, a sharp tooth peeking from the corner of his lip. He was not one with tact and did not seem to hold back with his words.
The laugh on Maude's face immediately fell and she glared at the other young man. Lex, oblivious to the hateful scorn, simply yawned, scratching the back of his head. He was no shorter than Noam and seemed about the same age with ginger hair and freckles muttered across his face, which contributed largely to why they were friends in the first place in a place like this.
"Lex, would you mind showing Maude back to her room?"
Lex frowned, a disgusted look on his face, "Whatever, man. Will you stop treating her like your grandmother? We all know she's not really old old. She can find her way back." He turned to the old lady who was evidently offended now, "And Maude, stop that. Nobody's buying that act. If you wanted to play the old person card, why did you even turn?"
"Save it, Lex. We don't need another attempted murder in the dorms again. Time's ticking, just lead her back for me, will you?"
"Now where are you off to? It's almost sunrise."
"I got…to..uhh...get to my pet."
"Pet?" Lex smirked, stuffing his hands inside his pants, "It's that mutt, isn't it?"
Noam frowned disapprovingly, "Mutt is a strong word, I don't like that."
"Whatever. Must be quite a burden, seeing what you have to put up with."
"Hmmm." His leg tapped impatiently as he took another look at his watch, "It's a duty."
"Can't believe a dog has been allowed into the place. Next we know, they are swarming all through every institute you can find. We can't be lenient to the likes of them." Maude commented, making both of them freeze on the spot. Take it from the old lady to be that harsh and borderline discriminatory.
"Okay, just send her back, i am leaving." Noam distractedly slapped Lex's shoulder before he turned, jogging off.
[Step back, stay behind the line. This is a safety warning.]
Lex sighed as he watched Noam disappear and turned to his side, noticing that Maude was smiling up at him expectantly. Sighing, he turned away.
Metal barriers were being drawn down and had almost covered all the openings of the buildings as Noam ran through the dorm building. He walked the path he knew too well, anxiousness strangely running through him. Would he reach there in time? Is he already too late?
Skidding to a stop, he stood in front of the familiar door. Room 801
He took a deep breath and knocked on the door.
Silence.
He frowned and knocked again. Two times. Then a third.
When silence met him again, he grabbed the handle and twisted it. The door was open and it gave away easily. His head peeked in first, the lights were off and the entire room was shrouded in darkness. His feet shuffled against the carpet as he took a cautious step into the room.
"Ren?" He called out and when he didn't receive a reply back, he cursed internally.
He's gone. Again.
He sighed, deciding that since he was here, he might as well take a look around. Wait for him here. He reached for the switch and the lights blinked on. A frustrated groan immediately erupted from the other side of the room and Noam turned in surprise.
A tan, muscular body lay on his stomach, tangled with the sheets and sprawled out on the bed. His head turned away from the light and he tried to snuggle into a more comfortable position in order to fall back asleep. But sleep wasn't happening.
"Ren!" Noam lit up, and immediately jumped on the bed, right on top of the body. A surprised 'Oof' escaped from underneath him and the body moved, groaning at the sudden impact. A hand grabbed Noam by the arm, easily scooping up the large body and immediately pushed him off.
"I deserved that." Noam muttered, rubbing his arm.
The face turned over, facing Noam who was on the ground now. Soren squinted, rubbing his eyes to drive the sleepiness away. Noam smiled, leaning forward to rest his chin on the edge of the bed. He watched Soren stretch himself, cracking his joints with a glad exhale following it. Soren was not like him. He was warm, tanned because he went out in the sun, had a tangled mess of hair and a completely adorable features, well, not everyone would call it adorable because he was constantly scowling and chasing them away but Noam found it impossibly cute.
"Good morning, love."
"Hmmm…" Soren groaned, stretching his arms out, "Morning."
He had barely gotten up when Noam came over, wrapping his arms around him tightly.
"What's this?" Soren chuckled, draping a hand around Noam as he supported them with the other hand.
"I just thought you'd gone out again."
"Well, certainly not after last morning."
Noam's body rumbled in laughter as he pushed Soren down. He watched him fall, his dark hair fluffing down against the pillow. A naughty grin spread across his sly face as he pulled his shirt over his head and a sound of protest immediately came from Soren, who was shaking his head.
Noam smiled, bending down to kiss Soren's jaw even as the latter tried to push him off, "What?"
"God, I'm still sore from last morning, are you kidding?"
"I don't see a problem," Noam mumbled, trapping Soreen between his legs, a mischievous light shining in his gray eyes, "My boyfriend's looking delectable now and I am eating him up."
"I am anything but! Now lay off, this–" Soren gestured over his body, "This is out of bounds in the morning."
"Hmmm, that only makes me want to eat you more." Noam hummed even as he allowed Soren to push him off. He rested his head on his elbow, watching Soren pad across the room in his naked glory.
Yes, that was his boyfriend. All his.
