Chapter 4 - 04. After Ten Years

"Woah."

Soren stopped himself as Reya jumped in front of him, immediately blocking the view in front of him. He glared at his superior, feeling the anger bubbling out of him. His instincts were blaring like a warning siren and he knew that there was only one way to shut it up.

"What are you doing?" Reya hushed him, forcing him to straighten up.

Whatever has overcome Soren, his eyes were turning icy blue and his fangs were lengthening, as his sneer became more wolf-like. He was turning unconsciously as he slowly lost his senses to the overwhelming flow of anger.

"Handle yourself." Reya muttered, pushing Soren back into the shadows as the client approached.

"Night Secure?" A deep earthy voice spoke up behind them.

Soren switched from Reya to the masked man in front of them. He wasn't wrong. It was him. He could have detected that scent anywhere and even if he was at the brink of death, he would recognize that scent anywhere. He was there, in flesh. The very reason that Soren hadn't died yet, the very reason to keep on living, the very reason that his heart was filled with black up to the brim. Right in the face of this scum, Soren realised that nothing much has changed. He growled in a low threatening tone at the man before them as Reya looked back and forth between the two, almost flustered. What was happening?

"Yes, it's us. Are you Client 1042?" Reya turned his attention to the man.

He couldn't read what the man was thinking. Vampires were already hard to read but this man was suited up to cover himself. He meant it when he had listed the fact that he wanted to be anonymous. Black mask and black sunglasses shielding his pale back and stood in stark contrast against his greyish skin tone. Even at this sweltering heat, he was wearing a black turtleneck underneath his long black coat as the only part visible of him was his sharp angular jaw. Reya's senses tingled and he could sense that even behind his sunglasses, the man was staring intensely towards their direction.

"Pardon the inconvenience, it seems that my partner is not feeling well. If you will, please excuse—"

"No," The deep voice cut through, his face set straight towards Soren.

Soren wasn't looking any better, his nose had already morphed into a wolf's nose and hair was jutting out unnaturally at the sides of his face even as he fought Reya's arms which was keeping him in place.

Fucking bastard, Soren tried to push Reya's arm off of him. He did this on purpose, didn't he? He was assigned to his role for a reason. He probably asked for him. He was provoking him clearly. He was here to flaunt his fucking face and spit on him. That's what Vampires do. They ruin you and then sit on their high and mighty throne as they laughed at your pain. It was apparently not enough for him that he put Soren through that, he has to watch him suffer. But Soren was determined that he would never allow that. His past was not going to be a show for some snickering Vampire.

"He's not sick," The man said, slowly reaching up for his sunglasses. Reya frowned at him as the client took off his glasses and slowly looked up, a pair of grey glass eyes staring at them. It looked striking and almost menacing.

"What?" Reya asked, filled with confusion. This wasn't exactly looking like the stress free time he was looking forward to. This was a code green for God's sake, he's just supposed to stand outside an expensive restaurant and yawn until his jaw complained.

"I'm sorry," The man chuckled, turning to Reya, "I have arranged a private room at Savour, if you will station yourself outside the room, it would be more than enough."

"Yes, you already wrote that on your document. You don't need to converse with us, please go on with your business. We won't do anything that would aggravate your matter. I ensure you that everything has go as planned, no interference." Reya said, finally relieved that Soren had stopped fighting beside him.

"Oh, don't worry about that. It is not my first time using your services." His eyes crinkled as he seemed to put on a smile, slowly putting his sunglasses back on. He slowly turned to go and Reya took the chance to reprimand Soren.

"What are you doing?! Do you have a problem with Vampires?"

"No." Soren grunted, glaring straight ahead.

"Good, get your head straight. Maybe you have read something wrong but our job is to guard that man, not beat him up. Ya get that? It's the other way around, you're not supposed to growl at him like a lunatic. You are supposed to guard him with your life. He paid for that."

"Guard?" Soren scoffed, looking away as he tongued his cheek.

"Look, whatever it is you got going on, sort it out. Now we gotta go give this man what he asked for, you got that? Any problems?"

Soren looked back at him, suddenly all traces of emotion dissipated from his face. As though enlightenment dawned upon him.

"No," He said, pushing Reya aside, "Now if you will excuse me, I'll give him what he wants."

"Wha–?" Reya turned as Soren walked past him coolly, giving away nothing of what he was feeling at the moment.

Soren quietly walked up to the client, who was heading towards the restaurant and tapped on his shoulder. As soon as the man turned around, Soren grabbed his face and slammed him down on the concrete, his head smashing on the hard surface. There was no blood but the clear sound of skull shattering rang through, catching the attention of the passers-by. Suddenly, the people who were simply passing them began to yell and scream in horror as Soren calmly took his coat off, throwing it aside as he ran a hand through his hair that fell in front of his face. The man groaned, his hand moving slowly as he tried to get up but Soren was already standing on top of his body, rolling his sleeves up.

"Shit!" Reya dashed towards the sight in front of him. He grabbed Soren by his arm to pull him off, but the younger man was surprisingly stronger than him.

"Stay out of this," Soren warned, pushing Reya off hard enough that the superior stumbled backwards and tripped on his own feet, landing on his butt.

What the fuck? Reya thought as he watched Soren tucked his sleeves up, This guy was insanely strong.

Sensing movement, Soren look down at the victim. The man's body convulsed as he let out a cough, his head already healing itself as the deformed head began to get itself back to shape. This was the strength of a pureblood Vampire, a clear sign of his prowess as he was able to heal himself this quickly. A hand extended and reached out, grabbing Soren's wrist and then it pulled. Soren scoffed, the corner of his lip lifting in amusement as the body got up using his arm as a leverage.

"Done already?" The man grinned as he wiped a speck of dust away from his cheek. His entire head was good as new, as though the smashing never happened.

"Noam fucking Munro…" Soren sneered as he swiftly lunged forward, grabbing Noam by his throat.

Just as the Lycan was lunging forward, Noam wasn't about to sit quietly and watch, he grabbed Soren by his head and quickly rolled over, flipping them over. The mask he wore was hanging by one ear and Noam stared down at Soren, frozen for a moment. The piercing gray eyes stayed on the struggling mongrel under his grip as he held him down with just one hand. Even with best efforts, he still wouldn't be able to break free because Noam was that strong and of course, Soren knew that. The struggle was futile. Soren grunted, relaxing his body as he stared back at the vampire. He looked the same, of course he did. Vampires don't age but he had apparently cut his long hair, sporting short silver locks that fell that the sides of his face and he had certainly grown more buff. Soren hesitated for a bit, growing soft before he caught himself, the hostility growing his eyes as he grunted, his face scowling until his features began to morph.

"That's right," A sly stretch of lips and Noam smiled, "Still so beautiful."

Then he leaned in and claimed the beast's lips.

What.

The.

Fuck.

….????!!!

Reya stared at the duo in front of him, his brows knitted and his mouth gaping as the incredulity took over him. What was he watching? Weren't they just grabbing each other's throat? What was this? Now they're simply just…going at each other's throat but in a different way?

Reya turned, making sure that he wasn't the only one who was seeing this but the street was entirely deserted. Except for some of the staff at the Savour Restaurant who were also struggling over what they should do.

Reya looked back at the two who were now frenching each other angrily and sat on the road, what was he supposed to do? He was supposed to take it easy! Certainly not this.
