My hand on my jaw, my fingers spinning my spoon against the plate, I sighed for what seemed like the 5th time.
"I have a fucking headache, ugh!" Vanessa groaned.
"Sorry, have you taken any drugs yet?"
"Nope, don't worry it will pass, had a very hectic day in my shop"
"Your shop"
"You should come to visit, will be happy to have you there"
I smiled. "I will when I have time, will love to see your business"
"You're mocking me aren't you?"
"Absolutely not!" I said with wide eyes and she rolled her eyes.
"Thanks for dinner, gotten go have some sleep"
"So early?" I stopped in my tracks on my way to the kitchen to wash my dishes.
"Yeah tons of text next week, gotta be ready," I said with a forced smile.
"Ugh, the worst" she rolled her eyes.
"I know right" I quickly wash my dishes.
"You never told me what happened on your small outing during the weekend, you seemed upset"
"It's totally good, just a small misunderstanding" I wiped my hands, and I heard her sigh behind me.
"Are you having a hard time? That's stupid of me to say you must be having a hard time"
I whirled.
"School, new town, new friends" I nod, folding my arms. "It takes some getting use to"
"I understand and I want you to know I'm here for you just like I promised, tell me if there's anything on your mind okay?"
I forced a smile. "I will"

I sit on my bed, wiping my glasses before putting them back on, yeah right! Like she would tell me anything relating to this town if I asked, I huffed in my head remembering our small talk.
I set the brown book before me with the heading 'Founding Juneau' I took a deep breath, will I find my answers inside? Of course, I will, what else could I be looking for if not to know about the Devereaux's. I sighed heavily but something about the Devereaux's seemed off, like with Emilia and her parable speaking about things behind loud and I was quiet or Lucas' lustful gaze or Dace's strange eyes. Dace. My eyes darted to my phone and I took it, opening the message he left me. To be honest, I didn't know what to say, my fingers were always hanging, I didn't text him back because I didn't know what to do, this was maddening, I wanted to talk to him so badly that it hurts and yet I don't want to.
"Get this over with Emma" I muttered, typing.
ME: Hi.
I sighed deleting it, I went on like 5 attempts, and yet I didn't know what to send to him.
"Fuck!" I pressed the send button and my eyes went wide. "Oh no no no no!" I panicked.
ME: Didn't see you in school today.
That was the message that went through. "Fuck!" I cursed covering my eyes from beneath my glasses, my heart slamming loudly in my chest.
At the sound of the incoming message, I quickly grasped my phone in my hands and saw his reply.
DACE: Hey, couldn't come, wasn't feeling well.
Worry filled my features.
ME: What's wrong? Are you okay?!
DACE: I couldn't stop thinking of you, Emma, only thoughts of you.
I gasped, pausing, a rush of adrenaline washed upon me and before I knew it I replied faster than my brain.
ME: Me too
DACE: Can I see you? I don't think I can take it anymore.
ME: We can see tomorrow at school
DACE: I mean right now, silly.
My eyes widened off my socket, what did I just read?
I tried typing a reply which I was freakishly slow at because my brain was trying to process what to say and at the same time my heart was slamming faster than I could bear.
And then I heard a tick at my window, my eyes darted to it in puzzlement, that sound wasn't the dream-catcher because it dangled and that I heard was a tick like mini stones were being thrown at it. It came again and I cautiously walked to my window in alert and my gaze fell below. I gasp with wide eyes covering my mouth and freezing.
Dace was down, YES! He was right there. I quickly opened my window.
"D-Dace!" I began loudly but remembered to lower my voice, it was late and the whole area was probably quiet except for the creatures of the night.
"Hey," he said with a weak smile. I noticed how tired he looked, with his messy hair, he still looked perfect. He stood with hands in his pocket jeans, on a black sweater, with the sleeve rolled to his arms.
"H-How did you- What are you-" I couldn't find the right words, what could I possibly say? I spotted no car around except my aunt's so how did he get here?
"Don't panic okay?" he said softly to me.
I rested my hand on the window. "I'm not… just shocked"
"I said I wanted to see you right now"
"Yes you did"
'"I still haven't had enough," he said breathlessly, like looking at me wasn't enough for him to take in, and it made my heart jump.
I bit my bottom lip. "You were gone for days, Dace, are you angry because I followed Owen instead of you?"
"I'm not angry Emma, not anymore, You made a choice" he sighed. "I had to respect it, that's what matters"
The cold breeze came in and I shivered, he shouldn't be out here, it was freezing cold but funny because he didn't faze from the cold, maybe he wasn't.
"It's cold tonight, you should cover up more," he said with worried looks, noticing how I shiver. "I love your PJ's by the way"
I blushed, eyeing the baggy pink shirt I wore with a chibi character designed around it.
"T-Thank you," I said meeting his gaze once again and I drowned within them, I suddenly have a powerful urge to be near him, this distance wasn't cutting it, I had a feeling he felt the same way, it was so intense to the point it was getting hard for me to breathe if he didn't come close.
"I wanna come in, Emma, will you let me?"
