Chapter 2 - 02. It's Just Hot In Here

"Is this Night Secure?" The newcomer looked straight at Reya, the most noticeable in the room as he asked this question. He had his coat hanging from one arm but he looked considerably Lycan with prominent canines and the distinct scent of a high ranking one at that.

Reya scoffed, getting up from the couch, "Who the hell are you?"

The man looked at his wristwatch and then back up, his eyes still bore no particular emotions and appeared dead.

"Soren Lowe, new recruit reporting for the first shift. Am I late?"

A brow shot up as Reya examined the new recruit, "Not particularly, shift starts at 6. The manager is that way."

Soren took a tentative step in and looked around, finally locking his eyes on the other door straight ahead with the sign, manager on the front. He gave a short nod toward Reya's direction and the latter assumed immediately that it was supposed to be some sort of 'thank you'. The group in the room watched in silence, Levi evidently admiring the fine ass encased in those tight pants as Soren walked by and knocked on the manager's door.

"Damn!" Levi exhaled, his eyes still stuck on the ass as Soren disappeared behind the door.

"Definitely an Alpha," Hera mumbled into her mug as she took a sip of her coffee.

"Is he new? Never seen him around?" Jamie inquired, suddenly noticing that the energy in the room had perked up. Even Reya was looking a bit intrigued, the last signs of sleepiness completely absent on his face. And Reya was the highest ranking Alpha in the group.

"He's even bigger than Reya. Do you feel like he's gonna be as strong?" Levi asked, suddenly elated at the fact that he won't be the youngest entry in the group.

Reya frowned to himself, suddenly losing all interest over the magazine that was lying open on his thigh. He was intrigued, yes. It was certainly a distinct scent that the new recruit possessed but something was bothering Reya. He felt like he should recognize that scent. Maybe he was overthinking it but it didn't feel new. The scent felt familiar but he couldn't exactly pinpoint where he recognized that scent. He felt strangely hot and bothered, subtly pulling his collars to cool himself down. He looked down at himself and cursed himself as he saw his crotch. He immediately pulled the magazine over his crotch.

He was hard.

But why?

"May I come in, Sir?"

The manager looked up, he was an older man with blond hair with a generous light beard framing his jaw. His eyes crinkled, his crow's feet becoming more prominent as he nodded, signaling to the seat in front of his table. A name plate in gold was placed on the desk and read, Henry Langland.

"Hello, Soren. Take a seat."

"Thank you." Soren mumbled as he sat down the chair, which creaked under his hefty weight.

"First day." Henry smiled, lacing his fingers together on his desk, "I'm sure you have heard all about our company when you applied for it. But of course, I am going to go over it anyway."

Soren nodded firmly as Henry gave a brief talk about the company. Night Secure was a private company that lent its security services to the higher and lower end of Vampires in Glyswing. It was mainly started as a means to provide Lycans with any sort of employment and exploit their higher points of abilities which was their heightened senses and their strength. It worked fairly well as Lycans were nocturnal as the Vampires were. At first, Night Secure was received with a fair number of criticism and caution as Lycans were already looked down on for their feral traits such as heat and lack of control over their senses during full moon even as they have evolved to this advanced version of werewolves compared to their ancestors. But soon the company grew as the Vampires welcomed the idea of Lycans working for them.

The Vampires were rich folks, they lived off of the civilization they had cultivated over a hundred years given the fact that they were immortal. Vampires made up about 90 percent of the country and thanks to Night Secure, the Lycans came to realize that the Vampires were largely hedonistic as the majority of their clients would employ their services mainly to ensure that someone was there to look after their asses and take them home safely before sunrise after they had wasted themselves away at parties and clubs.

"Here, the company policies are short. We don't like to strangle our employees with too many rules." Henry gave Soren a short smile, "But of course, we have a strict policy against engaging with Vampires. Which is never. You are never to involve yourself with a client. It places the company at a vulnerable spot where we can be sued by any vampire, now we don't want that, do we?"

"You don't have to worry about that. From every fiber of my being, and the blood that beats through me, I hate Vampires. I wouldn't trust myself alone with one. Actually, I won't mind testing out if they are actually immortal."

Henry laughed uneasily, shaking his head, "Now, Soren, you do realize that your job is to guard the Vampire, not kill them. If you couldn't trust yourself with one, that would certainly be a problem."

"You don't have to worry about that. I only have these issues with one particular vampire."

"That's great!" Henry clapped his hands, straightening up, "Now let me go over some basic information. Oh! Right. We have different levels of assignment according to the needs and background of the client. Code Green are those fairly lesser clients, with lower fulfillments. A Code Green would simply ask you to accompany them somewhere or simply keep them company. Code Yellows are important clients, with moderate levels of fulfillment. It can range from looking after them at a short event or to an important meeting. You don't have to worry about them, but now the proper one. Code Red is the highest priority client. They come with the highest needs for fulfillment and of course, you get paid a lot. Everything related to Code Red must be kept anonymous and private. Do you get that?"

"I understand, Sir."

"Now you're a new recruit, Soren. No hard feelings but you will be kept to Code Green assignments for a while. It will help you ease in. I hope to see you excelling with Code Reds by next year. We are looking forward to building a rapport with you here. Welcome to Night Secure, Soren Lowe. Now let me introduce you to your guide.

"Phew! It's gonna be hard keeping a straight mind around that one!" Levi laughed after Soren disappeared.

"Shut up, you horndog." Reya glared at Levi, his eyes turning a bright color of yellow resembling a wolf's pupils.

"What? I was joking around, i am not gonna fuck a clearly male alpha. Jesus, take a joke, will you?"

"Woah, you okay there? Reya?" Hera smirked, putting on her black coat over her toned body, "You look a bit bothered."

"If i didn't know better, i would think you seemed quite affected by Mr. New Recruit." Jamie chirped in, getting ready as well.

"What? No." Reya raised a brow, shaking his head in denial, "If anyone was attracted, isn't it clearly Levi?"

"I didn't ever say you were attracted to that guy, you are both alphas and Levi is clearly straight. He just likes to do those kinds of things."

"What? Act gay?" Reya passed a look of annoyance towards Levi who threw his hands up in question.

"Hey! I don't act gay, I just believe in appreciating a good looking person when i see one."

"You just commented and drooled at his ass!" Reya exclaimed and pointed at the manager's door.

Just as his luck could get any better, the door opened and the manager peeked his head out. He stared at Reya who was clearly pointing at him.

"Any problems with my ass, Reya?" The manager chuckled, calling him in with his fingers.

Reya sighed and got up, dragging his coat along with him. He went inside the office to find Soren seated. Reya immediately looked away, squirming at his collar as he took position behind Soren.

"Sir?"

"Reya, this is Soren. Soren, this is Reya. He will be your supervisor."

Reya gapped at his boss, "What?"

Fuck, he can't be with this new recruit. This guy was strange, he smelled strange. Not to mention, he made Reya hard for unknown reasons. Reya was hoping to avoid this man as much as possible.

"Anything, Reya?"

Reya shook his head in confusion, "No, I just have that…code red.."

Henry frowned, "You don't need to worry about that. I just have to reassign roles. You okay there, Reya? You seem quite flustered?"

"No, it's just…hot in here."

"Hmm, is that so? Well, it is almost full moon. I remember those days when I used to get affected by it." Henry chuckled, a nostalgic look on his face, "I have grown old."

"Full moon…" Reya mumbled, cursing himself. That's right, the full moon was approaching. That could be it. He must have thought it was this new recruit because of the timing.

Why would he get hard for an alpha, right?

Soren turned to look at him and they met eyes, something electrifying shooting up his spine as Reya quickly looked away.

Right?
